Demo has been updated, Steam Deck support update, and other news!

Hi everyone! I've released a new demo update (patch notes below) but I also wanted to share a couple of other updates!


  1. Manafinder is now in the beta-testing phase! I'm currently estimating a September/October release timeframe! I'll shout it from the rooftops once I have an official release date.
  2. Manafinder will launch with full English and Spanish language support!
  3. Japanese translation is also underway, but in its infancy at the moment. I'll be happy to share more about this in the future. マナファインダ!
  4. ICYMI Manafinder was part of the INDIE Live Expo 2022 last week and is part of the ongoing Dreamhack Beyond this week!
  5. Thanks to Lula for confirming the Manafinder demo runs perfectly fine on Steam Deck!

Full Patch Notes



  • Added an old lady NPC in The Settlement, next to The Settlement's Temple, that tells you the story about the Foundation of Manahill. Fun fact: This cutscene was the game's intro back in 2017, but it was then removed because it was a bit too heavy on the exposition. I love it so much, but I just couldn't find a place for it!
  • Fixed a bug where Lambda would start with the wrong battler graphic in the Prologue.
  • You can now [Pet Scar] through Dama's questline and the southeastern "Petting Point" in The Settlement.
  • Added a hint in the Emerald Trail that explains how you may save your "Unleash" for another time.
  • Some text was slightly updated.
  • The settlers now have updated dialogue after you come back from your first mission. In the full release, settlers will update their dialogue as major events transpire.
  • Updated a couple of Sound Effects to rely less on RTP assets. Nothing against RTP, just a personal style choice + would make the console port easier I guess?
  • Added the "Font License" in the Title Screen.
  • The Emerald Trail tiles received a graphic overhaul to be more consistent with the rest of the game.

Manafinder is heading to Tokyo Game Show 2021 this week! (New trailer released!)

Manafinder will be part of the Tokyo Game Show 2021's Indie Game 'Selected Exhibit'!

Demo QoL (and other fixes) update released!

A demo update has been released that focuses on two new "Quality of Life" features: 'Faster Message Speed' and 'Battle Animation Speed'! Additionally, some graphical updates and bug fixes were made.

  • New features and content:
  • New Option: "Faster Message Speed" has been introduced. When enabled text speed will be displayed faster. (Default: OFF)
  • New Option: "Battle Animation Speed" has been introduced. Toggle between Normal -> Fast -> Faster -> Fastest to accelerate battle animation speed. (Default: OFF)
  • Signs have been added to points of interest in The Settlement.
  • Added some Autosave triggers after a couple of lengthy dialogues.


Visual Updates:

  • New items, skills, magics, weapons, armors, etc. are now highlighted with a red dot icon.
  • The cow, horse, and pig sprites have been updated. (Bye GIANT cows!)
  • The message portrait of King Vikar has been updated with a scar in his right eye to be consistent with his cutscene version.
  • Updated the rock sprites in the Emerald Trail. (thanks Virtua Sanus!)


Grammar/Spelling errors:

  • Fixed "commission" spelling when speaking with Mar and Sol in The Settlement. (thanks ShadowDragon!)
  • Fixed the "Brace" magic description.
  • Fixed the "Komabiscuit" item description.
  • Fixed the "M.Atk" and "M.Def" related blessings name. (Previously they were named E.Atk and E.Def since both stats were going to be named Elemental Attack and Defense in the early stages of the game).
  • Fixed "Critical Hit" spelling in multiple descriptions. (thanks Vorvek!)


Bug fixes:

  • Fixed a small passability issue on a tree next to Joachim. (thanks ShadowDragon!)
  • Fixed the walking animation of a settler. (Ear would blink on each frame). (thanks Doggy!)
  • Fixed the healing effect of the Komabiscuit.
  • Fixed a bug when speaking to the passed out settler in the temple's entrance from the side. (thanks Vorvek!)
  • Fixed the moving route of a settler near the Settlement's bridge to avoid a collision bug. (thanks ShadowDragon!)
  • Fixed a small visual bug when standing behind tents in The Settlement. (thanks ShadowDragon!)
  • Moved a Zephyrac's position near a stone ladder in the Emerald Trail to avoid a graphical bug with Lambda.
  • Fixed a minor scripting error.


Other:

  • Save Points have been removed.

Demo performance (and other fixes) update released!

A demo update has been released that includes significant performance updates! Most importantly the lag some players have experienced on the level-up screen and The Settlement have been optimized. Additionally, a new option has been added under the General section to enable a "Performance Mode" which removes some effects to further optimize performance.

New features and content:

  • Flavor text has been added to the graves in The Settlement's graveyard.
  • "Performance Mode" option has been added under the Options -> General section. Enabling it will boost performance in certain areas that use special weather effects such as The Settlement's clouds.
  • The number of available save slots has been expanded from 6 to 30.
  • A minor explanation of Spirit Dust has been added to the game's Prologue.
  • Spirit Dust bar will now change color when leveling up.
  • Additional dirt paths have been added to the Emerald Trail to make the path clearer to players.


Grammar/Spelling errors:

  • Fixed "Antidote Herb" spelling
  • Fixed some of Father Nolwenn's dialogue
  • Minor dialogue reduction when speaking to the Goddess Behra in the level-up screen.


Performance optimizations:

  • Overall performance boost by removing unused scripts.
  • Optimized the Spirit Dust donation screen to avoid severe lag spikes.


Bug fixes:

  • Fixed a small visual bug on a tree in the Violet Hills
  • Fixed a small visual bug on Joachim's head in the Emerald trailhead
  • Fixed the "Autosave" timing when praying at the Sanctuary
  • Fixed bug where Batho would disappear if you speak to him from the side
  • Fixed Prisoner Lambda's running animation when facing downwards
  • Fixed Fast Travel options when skipping Prologue


Other:

  • Added choice to open Manafinder LinkTree instead of forcefully opening it when completing the demo to make it less obtrusive
  • Slightly adjusted the vertical positioning of the map name shown when entering a new area
