Hello! Steam Next Fest is starting today, and Sock It is a part of it!
It's a wacky boxing game inspired by Punch Out with platforming segments and cutscenes! If you have a half hour and like silly games with spectacle action, then go check it out!
Hey all, Since MMII was streamed at AGDQ, I thought it would be a good idea to put some stuff for my upcoming game here.
Meegah Mem was always a meme game, so I didn't put that much effort into it. This project is a project I'm legitimately trying my hardest with though.
This game is called Sock It. It's a spiritual successor to Punch Out, and I'm planning on putting 12 wacky characters in, along with cutscenes and jogging segments.

The game is mechanically similar with a few tweaks. You still use high and low punches to attack the opponent, but in this game just weaving to the side won't be enough. Different attacks have different cues, and require different actions to avoid. Some actions you dodge, some you dodge a certain way, and some you have to block. You can even parry blockable attacks with good timing for a chance to really counterattack!
The enemies are a lot weirder this time. You fight a 500 year old man, an amalgamation of cats, and even a refridgerator!
The Glass Cannon is very basic, and teaches you to counter attacks correctly.
Cats is... well... a bunch of cats in humanoid form. Beware their claws!
Vince is a refrigerator that feels unwell. Give him a wide berth when he chucks food!
Also, I plan to use lots of psudo 3d effects, as demoed in the main menu.
It's also in the Godot engine, so the hurdles of the last engine I used that contributed to my game being very messily coded/completely broken are not a problem. So far, it's very stable!
A steam page should be coming up with the demo. I'm planning on releasing it on the Steam Fest after next; I missed registration.
Hope you check this game out at some point! I'll probably have more news and stuff on my Youtube Channel
Also, shoutouts to LVCreed for speedrunning Meegah Mem II at GDQ!
Run is at 2 : 25 : 00 https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1262057821

1.0.1 Update
Small patch that fixes some things:
*Final cutscene killing Meegah Mem
*Removed laser sounds that play before Kwik Mem boss room
*Removed extra leave sound after a stage is done
I also updated the game's properties to correctly state that the game was published in 2019 rather than 2018. Whoops! That's long it's been in development. Anyways, thanks!

Meegah Mem II: OUT NOW!!!
That's right: it's done early! It's actually been done for a bit now, and the bugtesting has concluded, so I decided to release it. If you do find major bugs, just let me know in the discussions. Thanks!

For those with legal concerns
Hello, everyone!
I've found that some people have some legal concerns about my product. I just thought that I'd state that, for the record, this game is a parody, and is a tranformative work. This is due to these reasons:
1. All graphics and scripts are made by me.
2. Music is also performed by me, but I don't have perfect pitch, and perform with a kazoo, so the tracks are, as a result, original
3. The level design in general, while resembling the level design of Mega Man 2, actually differs a bit since I cut parts out due to lack of knowledge of how to code some enemies and obstacles.
If anyone has anything to say about this, feel free to let me know in the comments of this announcement. Thanks!
