LUMbA: REDUX - The Sigma Update


I'm getting ready to put LUMbA: REDUX on some more platforms, so I thought now would be a good time to add some extra stuff and fix some issues I still have with the game.


NEW MENU



I completely redid the menu to make it more dynamic and stuff. The end result was pretty cool in my opinion, I hope you check it out :)

NEW CHAPTER(???)



I felt chapter 7 was the weakest in the game. Outside of the Yellherr fight, you spend the entire thing walking forward like it's sonic.exe and that's BORRRIIINNNGGGG. I redid a lot of it. Since chapter 8 is just a boss, chapter 7 has always filled the role of the "final level." I tried to make something much more climatic this time around, I even made music for it myself (I have no experience with making music). I also removed that stupid jumpscare when Yellherr shows up. The original LUMbA was actually supposed to be a horror game and that part kinda got left over from it. It always felt out of place in this game so I replaced it with a short little cutscene.

OTHER SHIT



I fixed and changed some other random stuff in this update as well:


  • Fixed the Richard Rodent fight not working on the Steam Deck.
  • Made The Machine fight work properly on gamepad.
  • Slightly altered chapter 4's visuals.
  • Zoomed in the camera of the Yellherr fight.
  • Optimized the final boss.
  • Some other thing I forgot


This game was released almost 2 years ago and I still can't help but mess with it. I should really be working on LUMbA: HANGOVER's REMIX Mode but I just can't help myself with this game, lol.

THE ONE AND ONLY STEAMBOAT MOUSE GUY HAS JOINED LUMbA: REDUX!


This isn't a joke, he is hidden somewhere in chapter 1, before the Carl bossfight. We won't tell you where exactly, but you can figure it out.

LUMbA: HANGOVER IS OUT NOW!

COMBAT OVERHAUL + Gamepad Support

We're really happy with the positive reception we've gotten after releasing LUMbA: REDUX. Some people had issues with the game though, many issues we felt like we couldn't ignore. So without further ado, here are the new changes:

  • Lumba's movement speed was made more consistent between levels.
  • Lumba's projectile speed has been increased.
  • Added a new brick wall object, which has replaced large stacks of boxes in some levels.
  • Modified enemy spawn positions in multiple levels.
  • Lowered Flart bullet speed.
  • Lowered Bonecrow firebone speed.
  • Lowered G-Yip firerate.
  • Added telegraphs showing the area covered by explosive bullets.

BOSS UPDATES:

  • Added boss health meters.
  • Gave some bosses telegraphed animations to signal incoming attacks.
  • Rebalanced boss health.
  • Added new bullet sprites to differentiate the final boss's attacks.

GAMEPAD SUPPORT:
We added support for controllers, specifically Xbox controllers, but you can likely get any type of gamepad working with the right software.

LUMbA: REDUX Update Recap

Team Lumba has been hard at work continuing to support LUMbA: REDUX. I recently got a Steamworks account, so now I can tell you guys about everything we've been doing.
Boring Stuff:

  • Adjusted various enemies and bosses to suit a more natural difficulty curve
  • Adjusted Lumba's speed in chapter 2
  • Fixed Yellherr collision

LUMbA: WORLD TOUR is a free update that adds brand-new content, including:

  • 3 New chapters
  • 3 New monsters
  • 1 New boss
  • New story content
