Dev Log #33: More Development Progress, Bot Brawls Server Browser & Competition!
Hello inventors!
The new update has been out for more than a week, and the excitement we've had to release this update has been immense! That's why it's super fun to see all the new and cool Bot Brawlers in the Steam Workshop. Dreams really do come true!
Thinking about it, we even might have some dev-made bots that we haven't uploaded to the workshop!
We would love to see more levels created, so we are looking into making a dummies guide to World Building . It's a very potent tool, especially now with logic & animation. Use it to push your creations to a whole new level!
We are currently working on balancing and bug fixing now with the new update in place. There is a lot to do, and we are checking them off one by one. But also, at the same time, we are looking at what the next update should contain.
We can confirm that we are currently looking into having a server browser for the bot brawls mode! So, you can jump in and get some battles on without waiting for your friends to finish their lunch. That will hopefully make you some new super best friends and bitter enemies.
That's it for the Development part of this week's dev-log! We genuinely hope you're enjoying the journey and the game so far, we certainly have, and we can't wait to share more things with you in the coming future. Until next week, please take care!

Dev Log #32: Bot Brawlers rejoice! Aquatic Bot Brawls & Community Spotlights
Hello inventors!
What a great start to the week, another update in the bag for Main Assembly. This update is so massive; there is a lot to unpack!
We hope you are enjoying all the new and cool features; we've had a lot of fun developing them, especially the new Bot Brawl mode; we are looking forward to trying out all your excellent new Bot Brawlers. We've seen that a few have already been submitted to the workshop! So gather some friends and try them out.
We assigned a couple of our designers the task of creating a bot each and now we've uploaded them to the Workshop!
Bot Brawling is something we've wanted to have in since we've started working on Main Assembly, but it's not been easy, and the relief that we've finally gotten it to work is fantastic!
With the Water Simulation feature, we might even see some aquatic bot brawls if someone creates an underwater bot-brawl arena using the new World Building features. How cool would that be? You know, it all ties together in a neat package.
So what happens now? Of course, we have some pesky bugs to take care of, and we are currently working out what the next update for Main Assembly is going to be. We hope to share some news on that next week.

Dev Log #31: New Update Coming Soon! World Building V2, Water Physics & More!
Hello inventors!
If everything goes as planned, which it will, we will be dropping a brand-new update this Monday November 9th!
The update will contain four main features: The second iteration of World Building, Water Simulation, a new level, and a new game mode (this is the best bit, stay tuned!)
It's our most significant update to date; we are delighted that everything has fallen into place, so you get to enjoy the things we have been playing around with so far.
Here's a quick summary of what's coming in the new update...
The Second Iteration Of World Building
World Building V2 will bring some nice new additions to World Building! These will include new Logic tools, Animations and even More Blocks for you all to get creative with.
The new Logic tools will allow you to do some visual scripting of world building. This includes, triggers, playing animations and other bits.
Here are some of the new Blocks:
Architecture
Decals
Extras>Lights
Triggers
Base Logic
Activities
Animation is that you can set and trigger animation keys!
It’s been very cool seeing all the content you have created with the World Building tool so far; we can't imagine what kind of things you will make with all the new fancy animations and logic features!
What wonderful new game modes will you create?
Water Physics
Soon you will be able to use new parts to create Bots that will float on water, or dive to the depths below!
We've got some NEW Drone outfits too! Here are the Diver and Sea Captain sets!
When we started working on water simulation, we didn't have underwater in mind but now you can finally build submarines, boats, jet-skis, or why not an octopus bot and use them on land AND underwater!?
Sandy Box
Size does matter! In this colossal sandbox map, you can go wild with your creations. Like Norrland, there is a lot of variety from airstrips, long open roads, and a vast sand landscape to chart. Explore SandyBox and find hidden Cosmetics.

-?????? [asset_003... not loading]
-?????? [asset_009 – note: this one's a really big deal, don’t share this with umans]
-?????? [asset_key-art-change-coming]
We thought it would be fun to take the surprise route for this part of the update. As most of us come from the AAA side of game development, we miss working in secrecy. But we think most of the community have figured out what the new game mode is.
We will have the usual bug fixes; also, you will be able to play Dummy world in sandbox mode. That means Multiplayer and World Building opportunities!

This week's Bot Build is the Dark Chariot from Hairybroness!
Taken from Hairybroness's description:
" Take your personal Dark Chariot Kart into the races with saw blade weapon on your back!
WSAD: Drive and Steer Right Mouse Button: Booster Left Mouse Button: Saw Blade (weapon is camera controlled and will focus it's swings where the camera is looking) Number 4: Engages front motors
Some interesting features of the kart:
1. Uses only standard motors. Steering, suspension, and camber are all manual. 2. Swap out wheels for the small standard and small racing for a fun change in driving dynamics. Small standard wheels are awesome drifters. This build was made around the GP tracks, and performs best there. 3. If you are flipping over, deploy the weapon while flipping and it will often put you back upright. 4. This build wouldn't be possible without the Self Collision option on the large servos. Devs, please make this universally available! 5. My inspiration was two things. Try to figure out how to use standard motors without too much bouncing and once I figured that out, to have the body articulate and move with active leaning."

Dev Log 30: World Building Logic, Stay Tuned & Community Spotlights
Hello inventors!
Wow, we've hit the 30th Dev Log for Main Assembly, wheee!
In this weeks Dev Log we’ll go through how easy it is to create your own race with the upcoming update.
World Building Logic
To create a simple Race you need to first place an Activity Launcher, This will make sure that only you see your checkpoints and your friends cannot drive into them...
Then place all your Checkpoints in your track and connect them...
After that you might want to throw in a Scoreboard and some other fun objects to complete your track and you’re all set for a race!
Stay Tuned!
Soon enough we will have a confirmed date on when all this content we’ve been teasing comes out. We’re really looking forward to seeing everything you all create in this update!

This week's Bot Build is the Tiny Pumpkin Racer from Leiywen!
We had to feature this cheeky little Pumpkin Racer for this week's Bot Spotlight, just in time for Halloween! Pressing the 1, 2 and 3 keys changes the LED lights on the front of the Kart, these can be mixed together to create some wicked colour combos! We chose green in our screenshot to fi the Halloween theme. When driving this kart around orange coloured smoke pops from the back and is speeds along, very spooky!

Dev Log 29: Halloween Surprise, More Water Progress, Secret New Game Mode Teaser
Hello inventors!
This week we will have a small surprise Halloween update for you! We have added a couple of new drone sets and given the main menu a new look.
This update also moves all the fixes and optimizations from the experimental branch over to the main branch.
More Water Progress!
Moving on to our next update, we are still working hard on it and it is getting closer to be ready for release.
We are continuing on our water implementation and adding water content to all of our levels that have water in them.
There will also be new underwater places ( with a secret or two hidden away ) to explore on both Norrland and Dummy World, which one will you explore first?
YARRRGH!!! Here is another new drone cosmetic set that will be part of the update, the Pirate Set!
New Game Mode Teaser!
We've discovered something within our new found depths, neatly tucked inside a treasure chest!
We're working on prying open the chest so we can talk about this in the coming weeks. Any guesses on what it could be?

Community Spotlight: World Building Level Of The Week
This week's Spotlight Level is DummyWorld Karting by ender.land / BrainbowBash !
This is a very impressive level, with a huge spiral around the control tower, a tube loop and a circuit around post of the park! Do you have what it takes to take on this daring challenge? Make sure not to fall to your doom on the higher up sections of track!
If you are not feeling so adventurous or daring, a low speed run around this track would make for quite a nice tour of DummyWorld, and especially at night time with the park lit up, we would highly recommend it!
Head on over to the Steam Workshop link below to test out the DummyWorld Karting! level with your Bots! Make sure to leave a like and a com to show ender.land your support.
This week's Bot Build is the Little Bugger V2 from CdrCheese and Lunchy! This was a collaborative effort from both players!
This little buggy may be small, but it's powerful and has more features under the hood too! The Little Bugger V2 features a Drift Mode, Hover Mode and a First Person Camera too!

Dev Log 28: More Water Progress & Community Spotlights
Hi there Inventors!
It's that time again for our weekly Dev Log to update you all on what is going down with Main Assembly. We are always hammering away on new content and are having a blast doing it! We are still populating the levels with seaweed, corals, and now even a fish!
We will see how far we will take this as we are currently working on many things.
Something we think is super cool is that people are already creating bots for the next update. We've seen boats and a submarine in the workshop already!
So, we have been playing around with that a bit.
With every update, we always try to add some parts and cosmetics to accompany the update. Here are some things that you can look forward to when we get the update done!
Because we are adding water buoyancy, you are going to need different sized floats for your Bots.
It's pretty essential to use them if you want to defeat the water, or else you will sink!
It's been pretty fun to try them out on all different types of bots created by you, the community!
You can find links to the community bots used in the dev log here!

Community Spotlight: World Building Level Of The Week
This week's Spotlight Level is Monster truck Play Ground by ADORABLE!
This Monster Truck Play Ground needs a BIG BOT to fully get the most out of the obstacles and loops here! Smaller bots might get broken quickly on the rough terrain, so if you're up for the challenge pick your Bot size and test it out on the playground!
Head on over to the Steam Workshop link below to test out the Play Ground with your Bots! Make sure to leave a like and a comment for ADORABLE to show your support.
This week's Bot Build is the BatTumblr from XxHotell11xX!
"I am the night!" We love this cute and compact BatMobile styled Bot! We think The Dark Night would be proud to drive this, if he could shrink down to a mini-mobile size!

Dev Log #27: World Building V2 Progress, 3 Years Of Bad Yolk Games & Spotlights
Hi there folks!
We are currently working on getting the second iteration of World Building to a releasable state, but there are many components still to sort out. Creating checkpoints with the games logic system seems to be working great even in Dummy World!
Developing Main Assembly has been extremely rewarding so far, and we can't wait to get another update out. The process of implementing something into the game and then seeing it used by the community within an instant is both fantastic and scary at the same. Fantastic in the sense of, you're seeing something you made that now has a purpose and scary because it might break and explode or do a weird dance at any second!
When we started making Main Assembly, there were so many unknowns. Especially with the internal goals we've set up. For instance, the free-form build system has come a long way since the first iterations.
Very early on in the game, we wanted to have dummies to play around with. Before Bad Yolk and Main Assembly, most of us only worked on very violent and bloody games. It feels terrific to create scenarios that don't contain that. But that doesn't mean that it can't look brutally painful sometimes!
We are looking forward to the future; there are a lot of things still to come. It feels crazy that it's already been three years since Bad Yolk Games was founded and we started working on Main Assembly. Happy belated birthday to us!

Community Spotlight: World Building Level Of The Week
This week's Spotlight Level is Spirals Of Death by Lemon Listener!
We were instantly drawn to this Level with the intense drops and huge spirals, we just had to give it a go.
Here is Lemon Listener's description for their Level!
A challenging course consisting of constant spirals and loops. Kinda built it just to test out parts. Enjoy and good luck"
This track is a long one, but it is fully worth the trip round, if you can make it! Making a speedy start from the start line may not be advised, as you can see below in our clip it may end in doom!
Do you dare take on the Spirals Of Death ?! zoom over to the Steam Workshop link below to test your skills! Make sure to leave a like and a comment for Lemon Listener to show your support.
This week's Bot Build is the Chaparral 2J from OwnedPilot!
We can't show a photo here, due to copyright, but this replica of the Chaparral 2J is amazing! We think it really does capture all of the details, the back vacuum vents, lights and even the "66" numbers are shown in detail too!
Here is the story from Owned Pilot from their Workshop description:
" Back story: When I read about the regulations of cart racing, I have a bad feeling because there is no rules stating what is allowed to generate downforce. I created a cart that had a lot of aerodynamic downforce and it worked very well. But that cart is not very impactful.
Then there comes a track made by adorable which features a huge loop. I had found that my high downforce cart cannot lap the huge loop due to the loss of speed at the top. I then thought, as the rules did not ban propellers, I will create Chaparral 2J which can generate a lot of downforce even when the car is standing still.
And then, here it is. I originally thought it would be OP due to the high downforce created by two contra-rotating propellers at the rear. But the original version has no suspension at rear meaning it is basically useless on any tracks with a lot of bumps. I thus decided to build it a working suspension only to find the weight the suspension created slowed the car down dramatically. Any way, this car is balanced and easy to drive now. It may not be as quick as my purpose built cart. But it is competitive as a replica.
Hope you enjoy!"

Dev Log #26: New Level, Water Buoyancy Progress & Community Spotlights
Hello Inventors!
Another week, another Dev Log! This week's is all about our new Level and Water Buoyancy plus we have our Community Spotlights too!
New Level!
We haven't created a new level in a while, so we have recently started playing around with that. We know some of you have caught glimpses of it here and there when we have posted things.
The Teleporter shown in the level will not be in the final version!
The new level we are working on will be the largest in Main Assembly; we think this will accommodate the World Building aspect and be fun to explore both in the air and on land.
With all the levels we create, we want to have a specific theme and play around to see what we can get in. Like always, this is in an early stage, and we don't know when we will release it.
Internally we've had a lot of fun playing in the night time mode so expect for this level to have that as well.
The overall development of the game is going great! It's nice to reach that level in the development cycle, where implementing things for the updates is going way smoother than when we first released.
Water Buoyancy
We have started to populate the levels a bit with seaweed, corals, and other underwater objects. What would you like to find under the sea? Treasure?... Shipwrecks?... NESSIE!?..
Here is a submarine we made! It's a very relaxing and cosy place when adventuring through the deep!
SEA you next week!
Community Corner!
We have been overwhelmed with how many amazing creations we have seen from our Community since the release of our World Building V1 update!

This week's World Building Spotlight also goes to Leiywen!
"Try your hand at maze bots with this amazing maze! The goal is the air race pylon! Two different ways to get there!
Have at and enjoy! Created by Leiywen and Ender.Land"
We took Baksteen's Purple Big Winged Sport Car around The Amazing Maze! Here's the Maze in action, we don't want to give away the full solution so here's a clip!
