LunarLux v1.3 Legend Update

Hi Lunar Warriors!

Our first major content update is finally here! v1.3 includes the long awaited Hard Mode, Legend Mode, Beach Episode, New Missions and so much more! Below is an in-depth list breaking down everything in v1.3!

You'll also be excited to know that if you were thinking about getting the game, now is a great time to do so as we are part of the Steam Spring Sale! From March 14th until the 21st, the game will be on sale for 40% off! Make sure to check out Freedom Games' Steam Spring Sale page to pick up some great games to play.

Hard Mode and Legend Mode

  • You can now set the difficulty to Hard Mode or Legend Mode in the Options Menu! Hard Mode sets all Normal Enemies to EX Enemies and all EX Enemies to ZX Enemies. Legend Mode on the other hand, sets ALL enemies to ZX Enemies. Want to fight Hyperbee ZX as your first battle in Chapter 1? Go right ahead! Mwahaha! Note: Starting a New Game is not required for you to unlock all 31 ZX Encounters, though I would recommend trying it out since several story cutscenes will look and feel different due to the form upgrades and difficulty changes. Also note that defeating a ZX Enemy unlocks their Normal & EX entries as well.

New Content

  • Beach Episode Story Segment (Unlocked in Post-Game)
  • 2 New Missions: Monsters of Magnesia & Ener-G Corp Takeover!
  • 3 New Areas: Summer's Cove, Forsaken Trail & Magnesia, and Ener-G Corp Building!
  • New Mini-Game: Wavy Waters!
  • 3 New Enemies!
  • Skill Booster Vending Machine (Lets you purchase extra Skill Boosters with Bytes and Astrotech)
  • Skill Point Currency Exchange Machine (Lets you exchange Skill Points for Bytes)
  • 1 New Secret Title Added (Hint: 5000 Points)
  • 2 New Steam Achievements Added!
  • 3 New Number Trader Passwords added!
  • Secret Sewer Room has been updated (I don't want to spoil it, heh. We're hoping to update this room with something new every time we release a major content update)
  • New NPC Added (Vermil, found in Wasteland Zone 1)
  • 10 New Items have been added: EZ-Stun, EZ-Burn, EZ-Meter, Infinity Ener-G, Super Elixir, Necro Fluid (Consumables), Ener-G Key, Pool Floatie, Star Trophy, & Limit Breaker (Key Items). Star Trophy is received when you interact with any Kyrogate after you unlocked all 31 ZX Enemy Encounters. Limit Breaker Item increases the Active Skill Level Cap by 1 so you can make your attacks even stronger! NOTE: This will update the Bella & Nickle Skill Mastery Completion % in your Codex Records Menu. If you already received the steam achievements for Bella & Nickle Skill Master prior to v1.3, your steam achievements will remain!

Bug Fixes and QOL Updates

  • 3 New Enemy Passive Enemy Abilities have been introduced: Attack Boost Ability, Healing Ability, Armor Ability (Shown in battle with a Red Sword, Green Heart Icon and Purple Armor Icon respectively). Certain Enemies with these abilities will be able to do double damage to the player, passively heal, and have immunities to certain types of attacks, adding a greater challenge to the battle system.)
  • Burn Status Effect has been buffed: An enemy inflicted with BURN will lose 10% of their MAX HP (With DMG Capped at 100 DMG) per turn.
  • Fixed an issue where certain Normal/EX enemy encounters would reset their EX Completion Status
  • Fixed an issue in Mt. Piton where the Phantom Spot wasn't accessible without a Jet Suit
  • Completion Stars Added to Secret Titles for consistency
  • Records Menu Updated to Show ZX Enemy Completion Progress
  • Difficulty Selection Prompt added to start of a New Game
  • Lunex Affinity & Tycho Affinity Max Values adjusted to accommodate new content & missions
  • HP and DMG Values for several enemies have been adjusted for balance purposes.
  • Unique Over-Phase Sprites have been added based on the Murk Slayer's ZX design! Woohoo!
  • Fixed DMG discrepancy issues with several Active Skills and Lux Combos
  • Fixed other miscellaneous Bugs & Grammar Errors/Typos
  • Art Book and OST Links added to the Title Screen! Definitely Check those out :D

LunarLux v1.2 Achievements & Cloud Saves Patch Notes

Hi Lunar Warriors!

We hope you’ve been enjoying your playthrough of LunarLux! Today, we released version 1.2, which includes the highly requested Steam Achievements, Steam Cloud Saves, and a few other Updates/Bug Fixes that will improve your gameplay experience! Here’s the in-depth list detailing everything that has been fixed/updated:

Notable Updates:

  • Steam Achievements: 28 Steam Achievements have been added! All achievements were based on the in-game Records Menu. Note: You don't have to replay the game! Simply load your save file and the achievements will be granted based on your game completion progress!
  • Cloud Saves: Steam Cloud Saves have been implemented! Now you'll be able to switch between different devices (Steam Deck, Laptop, Desktop, etc) and pick up right where you last saved!
Important: Please make sure to launch LunarLux on your primary device FIRST, save the game, and then exit the game in order to properly sync your save files to Steam Cloud!
  • Button Prompts: Due to several reports regarding issues with automatic controller detection, we decided it would be best to shift to a manual options setting. Simply go to the options menu and set which button prompts you'd like the game to display! (Keyboard, XBOX, PS4). This will ensure you will always see the button prompts that you want to see, regardless of how many controllers are connected :D

Battle System Updates:

  • You can now apply Damage/Power modifying Support Skills to Cheesecake Bomb! Please enjoy the new damage buff possibilities thanks to this delicious update, heh.
  • If you have the Tactics Upgrade Chip equipped, the following Support Skills can now stack their damage (x2 DMG) if you select them twice during Support Skill Selection: Lunex Force, Saber Plus, Buster Plus, Tetra Burst, and Dragon's Call.
  • Note: As of v1.2, the following Support Skills do not stack their effects when selected twice: Reflex, Crossfire, Wild Card, Invisible, Voltage Gate, Pyro Gate, and Ancient Venom.

Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed an issue where if you obtained the Nexus Boy and completed the Nexus Network bonus stage, you would not be able to trigger the secret James King Network Dive event. Now if you're thinking, WAIT WHAT?! THERE'S A SECRET NETWORK DIVE EVENT?! Yes! Here's a hint: Check the Lunex Space Station BBS 👀
  • Fixed a bug where your last Ki-Barrage attack wouldn't damage the enemy if the timer runs out before the projectile hits the enemy.
  • Fixed a minor bug for the Merchant in Kepler Ranch, where the shop menu didn't display the number of Super Ener-G you owned correctly.
  • Fixed various spelling or grammar errors in the dialogue.

Many of you were asking about Post-Game Content, and we have some cool news to share! We are currently working on some sweet Post Launch Content Updates for LunarLux! WOOHOO!

Here’s some of the content you can look forward to:
- New Game+ (Hard Mode - ZX Enemies)
- New Mission: Monsters of Magnesia (Special Murk Slayer Episode)
- New Mission: Beach Episode!
- Shhh… This last one is a Secret 👀

Report your bugs, give us your feedback, and come hang out with us on the Official LunarLux Discord! If you leave us an honest review on Steam (and show us a screenshot), you’ll even get an exclusive Stellar Reviewer Discord Role! Your review will help us bring LunarLux to more players! :D That’s all for now, see you in the next update!

May your Lux Shine Forever Bright!

LunarLux v1.1 Bugfix Patch Notes

Hi Lunar Warriors!

I would like to start off by saying: All of you are AMAZING and we appreciate you so much! Ever since LunarLux launched, we have gotten so much love, support, fanarts (Oh man, the Fanarts are INCREDIBLE), feedback, and amazing new community members over on our Discord.

We’d also like to thank each and every one of you who gave us an honest review! The positive response to our game has been incredible and extremely motivating! LunarLux is our passion project and we will continue to give it the love and attention it deserves. With that being said, we’ve tackled a majority of the feedback/bug reports we’ve received since launch and compiled it all together into our first patch (v1.1). Here’s the in-depth list detailing everything that has been fixed/updated:

Overworld Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed a major bug involving the Skill Booster Merchants located in the Bandit Ship and in Silica Rifts where the player would not be able to purchase Skill Boosters if they had pressed the Crater Switches in Silica Rifts, preventing 100% Game Completion.
  • Added a Missing Skill Booster as well as 6 Additional Skill Boosters in the overworld to provide a more flexible experience for players aiming for 100% Completion.
  • Fixed an issue involving the Crater Switches in Silica Rifts which may have prevented the player from obtaining the Soul Gun Active Skill.
  • Fixed a bug in Silica where Fortuno's 2nd Quest Marker would appear earlier than intended.
  • Fixed a text display bug that occurred when getting the Secret Title from the speedrun NPC in Silica.
  • Fixed an issue where the Mini-HP Booster prize from the Number Trader did not give Nickle a 10 HP Boost, leading to uneven HP values for both party members. Unfortunately, due to the way the save system was set up, there is no way to retroactively apply the 10 HP Boost to those who already claimed the prize before this update (v1.1) was released.
  • Fixed a bug at the end of CH 2 where if you decline to go to bed and leave Bella's Room, the Story Indicator follows you throughout maps, potentially causing softlocks or out-of-bounds shenanigans if you interact with it.
  • Fixed an audio glitch that occurs when playing music tracks through the NexusBoy.
  • QOL: You can now stop the current track playing in the Nexus Boy Music Bot menu so that you can revert back to the normal BGM for the area you are in.
  • Fixed an issue where Jet Suit particle effects sometimes don't appear.

Battle System Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed a bug where Starlight Slash Lux Combo damage would not display correctly.
  • Fixed a bug where getting a game over from fighting the Vessel in Wasteland Zone 1 would crash the game.
  • Fixed an issue where 'BURNED' prompts would appear prematurely when using certain Support Skill summons like Wild Card.
  • Fixed a bug which prevented Psychozoa from using its Wave Attack.
  • QOL: Nickle is now able to use Tetra Burst! The only Support Skills Nickle is unable to use are: Lunex Force, Saber Plus, and Buster Plus, since they are Bella-specific Support Skills.
  • Balancing: Updated Echo Barrage Lux Combo Damage Calc to work similar to how it used to work in our old RPG Maker Demo. The new calculation is: 30*Echo Slash LV (First Hit) + 60*Echo Slash LV (Second Hit) + 90*Echo Slash LV (Third Hit) + Bella LV + 100 DMG (Power Chip Bonus Damage).
  • Balancing: Fixed an issue with Phantom Strike’s damage calc which made this Active Skill extremely broken when paired with the right support skills.
  • QOL: Made it so that DMG values over 10,000 DMG are properly displayed.

Other Bug Fixes and Updates:

  • QOL: The game will now keep track of the last save slot you saved in, and will also pre-select the slot in which you loaded the game. This is to prevent accidentally saving over a different save file since the cursor used to always default to save slot 1.
  • QOL: You can now return to the title screen from the options menu! You can also return to the title screen by holding down the [Insert] Key for 1 second. (Just in case players accidentally press the [Insert] Key).
  • PS4 Controller Issues: There have been some issues involving PS4 Controllers where button prompts don't display correctly. The game is currently able to detect a controller, but not distinguish between the type. We will be investigating this further, but for now, if you're using a PS4 Controller, we added a manual toggle in the Options Menu that will allow you to change the XBOX button prompts to PS4 button prompts!
  • Fixed a minor issue that allowed you to move while the menu was open when interacting with certain NPCs/Interactables.
  • Fixed a minor issue where some doors in the Lunex Space Station had interactable dialogue that was not supposed to be there.
  • Kyrogate on the west side of Silica has been relocated to prevent some collision issues.
  • Fixed an issue where a few music tracks had lower base volume levels compared to the rest of the soundtrack.
  • Fixed some issues where the dialogue overlapped the textbox in the Spanish Localization.
  • Fixed an issue where if you were able to play with a LunarLux Demo save file that existed before the Affinity System was implemented, you would not be able to max out and complete your Regolithia Affinity.
  • Fixed some typos & grammar errors in dialogue and credits.
  • Fixed an issue where Lumiknight-EX database info would not display anything.

For players requesting LunarLux Steam Achievements and Cloud Saves for our Steam Deck users, we hear you loud and clear! Steam Achievements and Cloud Saves are coming soon! :D

Thank you very much for playing LunarLux and supporting our Indie Team!

May your Lux Shine Forever Bright!

July Update!

Hi friends!
We're back with another development update! This update is a bit on the shorter side, but it delves into some pretty important news regarding the game's release & content!

As we got closer to the completion of the base game, we realized we needed more time to polish the game's chapters. Chapter 5 for example, required a ton of custom assets & new music tracks for cutscenes in the finale and we wanted to take the time to craft an ending to LunarLux that has the punch we're looking for!

In order to ensure we give the base game the polish it needs, we decided it would be best to release some of our Kickstarter stretch goal content into a crunchy post-launch content update after the base game is released! (Whether it will be one update or several is TBD)

This would give us the time we need to finish the base game as well as time to make our post-launch content updates amazing as well!

In summary, the good news is that after the full game is released, we're going to work on and release some cool post-launch content updates for the game, which we're very excited for! Heh.

Now, we can't have a proper update without showing off some amazing sprite work! This time we've got the animated sprite designs of 3 Murks you'll be encountering on your adventure!

Xenotaur (Centaur + LunarLux Vessel Mech + Reindeer Murk)
Kerberos (Murk inspired by Omega-Xis from Mega Man Star Force)

Psychozoa (Jellyfish Murk whose design was partially inspired by Lusamine from Pokemon Sun and Moon!)

As always thank you so much for supporting the development of LunarLux! We also post content twice a week over on our Twitter, so for immediate progress or snippets into what we're working on, head on over to the LunarLux Twitter to keep up with all the latest posts! heh. If you have any questions at all, feel free to contact us directly or comment below. Don’t forget - the best way to connect with us devs is by joining the Discord!

That's all for now. See you on the next update!!! 🙂
