Announcing The Grand Melee!
Hello, Engineers!
We would like to tell you the tale of the evil Medieval Engineer who became king after his good brother slipped on a banana peel and broke his neck, banished his deceased brother’s children from the realm, doubled taxes across the land (hence the angry barbarians who are in a perpetual state of rebellion against the crown’s new taxes), and banned the mead machine from the Engineers break room.
Anyway, to celebrate the beginning of the evil Medieval Engineer king’s reign, he decided to organize a tournament! The grandest tournament the kingdom had ever seen! A tournament that…
Okay, so none of that actually happened. And for the record, the aforementioned tale of the evil Medieval Engineers king is not official Medieval Engineers lore.
However, what is official is that we’re very excited to announce The Grand Melee!

Incorrect Notification About NVIDIA Drivers
Hi Engineers,
NVIDIA recently released a new major graphics driver version 411.63. This change of the major version number is causing notifications in Space Engineers and Medieval Engineers about out of date drivers. This notification is incorrect and can be safely ignored. We will patch the games soon to correct this problem.
Thanks for your understanding
Update 0.6.4 Patch 3 - Minor Update
Hello, Engineers!
Like last week, we have two things for you: a developer diary, and more bugfixes! In today's developer diary we are joined by Sergey Leonidov, one of the designers on the Medieval Engineers team. We go into an in-depth discussion about the ideas that went into, and the processes behind, the creation of the new combat system.
Additionally, we have a few small changes for you today. The most important one is the fix for the crash to desktop that you have been reporting when placing blocks on the toolbar, or scrolling through the variants. For those technical among you, it was caused by a race condition between the loading thread and the rendering thread.

Update 0.6.4 Patch 2 - Minor Update
Hello, Engineers!
Today we have two things for you: A developer diary, and some bugfixes! In today's developer diary we discuss a rough overview of the development process of the 0.6.4 update, the main ideas behind our combat system, as well as a collection of other features that were part of this update.
The bugfixes focus on solving crashes, balance issues, and various other issues reported by you. Thanks for sending us the reports, keep them coming in! In addition, we updated the mod and blueprint uploading process to give a more helpful message when the thumbnail exceeds Steam's regulations.
Enjoy the update!

Update 0.6.4 Patch 1 - Minor Update
Hello, Engineers! We had an exciting week following the release of 0.6.4, and we see you have been enjoying the combat update as well! Many servers sprung back to life, and a lot of tournaments have been held in honor of the new combat mechanics. We have worked hard to tackle the most urgent issues as fast as we could, including an issue where all research was lost, or where structural integrity suddenly failed. And, of course, address the new crashes. Keep sending in those crash logs guys!
We also uploaded the stream to Youtube. The release stream had some internet connectivity issues in the beginning, so we had to edit it a little, but after the first half hour it stabilized and you can watch the stream again.

Update 0.6.4 - Major Overhaul of Combat
Medieval history has countless examples of conflict and war. For this reason, combat has always been part of the plan for Medieval Engineers. So for 0.6.4 we have overhauled the combat mechanics entirely to make the combat feel more alive and exciting, and to provide more interesting fights. Additionally, we have overhauled the resource balance, updated the HUD for readability, implemented a new chat system, and many quality of life improvements. There's bound to be something for everyone in this patch!

After the release, we'll be streaming multiplayer gameplay with the community live on KCN with hosts Tim "Deepflame" Toxopeus and Joel "Xocliw" Wilcox!
Coming soon in Medieval Engineers: VRage Remote Client, Resource Rebalance, Improved HUD and Chat
Improved HUD Design
HUD improvements will include backgrounds to increase quest readability and a completely redesigned chat system. Chat will be improved and expanded to give players more control over communication with features that have long been requested by the Medieval Engineers community. New channels will be created for private chat, local chat, and chatting with members of your house. Chat will have history so you never miss another message. Chat commands will provide quick actions such as playing character animations. The new chat system will be moddable including channels, filters, and commands. If we don't get it just right for you and your friends then it can be modded your own way.
Resource Rebalance
The resources will be rebalanced to improve gameplay and pacing. Players should be able to make reasonable progress within the timespan of an average play session. Inventory stack sizes, block components, and other costs will change to balance the time spent gathering against the time spent crafting and building. This will let you spend as much time on making your perfect castle as you do mining and lumberjacking!
Vrage Remote Client
A new server manager client for Keen Software House games will allow you to monitor and manage all of your dedicated servers remotely. It will include features like monitoring server performance, session settings management, player management, faction management, chat, message of the day, the ability to start/stop/restart servers, and the ability to trigger a game save at any time.
