STEAM ACHIEVEMENTS & FUTURE UPDATE!
Hi all, I hope your enjoying this Halloween weekend with scary movies and scary games!

I just want to give you a quick update of future plans I have for Marlene.

I am currently working on the inclusion of some fun Steam achievements which will also include substantial changes to the puzzle object locations, added sound effects and unexpected moments from the original release. Perfect for a second play-through!

Work will then commence on Act 2 which will be based around the cottage in which you will play as another lead character in the story.

I would also appreciate a quick review of the game after your play through and any feedback you might have.

Patch 1.03 - No peeking.
Today's patch blocks out the players vision when they stick they're head through puzzle room walls for crafty peeks ;)


PATCH 1.01 Available now.
The patch includes:

Performance fixes
Less intrusive teleport pointer
Stronger torch with wider beam

Hi all, I hope you are enjoying the game and thanks for all the feedback so far.

As I am hearing reports on performance issues in the opening area I will be putting out a patch today that will hopefully fix this. If you are supersampling via Steam renderTargetMultiplier this may also cause performance issues if set too high. I run a 1080 GTX at 1.2.

I will also tweak the darkness at the beginning of the game and/or give the player a more efficient torch light.

The keypad in the hallway cannot be accessed until the gas is switched off, this will be also be signposted more clearly in the patch.

Marlene will be unleashed in less than 3 days! Do you dare enter the last room?

MARLENE RELEASE DATE!
Marlene has a release date of 25/Oct/2016 at 6.00pm GMT.

Marlene (Act 1) sets you as the protagonist of a spooky horror story in which you gain insight into your sister and nieces circumstances and solve practical puzzles.

From the moment you begin you are exploring and interacting with the spooky world around you. There are no drawn out narrative pauses or empty areas. Dare you enter the final room!

Play times are around 1 hr 30 mins - 2 hrs depending on your practical puzzling skills.

The game will be priced at £7.99 at launch.

Future plans:

Steam achievements will be added in the future and I will move some things around when the time comes to keep it fresh :)


Playtester refuses to enter the final room.
Hey all, I've started having people playtest Marlene, the immersion and tension is getting the response I was hoping for and one playtester point blank refused to enter the final room due to being too scared.

I will be submitting a build to Steam for approval and continue polishing the game for release.
