You've spoken, and we've heard - Master Spy has a new, easier Novice Mode!
In this new Novice mode, we went through the code of almost every enemy and obstacle and reduced speeds and increased delays to try to create a less demanding, but still challenging game mode.
We also spot checked a lot of the more demanding screens of the game, and removed or substituted obstacles that were more on the extreme side for this mode.
Additional Updates
The old novice mode is still intact as Operative Mode, and is the default mode.
If you had a saved game in progress, it will not be effected but the name will change to reflect whether it is the new Novice mode or Operative mode.
We also used this as an opportunity to review checkpoint placement, and we've added over 20 more checkpoints throughout the game (for Novice, Operative, and Level Select).
Additionally, we've added options in the pause menu that allow you to switch between Novice, Operative, and Narrative modes on the fly! This is so if anyone gets completely stuck on a level, they can switch to an easier difficulty just for that level so that they can continue to progress through the game. Do note that if used this will add the word "MIXED" to the final score screen next to the name of the game mode.

Testers Wanted! New *Easier* Novice Mode

How to test out the new Novice Mode (you must already own Master Spy):
In your Steam Library, locate and right click on Master Spy
Select "Properties"
Click on the "Betas" tab
In the dropdown under "Select the beta you would like to opt into", select "test".
No beta code is required. You can now close the properties window and the update should automatically queue up for download.

We're introducing a new Narrative mode that allows you to enjoy the levels, cutscenes, and RAC OST at your own pace without getting caught!
Throw on the new ghost cloak in this mode to:
- Tame dogs and big cats. Whose a good boy? They are!
- Befuddle security guards and robots! They won't even see you coming!
- Render yourself impervious to assassin strikes, traps, and other dangers!

Master Spy at Summer Games Done Quick!
We're super excited to announce that Master Spy is being ran at SGDQ this year!
Tune in to the Games Done Quick stream to support speed runner Obidobi on Monday June 25th, 4:00 pm central time.
New motion sensor guard at first motion sensor encounter. Should help new players distinguish the nature of the motion sensors.
Checkpoint placement changes to level 5.07 to make the level more fair/less frustrating.

Update Notes:
More forgiving Sawblades - Sawblades in Mission 3 will no longer hit you while their retract and extend animations are playing. While still challenging, this change should help smooth out the difficulty curve of the game.

Master Spy Cinema Update
For those wanting to go back and rewatch the cutscenes you've unlocked, check out this update, grab some popcorn, and kick back. Cutscenes unlock via Story mode progress, Level Select progress, or Cheat Codes, to fit your play style.
