Get Donovan’s Side of the Story in Mafia III: Stones Unturned
We know that Mafia III revolves around the Marcano crime family and Lincoln’s tale of revenge, but everyone wants to see more of John Donovan. Same here at Hangar 13! That’s why Lincoln’s fiery, wiseass CIA handler from Vietnam is front-and-center for “Stones Unturned” – the new DLC for Mafia III coming May 30.
In “Stones Unturned,” Donovan is your wingman and buddy. He’s there with you every step of the way, helping unfold a mystery brewing in New Bordeaux. As Donovan’s past catches up with him, you’re fighting side-by-side… or, in some cases, firing a huge mounted turret from the back of a truck while he’s doing the driving.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fUUq_f5KI9s
Which leads us to what’s turning up in Stones Unturned.
One thing that we’ve continually heard from fans is how much you loved the minute-to-minute story-driven action in Mafia III. So we focused on that to bring this DLC to life. “’Stones Unturned’ is an adventure story, through and through. Our goal: Make it feel like a great buddy action movie,” says Senior Writer Ed Fowler.
That’s right, you’re getting 100% more Donovan. “What we really wanted to do was tell a story that was unique to Lincoln and Donovan. Something to show they were a tight team that had each other’s backs… and that they have this rich history together. We don’t get explicit about their time in Vietnam, but in “Stones Unturned,” you get to experience what that time might’ve been like,” Ed tells us. He also went a little more into what it’s like to write lines for Donovan.
“Writing Donovan, brings my inner wiseass out. He gives you that channel to say and do what you probably wouldn’t in civil company. What I really love about the character is that Donovan is a guy that you can disagree with his methods, but you understand his reasons. He truly believes in what he’s doing and he is armed with facts as he does it.”
According to Ed, it’s a combination of what’s on the page… and what actor Lane Compton brings to role.
“[Donovan’s] so much fun to write. Still, I gotta say it’s equally the magic Lane brings to the table. He locks in on Donovan’s swagger and principles in such a dynamic way and takes everything to another level. It’s awesome to watch him work.”
We’re excited for “Stones Unturned” to just get out there for everyone to see these two pals hanging out in New Bordeaux. The bullets start flying May 30 on Steam.

Mafia III “Faster, Baby!” DLC Now Available
Whether you’ve already taken down the Marcano crime family, or you’re still new to town, the streets of Mafia III have more stories to tell. Today, the “Faster, Baby!” DLC is ready to roll – and with it come a number of game enhancements, gear, new vehicles to add to your fleet. And, of course, there’s the story of small town corruption choking Sinclair Parish.
It’s up to Lincoln Clay and Roxy Laveau to do something about it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MW8DIyfpBKs
What's New in "Faster, Baby!"?
Quickly recapping what’s going into this DLC:
There’s a whole new part of town to drive through – and tear up. Sinclair Parish is a small rural township in the countryside with lots of opportunities to tear through turns, jump gaps and run from the law. Oh, sure, you’ll have your fill of Hollywood-caliber car chases, enhanced with new “Faster, Baby!” additions like the ability to activate slow motion. It’s a new way to carve tight corners and thread-the-needle between narrow gaps while evading pursuit.
”Faster, Baby!” gets straight to the action with high-octane driving and more car combat. With this new DLC release we’re introducing new combat mechanics perfectly suited for causing destruction on-the-go. Namely, you’ll now have access to proximity mines so you can lay out traps on the backroads or in enemy encampments. Also, take advantage of the ability to toss grenades from your car while enemies are in hot pursuit.
…and there’s a great story as well! “Faster, Baby!” takes place alongside events in the main game. A civil rights leader is murdered while investigating local sheriff “Slim” Beaumont – and other activists are next on the list. As the story unfolds, you’re unlocking new cars for tooling around New Bordeaux, new outfits and new gear for taking down Slim – as well as the Marcanos.
How Do I Start Playing "Faster, Baby!"?
The Deluxe version of Mafia III, which is bundled with the Season Pass, includes “Faster, Baby!” as well as the upcoming “Stones Unturned” and “Sign of the Times” DLC. So, if you already purchased the Deluxe version or a Season Pass, no other purchase is required – just get to downloading. Otherwise, the “Faster, Baby!” DLC is now available for purchase from your favorite digital store.
Just start driving around. It doesn’t matter whether you previously finished Mafia III or you’re just starting off on your own personal tale of revenge, feel free to explore all that Sinclair Parish has to offer. If you’ve sealed Marcano’s fate, just start driving southwest until you hit the country. Just started? You’ll still need to have all three Lieutenants (end of Act Two) before you’re able to head outside of town. So plan for a nice little country drive.
Uncover the corruption. To kick off the story – and to take down Slim – head over to meet with Charles “The Voice” Laveau after the end of Act Two to hear what’s happening in Sinclair Parish. What happens next is up to you and Charles’ daughter, Roxy.
Pay attention! There are a number of new gameplay elements – and interactive items throughout Sinclair Parish – that change how you’ll play the game. Keep an eye out for those new tutorial screens.
Don’t forget – “Faster, Baby!” is just the first paid DLC for Mafia III. We still have more stories to tell and a bunch of additional content coming in the “Stones Unturned” and “Sign of the Times” DLC that are also included in the Season Pass. And that’s on top of the free vehicle modifications, races, customizable outfits and extra weapons we’ve released since the game’s launch.

What’s New to Mafia III with “Faster, Baby!”
Pack your bags – we’re headin’ out to the country!
When we shipped Mafia III last fall, we were honored by the community’s response. Since then, many of you have asked for more of Lincoln Clay’s action-packed adventure. That’s what we’re delivering with “Faster, Baby!” – more to explore, more to do while driving around New Bordeaux and another chapter in the life of Lincoln Clay.
What does that mean? It means there’s a new town just begging to be busted up and driven through! You’ll do it with wicked jumps and new situational awareness driving that lets you take tight turns in slow motion. New weapons are added to your arsenal – including proximity mines for setting traps and a silenced SMG. And when the heat is on, drop a grenade behind you while driving to shake whoever’s on your tail.
In short, “Faster, Baby!” adds more of the revenge-seeking you loved in Mafia III with new tools at your disposal.

WELCOME TO SINCLAIR PARISH
Coming on March 28th, “Faster, Baby!” features high-octane chases ripping through the countryside and new ways to cause vehicular mayhem. What’s different this time around when you play Mafia III? We’re getting straight to the action as we tell Lincoln’s tale.
”Faster, Baby!” takes place alongside events in the game… but in an entirely new town and with new gameplay experiences. A civil rights leader is murdered while investigating local sheriff, Walter “Slim” Beaumont. Other activists are next on the list – and it’s up to Lincoln and Roxy Laveau (daughter of Charles “The Voice” Laveau) to get to the bottom of what’s happening.
As for Sinclair Parish – it may be fictional, but it’s based upon how a few towns used to be, says Hangar 13’s Narrative Director, Bill Harms. It’s a place where some folks tried to preserve a narrow-minded way of life. Minorities weren’t welcome, especially after dark. “Just like the main game, we wanted to capture a snapshot of a specific time and place in American history, and let the player experience it.”
Since Sinclair Parish is a small rural township in the countryside near the Bayou, expect lots of opportunities to tear through turns, jump gaps and run from the law. Harms adds, “The gameplay is really centered around driving and pushing that as far as possible, while also feeling like a natural extension of the free racing DLC we released not too long ago.”
MORE HOLLYWOOD ACTION
Oh, sure, you’ll have your fill of Hollywood-caliber car chases, but some of the additions that come with “Faster, Baby!” let you carve corners in slow motion and add new firepower to slow enemies down. To play up Lincoln’s situational awareness that he’s honed in combat, you’ll be able to briefly channel that adrenaline into pulling off awesome driving stunts. So go ahead and thread the needle through traffic.
With ”Faster, Baby!” we’re also introducing a couple new combat mechanics perfectly suited for causing destruction on-the-go. Namely, you’ll now have access to proximity mines so you can lay out traps on the backroads and the ability to toss grenades from your car while enemies are in hot pursuit.
Complete the objectives in the story, and you’re unlocking new fleet cars for tooling around New Bordeaux, new outfits and a new weapon for taking down Slim – as well as changing the dynamic in how you can continue your fight against the Marcanos when you get back to “Bourbon City.”
Get ready to enjoy some southern hospitality, Mafia III-style, when the “Faster, Baby!” DLC rolls into town on March 28th.
MAFIA III: The Story Continues in 2017
Ever since we welcomed you to the streets of New Bordeaux in October, we promised more killer content for Mafia III. You’ve asked about what’s coming next – and when. Today, we’re giving you more information about the DLC story expansions for Mafia III, as well as a tease into what you’re going to see in our first expansion, “Faster, Baby!”
First, though, here’s a quick look at what we’ve done so far – and a glance at what’s coming next. Keep in mind that this is a targeted timeline, but dates may shift slightly in content development. If that happens, we’ll let you know.
PAID STORY EXPANSION CONTENT UPDATE
For all our fans out there dying to head back to the bayou, we’ve got more paid story content coming your way. This is what your Season Pass covers – three major paid expansions delivering the next chapters in the Mafia III crime drama, plus more locations, action and rewards to Mafia III.
Ever since the team wrapped production for the game’s launch, we’ve been hard at work expanding the world of New Bordeaux. So, with that, here’s what you can look forward to in 2017. As we said above, keep in mind that precise dates may shift.
“Faster, Baby!”
End of March 2017
Fast cars, dramatic chases, and epic stunt driving take center stage as Lincoln joins forces with Roxy Laveau, a sister-in-arms out to take down a corrupt Sheriff terrorizing Civil Rights activists on the outskirts of New Bordeaux.
“Stones Unturned”
May 2017
When a merciless rival resurfaces in New Bordeaux, Lincoln must join forces with CIA agent John Donovan to settle a blood feud that began in the war-torn jungles of Vietnam.
“Sign of the Times”
July 2017
A string of ritualistic killings has New Bordeaux on the edge of terror. At Father James’ request, Lincoln agrees to hunt down the cult responsible, a quest that will take him from the dark heart of the old bayou to the drug-ridden counterculture of the inner city.
All three of these story expansions will deliver tight, focused, and compelling narratives, while also introducing new gameplay mechanics, activities, environments and rewards.
3 THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT “FASTER, BABY!”
We recently chatted with Hangar 13’s Narrative Director, Bill Harms, about Mafia III’s upcoming DLC. We’ll be revealing all of the details on “Faster, Baby!” in the coming weeks, but here’s three things to keep in mind:
In the coming weeks, we’ll be revealing much more on “Faster, Baby!” including its incredible new environment, strong female lead, new gameplay mechanics and activities, and of course, the DLC story expansion’s power-crazed antagonist. Stay tuned right here on the Mafia blog and follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube to get the news right as it hits.
Races, Car Customization and More Come to Mafia III Today
ORIGINALLY POSTED: 12/20/2016
UPDATED: 1/24/2017
As soon as we wrapped development on Mafia III, we were off to the races working on post-launch content. Last month, we delivered 11 additional outfits for Lincoln to wear while taking down the mob.
Now, it’s time to tear up the streets of New Bordeaux with Races, Car Customization and more.
Here’s what’s rolling into town for the latest Mafia III content patch.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pkm-IPzaWzE
CAR CUSTOMIZATION!
This was one of the big requests from the fans. Today, we’re delivering with some seriously cool customizations for Lincoln’s fleet of up to 10 cars. You heard that right, 10: The six you earn through playing the game, the three cars those who own the Family Kick-Back* have access to…and an unlockable 10th car which we’ll get to in a minute.
First step to your very own custom, cherry-ed out rides: Get over to one of the nine Big Rick’s Garage locations around New Bordeaux. From there, start selecting what kind of Decals, Exhausts, Spoilers, Superchargers and Wheels you want on your car. With this content patch, you’ll have over 50 unique customizations for your fleet.
We’ve also added 20 custom license plates to the game so that you can show your flair when displaying some “NWBRDX” pride or paying your respects to “MRCLAY.” So switch up those gear ratios and get ready to race!
What you’re able to install, though, is all up to what you unlock. How do you unlock these new options, you ask?
CAR RACES!
We’ve said many times that the inspiration for the driving in Mafia III were the classic car chase films of the late 1960s and early 1970s. You’ve experienced it while playing the game – now it’s time to stomp down the pedal and race! Whether you’re taking tight turns in a muscle car or blazing through oncoming traffic in an exotic model, there are 12 races for you to win throughout New Bordeaux – six circuit lap races and six point-to-point races.
The races become available after the first sit-down with all three lieutenants. Whenever you’re cruising around the open world (and not getting chased by the cops), look for the race markers on the map and drive on over in your favorite sports or exotic car.
Place in the top spots to win, unlock customizations…and get the pink slip to a 10th car you can add to your permanent fleet!
This is the Griffin Marauder! Only way you can get it is by ruling the race courses.
…MORE OUTFITS!
Cars aren’t the only ones getting a new look with this update, we’ve also rolled in three more outfits for Lincoln to rock as he makes his way through New Bordeaux.
Two of the new looks available are “Bad, Bad Mr. Burke” (complete with ‘stache and flat cap) and “On the Prowl.”
…CHANNEL YOUR INNER MAFIOSO!
If you link Mafia III with your My2K account, you can also score Lincoln a sweet three-piece suit Outfit (The “Classico”) and a custom revolver (“Il Duca”)!
My2k Sign Up is now available in-game and online – so link it up, now! Already linked? You should be able to find the Classico in your wardrobe and the arms dealer will be stocked with Il Duca right away.
…MORE ON THE WAY!
We were laser-focused to deliver this racing update so that you could roll into the New Year in style, but we do have more coming early next year. Namely, more customization and the ability to further enhance the performance of the cars in your fleet.
And, as with other updates, we continue rolling in patches and fixes as we go.
In short, we continue working to make your stay in New Bordeaux awesome.
Thanks for joining our family.
*The Family Kickback is currently available in your game system’s digital store for $4.99.
