Content Update 2

The development of Alpha 1 has come to an end and Alpha 2 is beginning. A summery of changes can be found at the bottom of this announcement. Modding support has been expanded along with a WIP Modding Project with an example map.

The art style will be moving to retro 80s scifi in retro 90s graphics. The purpose of this change is to allow more expression in style, keeping development costs down, and allow lower end computers to easier run. Some concept art has been created, including two pirate improvised combat vehicles.

Alpha 2 will aim to improve the career mode with better contract variety, changes to the salvage system, market available during mech customization, loans system, dropships and other quality of life changes.

- Falcon Mech's right arm 4 slot ballistic hardpoint changed to 5 slot.

The first content update is here. A new map, mission type and 6 hover vehicles have been added along with many smaller changes like 2 new artillery missiles and charge cycle lasers.

Fixes:
- Fixed performance issue with "White Stone Desert 1".

- Fixed tier 11 kill bounty value.
- AI should now take jamming into account and not jam their weapons.

- RACs jamming does not decay while the weapon is firing, but decays faster when stopped firing.
- Small lasers do more damage, but fire slower and keep the same DPS.

Misc:
- Disabled minimap texture on radar.
- Added arrow on radar that points in direction of legs.
- Cockpit glass temporarily disabled.
- Mission pay now multiplied by difficulty tier multiplier.
- Doors and terminals in the career mode screens interact instantly and hovering over doors will open them.
- Updated Engine to Unity 2019.4.2f1



Experimental Branch

An Experimental branch for the game has been created, and is publicly available. The purpose of an experimental branch is a place for content and features to be created quickly before testing and merging changes back into the default branch. An experimental branch by its very nature is less stable and more buggy, so you should only play the experimental branch if you are okay with broken unfinished features and occasional crashes.

The current biggest change in the experimental branch is the addition of 6 hover tanks.

  1. Right click Mech Merc Company from your Steam library.
  2. Click "Properties" to open the properties menu.
  3. Click the "BETAS" tab.
  4. Click the drop down menu, and select "experimental".
