MEMORIES OF MARS - Mega Balance Patch is live (Patch #7)
Dear Martians,
This is not the expected patch you get every week that fixes glitches & issues. This is probably our most important patch since we launched in Early Access on the 5th of June 2018.
So what's changed? Well, besides the usual patch notes let's say that we have totally re-balanced the game. We took all your feedback from Steam, Discord, Twitter and all our channels and used this to improve a number of things. Some of these are the following:
The early game experience: In order to speed up the learning curve, we have implemented an interactive tutorial in the beginning of the game which you need to go through in order to spawn out in the world of Mars.
FLOPS and resources: We've made sure there are plenty of FLOPS and resources for players to unlock the most advanced skills and be able to aford the higher tier items. You will also immediately notice you can craft a higher quantity of bullets to make sure there is plenty of shooting action.
But we don't want to spoil all the fun. There are more changes which we'll let you discover!
Here is the patch breakdown in bullet point form:
Tutorial: an extension of the cloning chamber to teach new clones basic skills:
• Using consumables
• Crafting tools
• Mining resources
• Crafting ammo
• Basic combat
• Building a foundation of a structure.
Anti-grind: balance adjustments to make the beginning experience more accessible to new players.
• Increased ammo count per crafting action (x3-4)
• Increased FLOP drops from AI (x2) and loot pickups (x2-3)
• Revamped supply crate loot: Guaranteed FLOPs
• Included item drops, including blueprints and jackpots
• Increased resource diversity
• Removed gating resources from Pulse Excavator (Al) and Blast Furnace (Mg)
• Increased stack sizes of common resource loot (e.g. Nitrate 1-3 --> 3-5)
• Increased overall loot spawn (x1.5)
*Additional clan patterns were also added
Patch time: 15:00 CET (6th of September 2018)
Let us know your thoughts regarding the above changes.
Regards,
The Limbic Dev Team.
MEMORIES OF MARS - Season 2 - Patch 6 Info
Dear Martians,
ADDITIONS The follow has been newly added to the game.
• New patterns added.
FIXES The following has been fixed.
• Device highlighting issues introduced last patch.
• Text judder in the server browser.
• Server crash on shutdown (Private servers were mainly effected by this).
• Fix to the hidden AI.
• Standing-up behavior of crouched characters underneath objects and player made structures.
• Open doors no longer block projectiles
CHANGES The following has been adjusted or changed.
• Several server optimizations (most notably buildings optimizations, so building-heavy PVE servers will most benefit)
o Previously the server took a lot of time to determine that the progress of building parts and the customization of it did not change and there is nothing to replicate. So what we do now instead is to manually mark the components as "dirty" when it changes and only replicate them if they are dirty (which of course resets the "dirty" flag)
o Of course, for players that see a building for the first time, all components are dirty. To avoid spikes in the frame time, we also limit the amount of dirty component replications to 32 per replication of the building
• Improved handling of blueprint decryption.
• Improved data tracking logs (under the hood for now).
Known issues
These are issues found in testing that we are aware of and will be fixed in subsequent patches.
• It’s possible that if you jump at the same time as performing a vault your character could become stuck (very rare). A quick log in and out of the server will resolve the issue.
Kind Regards,
The Limbic Dev Team
MEMORIES OF MARS - No Patch Thursday.
Dear Martians,
Little bit of communication for you today: There will not be a full client patch as today is the day we will do the large data base merge between official server rulesets. To clarify what that means. Your character progression will now go with you regardless of what official server you are playing on, PvP to PvE etc… You not take with you your inventory, action bar or player base. They will stay on the server they were obtained.
Flops stored in a Memory lab are stored globally so doesn’t matter where you use one. Emergency capsules in the new season will also be stored globally, so again doesn’t matter what server you would start on.
This is of course just the first step of using this feature and we have a lot more exciting ideas in the pipeline to come.
Internally we are finally in the polish and tweaking phase of a large patch that will come this season. No spoilers as for what it will contain just yet.
What I can do for you though is give you a preview of what to expect in next week’s patch, which we aim to push out on Tuesday, subject to testing.
• Fix for device highlighting issues introduced last patch.
• New Patterns.
• Text judder in the server browser fixed.
• Open doors no longer block projectiles.
• Improved data tracking logs.
• Server crash on shutdown (Private servers were mainly effected by this).
• Fixed standing-up behaviour of crouched characters underneath objects and player made structures.
• Improved handling of blueprint decryption and improved logs
• Fix to the hidden AI (They were spawning, just in the wrong places).
• Several server optimizations (most notably buildings optimizations, so building-heavy PVE servers will most benefit)
- Tech note for anyone interested in what that actually means.
- Previously the server took a lot of time to determine that the progress of building parts and the customization of it did not change and there is nothing to replicate. So what we do now instead is to manually mark the components as "dirty" when it changes and only replicate them if they are dirty (which of course resets the "dirty" flag)
- Of course, for players that see a building for the first time, all components are dirty. To avoid spikes in the frame time, we also limit the amount of dirty component replications to 32 per replication of the building.
All servers will go down at around 1500 CEST. There will be nothing to download as it’s a server data base merge. When servers come up you will simply notice that your character on a PvE server and PvP server are now ‘the same’.
Kind Regards,
The Limbic Dev Team
MEMORIES OF MARS - Season 2 - Patch 5 Info
Dear Martians,
Here is Patch #5 for Memories of Mars Season 2:
ADDITIONS
The following new additions been added to the game.
• New patterns added for community event give away.
FIXES
The following has been fixed.
• Improvements to Vehicle collision between Players and Ai (test server only).
• Players are no longer able to vault through Ballistic glass windows (or any window).
• Vehicle net code improvements (test server only).
• PDA map. Correct marker type will now be displayed when switching from alliance marker to personal marker.
• Fix for how Demolition charge and HESH grenade damage is calculated.
o This fix should make base raiding less – Destroy everything because it’s easy.
o Further adjustments to the base raiding system will be implemented in the coming weeks..
o This is not a fix for the damage modifiers as previously discussed on Discord with user Styx. That fix is coming soon.
CHANGES
The following has been adjusted or changed.
• We have changed the way the highlight shader works for devices.
• Only NPC devices that are interactable will glow, player devices will no longer glow.
Known issues
These are issues found in testing that we are aware of and will be fixed in subsequent patches.
• There is a possibility that when using the Research centre to decrypt schematics that a noticeable delay happens when switching from decrypt to download. We are aware of this issue and investigating the why this delay can occur.
• It is advised that once you have decrypted a schematic to not remove it machine before having downloaded it as you will lose your flops.
• You do not have to stand looking at the device, you can leave the device, go loot and come back. This is mechanically correct.
• We plan to change the point at which flops are removed from the player (during download, not decrypt). This will come soon.

The Limbic Dev Team
MEMORIES OF MARS - Get your clan/player pattern into the game!
Howdy Martians,
We have a little message from our Art director for you all:
Limbic art team can design a limited number of clan/player patterns. To start we will take 3 applications as a test run, with the intention of opening the gates, should everything work out nicely.
Patterns will be designed completely by Limbic artist to avoid any potential copyrights/intellectual property issues with content provided by community.
What the art team needs to know before they design something:
1) Name of the clan/alliance (if you are dedicating a pattern to that specifically).
2) Style of the pattern, Military? Funny? Standing out? Camouflaging? Any information that will help capture the alliance spirit.
Things to avoid asking for:
1. The use vulgar or offensive language. We will check different languages. We are the judge on what is offensive.
2. No individual brand licenses. We can produce logos in the likeness but not exact copies(potential IP issues).
3. Don’t ask us to do anything that would be deemed directly offensive to others.
The more information you can provide, the more of your vision you can express, the more likely it is for your pattern to get chosen. Applications are open to everyone. We have however been advised that players in larger clans, have larger communities or a certain amount of other people backing them, have a better opportunity of being chosen in this 1st round.
These rules can and will be adjusted should everything run smoothly, both from a community and a production standpoint.
You are free to PM Moderator @Offtime with your applications in our Discord channel here --> https://discord.gg/memoriesofmars
As of yet we have no application deadline.
Regards,
The Limbic Dev Team.
