Fire & Graphics Update

In this big update we have added a big graphics update, all new particle systems to fire magic, some polish changes to all fire spells as well as a long list of bug fixes.

Fire Magic



  • Graphics upgrade to all fire spells
  • New fire charge particles and haptics
  • Haptics improvements to all fire spells
  • Fire spark no longer has seeking when charged
  • Enemy fire sparks can now be manipulated
  • Fire arc manipulation is now improved to provide much better control
  • Fire arc gesture tweaked to make easier to cast
  • Fire spray now 50% larger and does more consistent damage
  • Fire spray cast now requires a small amount of charge to reduce misfires
  • Fire blast has a new particle system, much better damage detection and now does more consistent knockback at close range
  • Improved particle fade effects on fire spells
  • Tightened all fire gestures to reduce misfires
  • Fire burn marks are now left by fire spells when they hit parts of the environment


General



  • Added a new decal system
  • Charge instructions and videos are now added to the player menu
  • Upgrades to the haptics systems to allow for more complex haptics
  • Improved lighting on all scenes, low graphics modes should look much better now.
  • Post processing for PCVR, find this under the settings menu to enable
  • Improvements to spell casting while moving - currently this is applied to fire spark, arc and ball.
  • Optimised all fire spells to provide more consistent frame rate
  • Optimised the sandbox scene on low graphics modes
  • Enemies now have death forces applied to them correctly when they die from thermal deaths


Bug Fixes



  • Stopped players from using backpack in the arena
  • Removed spell animators from story mode spell unlocks
  • Fixed mistake in earth gauntlet description
  • Optimised air gust particle systems to reduce frame drops
  • Stopped earth magic from being unlocked at the end of story mode
  • Fixed bug where players did not die when falling off arena map
  • Enemy bodies now show when they die from thermal damage
  • Adjusted all item spawn points on the sandbox item spawners
  • Fire spells can now no longer be manipulated while holding an item
  • Removed air acceleration for air magic users to fix the case where the movement controls could be used to fly
  • Keys in story mode now save to the backpack correctly
  • Earth gloves now destroy themselves after a time to stop them building up in the scene
  • Removed plastic items from sandbox

Major Update with 2 new elements

We are happy to announce our first major update to Magitek VR just in time for the holidays. Below is a detailed list of all the new features.

Spells



  • 7 spells for Air magic - Air Blade, Gust, Air Push, Air Blade, Air Bolt, Air Blast and Hover
  • 7 spells for Earth magic - Rock Climbing, Earth Telekinesis, Boulder, Rock Fists, Earth Shield, Earth Wall and Quake.
  • 1 new Fire spell - Fire Blast


Arena Mode



  • New game mode where you battle waves of enemies in a dynamic arena
  • Our hexa-grid Arena will change mid battle to create some very interesting combat scenarios
  • Steam based Leaderboards
  • 3 new enemy types: Aero Flyers, Boulder Meka and Mortar Spiders
  • Variants on existing enemies with more health and changed attack patterns


General



  • Improved spell explanation UI with videos demoing how to cast spells
  • Huge frame rate optimizations, game is running much faster on all graphics settings.
  • Very low graphics option
  • Low physics option



Magitek VR - First Update - Hotfix 1

Spells:



  • Increased accuracy and ease of all spell casting whilst moving
  • Fire Spark: Reworked to make this more of a throwing spell. Makes for a better starter spell for the story mode.
  • Fire arc now has more area damage
  • Fire bomb has had some improvements to stop it casting by mistake
  • Improved spell casting gesture detection making it more responsive
  • Charging no longer consumes mana

Story Mode:



  • Lore page collection fix: Players can no longer re-collect lore pages. Each unique page must now be found.
  • Shard challenge updates and fixes
  • Fixes to save state for crystal shards
  • Enemy respawn rate reduced (Due to feedback from users)
  • Coin animation fixed for different save files
  • Players can now skip Carls’ audio sequences
  • Updates to fire boss in temple and island arena
  • Accessibility fixes on certain story-mode cliffs
  • Added: Buttons now available for all lifts
  • Fixed bug where zipline would sometimes become unaligned
  • Fixed bug where discovery beacons didn't light up
  • Improved buoyancy on rafts
  • Fixed mug igniting with huge flames

General:



  • Fixed floating items getting stuck after unholster and teleport bug
  • Improvements to holstered items and weapons
  • Fixed bugs on fire bomb triggering at too far a distance
  • Bow holster bug fix
  • Fixed general errors with saving
  • Improved wood shields so not they don't set on fire and hold in the hand better
