Medusa's Labyrinth

Medusa's Labyrinth VR just hit the Steam store

So, after a stressfull day of scrambling to get everything ready the launch day finaly came. We did manage to get most of the things we wanted into the game, but we are already working on a list of things to fix in the near future.

A special thanks to those of you who've already started using our community forums for the VR version (and here), your feedback is invaluable and the basis on which we create improvements to the game. We really hope that you enjoy Medusa in VR, but if you don't we'd really like to know why and hopefully it's something we can fix.

Our next step is to keep improving the game as well as continue our progress on the sequel. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. We don't bite, but there are things in the sequel that will. OOPS, spoilers!

That is all for today, take care and have a great weekend!

We stole a page out of Marvels playbook (new post-credits scene)

Just a quick update, but lots of things are happening in the office.
In just a few weeks we launch the VR-version of Medusa, so we are doing our best to spread the word about the upcoming launch. Any help would be appreciated!

Also, as a way of saying thanks to you guys and giving you a hint of things to come we've added a post-credits scene to the game! It's just a small teaser scene from our new project, but it might give you an idea of how the second game in the Medusa universe will look when it comes out next year.

As always, thanks for coming along with us on the journey, we really appreciate your support!

Medusa's Labyrinth will soon be available in VR!

The store page for Medusa's Labyrinth VR just went live and opened up for the Medusa community. This is the next step for us at Guru, but not the final destination.

As most of you know Medusa's Labyrinth launched for free here on Steam more than 1 year ago, and since then we have worked together with you to implement requests, iron out bugs and plan a more ambitious sequel. The VR version came about because you requested it, and because we love experimenting with new technology. It comes with a pricetag, and all sales will go towards funding the next installment of Medusa, which we hope to launch in the first half of 2018.

Thank you so much for sticking with us so far, and we really hope you will stay with us the rest of the way! If you have any questions let us know, and we'd be very happy if you wishlist the VR-version here on Steam.

You can wishlist it here.

With regards

The Guru Games development Team

It may not be a minotaur, but...

...we just launched our next game on steam! It's very different from what we usually do, so we understand if it's not your cup of tea. But if you want to support us and you are a fan of classic twin-stick mayhem you should give it a try.

Blamdown has a much smaller project that we finished independently of any publisher or investor, while we where looking for a partner for our next bigger title. Please let us know what you think, and have an amoosing day!

Second game with horned creature out now on Early Access

TLDR: We love you, new game Blamdown: Udder Fury out now on early acces!

Hey people!

First off all, all of us at Guru Games who worked long hours on Medusa want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Your engagment with our game has made us feel truly special, and boosted morale on those long nights of crunching away at the game, wondering if we are going to be able to afford rent next month.

The reason Medusa is such a short game is simply that we could not afford to make something bigger without funding, no matter how much we wanted to. So, thanks to so many of you picking it up, we have made the rounds to a number of publishers, from big ones like Namco Bandai to smaller ones like Devolver asking for someone to help us make this dream of ours come true.

Sadly those negotiations have taken up a lot of time, and while that goes on we've toild away on a much smaller game, a very different game that we launched two days ago on Steam Early Access.

We know that it's nothing like Medusa, so if you want a horror experience I would not recommend it. We created it to be something funny and casual, a break from all the serious, slow and pondering things we usually make. Now, our plan is still to continue with our beloved Greek setting again in the fall, but for now it's all about cows and chaos.

It would mean the world to us if you would give Blamdown a chance, and give us your feedback on it, just like you've done with Medusa. The best way for us to improve as developers is to learn what you want us to make.

You can get Blamdown: Udder Fury here.

Sorry for the long post,
Hope you have an awesome day!

150 000 Downloads and the most popular horror game of 2016!

Wow. You guys have blown us away!

Not in a million years would we have excepted to reach over 150 000 users here on steam when we launched this teaser version of our game back in february. All we wanted to do was share a small part of our vision with you guys, and look where we ended up. Words are not enough to describe how grateful we are for making this the most popular game on steam that has launched in 2016. But our story does not end here!

What the future holds

As we have said before Medusa is not something that we want to let go of just yet. It's our baby in a way, and we want to see it grow up and become successfull. At this moment we are still in negotiations with a number of publishers, and thanks to you guys we have some great data to show them. If 150 000 people were willing to give this short version a chance then there is a strong indication that a larger game will attract a significant number of people, even when it comes with a pricetag.

These negotiations take time, so just as we have to be patient with them we ask you to have some with us. I promise you we are doing our best to bring you the scariest freaking game we possible can.

We are still looking to collect more feedback on this version of Medusa so please help us reach even more people if you can!
All the best,
Daniel

New uppdate with requested fixes and celebrating 25 000 downloads!

Medusa has only been out for a little more than a week and have been excited and a little nervous about what kind of feedback we would get on launch. As it turns out most of you seem like our game and we could not be more happy with the reactions we've gotten. We have also gotten some good suggestions on improvements and features that you want, so today we launched a patch that focused on the following issues:

  • Fixed issue with delay in the sound, footsteps and jump.
  • Fixed missing collision in the outside area
  • Added option to enable invert Y
  • Fixed problems with sounds triggering multiple times.
  • Split second father note in to two separate notes.

We also just hit 25 000 downloads! Yay! The number of Collector's edition sales are still very low (less than 100) but a lot of you are trying out the game, which was our goal from the start. If you would like to support us please consider getting the art book as well, as it would really help us keep a roof over our head, but don't sweat it if you don't have the cash, we understand :)

Have a wonderful weekend, and may poseidon fill all your cups with delicious wine!
