Hi everyone!

It’s been a while since we announced Medieval Archery Simulator. There’s still a lot of work ahead of us and we want to make sure that our game will give you the best archery experience possible. At the moment we’re at the stage of implementing some of the crucial mechanics and we wanted to share our progress with you, so you will know what to expect in the final version.

Bows and techniques

Because we want to provide players with a unique experience, Medieval Archery Simulator will feature many drawing techniques. We’re currently working on:

🏹 Mediterranean draw - using three fingers.
🏹 Kyūdō - Japanese draw.
🏹 Pinch draw - thumb and index finger.



We also plan to add less popular techniques, such as styles typical for African or Indian tribes, because the representatives of various nations will appear in the game.

Competitions

There’s much more to come, but we wanted to present you three of the competitions that will for sure appear in the game. We’ve decided to add different tournaments to give every drawing technique a proper highlight.

🏹 Shooting at an apple - reference to the legend of Wilhelm Tell.



🏹 Bells hanging on strings - archer has to cut the rope with an arrow, bell will make a sound when it hits the ground.




🏹 Hanging rolls with red tips, so called “matches” - often swayed, archer has to shoot the red part.



🏹 Flemish pigeons - targets in the shape of bird silhouettes; it’s inspired by an old game, in which Dutch people were shooting pigeons sitting on roofs of churches.



Research

We want to make sure that our simulator adequately reflects the archery reality. Therefore, we consulted with people knowledgeable in history of archery, museologists and used our private documentation that we have gathered throughout all the years of our interest in archery.
