Mass Exodus v1.2 Patch Notes - The Rework

The overhaul of the game is finally done, and should fix almost every issue people have had with the game

We’re sorry it took so long but it’s worth it!

Here’s a quick summary of some of the bigger things that have changed, amongst others that didn't make the list!

New!

  • New VR area for Main menu and lobby
  • Post processing effects for the Seeker to make the game much prettier!
  • Blind has been changed to distort, it no longer removes vision from the Seeker but makes it much harder to see
  • Pickup sphere for the right hand to make picking up androids much more accurate
  • Win / Lose screen unique for both players, as well as options to retry or quit the game
  • Ready up screen for the PC player has an extra step to show what inputs everyone is using and to confirm they’re working
  • More options for level customisation
  • Sensitivity for Mouse and Controllers can now be adjusted in game
  • A brightness slider has been added to the options menu
  • New loading screen
  • Teleporters now have icons on the mini-map

Reworked!

  • Completely new AI system which is smarter, quicker and better on performance
  • Mini-map has received a beautiful new look - which shows less of the map to stop players from just watching the seekers head
  • All animations have been updated for the rogue and androids
  • Seeker’s handheld remote (left hand) has new UI to show more accurate information
  • Lighting and effects have all received visual updates
  • Teleporters on The Core have received a new particle effect and transition animation
  • UI additions have been made to give the player guidance such as how many panels are left to turn off
  • Freeze AI has been adjusted so that all robots randomly stop within 0.5 seconds to allow the rogue time to react
  • Invisibility has received a new visual effect

Online Multiplayer Changes

If you wish to continue playing online multiplayer, please update to the BETA version of the game. This will not effect people with the PC only client

Hello everyone,

As we mentioned back in September when we started the game rewrite, we are temporarily removing online multiplayer. This is to allow us to get a revised version out as early as possible.

We hope you understand, and we’ll continue to post updates here and on twitter as the game progresses.

Thanks for your continued support.

Bug Fixes, purchase problems and performance.

Hey everyone

Thank you yet again for your continued support with Mass Exodus, today there's a couple of things that we want to talk about.

The Game

We understand that there are some glaring issues with the most recent patch, as well as some underlying issues that we want to fix quickly.

Due to the way the game was made (through a game jam), the base code is not in a stable state to keep updating, so we're rebuilding it from the ground up. This will improve performance amongst other things, drastically.

We aim to have this finished within the next week or two, and hopefully this will resolve almost all of the issues people have been having with the game.

VR client and PC client

We've found since launching the PC client of the game, theres some big issues that stop you from upgrading to the VR version, or gifting either versions to a friend.

Currently the game has 2 app IDs, but your Steam library only checks to see you have one. So it almost merges them if you upgrade, causing big issues.

We're talking to some of the Steam / Valve team at the moment, on making it so the game is easier to purchase and understand, the new system will hopefully be as follows:

  • VR Client will be removed from the Store

  • PC Client will remain as it is

  • DLC to upgrade unlock VR features (This will be given to everyone who originally owned the VR version of the game)

Hopefully this will resolve all issues people have been having with the game, purchasing, and even playing without issues.

We'll post here once the game updated.

Thank you
The Polymerse Team

Thanks for your feedback, here's what's coming soon!

Hey everyone!

We hope you're enjoying the newest update from Mass Exodus, and we really appreciate all the feedback we've had from it.

We understand that there are some core issues for several players, and we obviously need to fix them as soon as we can.

Due to the nature of which the game was made - starting as a game jam, then converting to online multiplayer etc - we've found that a large portion of the game needs replacing to make updates and fixes much easier to push.

We're currently revamping the majority of the game, including the following:

  • New Menu Interface for VR and PC
  • Better Multiplayer systems
  • Much better performance for all users
  • Reworked AI for androids

Here at Polymerse we want the best product possible, so spending a little time to make Mass Exodus the best game it can be is our top priority.

The new update will be pushed in the coming weeks, so keep your eyes peeled!

Thank you for your patience and continued support

We would like to thank everyone who informed us about these problems and made suggestions.

  • Added a new way to grab robots as the seeker, using a small sphere as a guide you can pick out the rogue amongst a crowd much easier
  • Added controls help to the Ready Up screen
  • Region selection menu to improve online connection

Fixes

  • Invisibility no longer shows the rogue player as black instead of transparent
  • Camera / player no longer moves while typing in the chat box or while paused
  • Adjusted distance required to activate control panels, which should now be easier to activate
  • Scanner now recharges if the setting is enabled in custom game settings
  • Screen resolution should now scale correctly
  • You can no longer move upwards through the ceiling as the Seeker on The Boiler Room map
  • The mini-map for PC players will now show at the start of the game on The Core level

  • Fixed an issue on the Boiler Room where the Seeker’s hand would disappear

We’re currently working on an exiting new project which we can reveal soon, but we will keep a keen eye on the Mass Exodus forums to see what needs adding or changing. We are aware of a couple bugs regarding multi-player which we are still working on.

If you have time to, leaving a review on our store page helps us massively.

Thanks to everyone that has supported us so far.

Multiplayer : Region Fix

As some of you will be aware Mass Exodus was experiencing some issues with region locking.

We believe that we have fixed the issue but we haven't been able to test it with all server regions so If you experience any more problems please let us know.

The update was published on the 30th of may so if you've updated the game anytime after that then you should already have the fix.

Thank you for your patience,

Mass Exodus v0.1 The Boiler Room

Hello Everyone!

The Boiler Room is ready to be pushed out of beta and into the main game!

Now enjoy up to five player local multiplayer mode on both Assembly Line and the Boiler Room (4 pc vs 1 VR). In addition, we have adapted the amount of starting power ups depending on the amount of PC players. The second map is considerably larger than the first map and this is where we recommend 1 v 4 games, however it will remain balanced depending on the number of players.

For this update we’ve also added custom gameplay settings which will allow you to change the game parameters to adjust to your specific play styles, including the ability to pick up power-ups around the map once you’ve used them.

Future updates will bring online multiplayer to the game which will allow non VR owners to play against, and with VR players, as well as additional maps and VR vs VR game-modes.

Thank you for supporting Mass Exodus,
Let us know if you have any feedback!

Coming Soon - You asked, we deliver!

Hey everyone, we hope you're enjoying the game so far!

We've been pushing small updates throughout the development of the game, but we thought it's about time for something big. This among other things will be added to the game soon!

Introducing The Boiler Room!

This is a large scale map, designed for more players, which is now possible due to controller support! You will be able to play 1 vs up to 4 players in this level, and the original one shipped with the game!

As more real players are added, more control panels are required to destroy the seeker and less robots roam the factory!

Also as requested, when any of your powerups are gone, you can explore the level and refill one by collecting a blue holographic cog!

We have a lot in store, and we can't wait to share it with you.
Have fun and Good Luck escaping The Boiler Room!

The map, controller support and 1v4 support has now all been added to the public beta build.

Level customisation has now been added to the beta!
To find this, before you hit start game on the level selection screen hit "Game Settings".

Thanks
