November 23rd 2023, Development Update
Today (Thursday, November 23) is Thanksgiving Day in the United States. Many members of our team are celebrating this holiday by spending time with their families, so today's Development Update will be abbreviated. We will return with a full Development Update next week on Thursday, November 30.
As a reminder, our next Developer Livestream is scheduled for Wednesday, November 29 at 10:30am PST (1830 UTC). It will be broadcast live on our Twitch channel, but if you are unable to watch the panel of Jorg, Seb, Martial, and special guests in real-time, we will also upload the archived video to our YouTube channel within a day or two of the initial broadcast. We will also post a written summary on our forums.
We are currently running a Black Friday Sale in the Marketplace. For 5 Days starting on November 23rd, save up to 93% on more than 1750 items! To purchase these discounted items, visit the Microsoft Flight Simulator Marketplace, select ‘Featured’, scroll down to ‘Special Offers’, then select ‘See All’ and look for the savings.
To anyone who has not yet purchased Microsoft Flight Simulator, now is a great time to jump in! All versions are currently on sale for 40% off the regular price! On Xbox and the Windows Store, this sale runs until November 30th. On Steam, the sale ends on November 28th.
To our players celebrating Thanksgiving today, we wish you and your families safe travels and a holiday filled with warmth and joy. Here on the MSFS Team, we are grateful for you, the players and fans in the flight simming community! Your passion for Microsoft Flight Simulator continually motivates and inspires us.
We released a new pre-release test build (1.35.15.0) for the Sim Update 14 beta on Monday. You can read the release notes on our forums here. If you would like to enroll in the beta test (available for PC/MS Store, PC/Steam, and Xbox Series X|S), you can find instructions here.
Our next Developer Livestream is scheduled for Wednesday, November 29 at 10:30am Pacific Standard Time (1830 UTC) on our official Twitch channel. Thank you to everyone who submitted questions in advance! We are currently reviewing all your submissions and tabulating the most commonly-asked questions.
While our panel will only be addressing serious questions during the livestream, we appreciated some of your more humorous submissions! There was one question in particular that we wanted to answer early. To the person who asked us to state the airspeed velocity of an unladen Cessna: according to the Pilot's Operating Handbook, the Cessna 172 has a never exceed speed of 163 knots, a cruise speed of 122 knots, and a maneuvering speed of 90 knots (at 1900 lbs gross weight). We hope this adequately answers your question!
Please note that there will not be a Marketplace update next week (Thursday, November 23). This date is the Thanksgiving holiday in the United States, so most of the team will be out of office spending time with their families. The next Marketplace update will be on Thursday, November 30.
Earlier this week, we released World Update XV: Nordics & Greenland. This region contains some of the most stunningly beautiful natural scenery found anywhere in the world, and we're thrilled to enhance the area in Microsoft Flight Simulator with higher resolution Digital Elevation Models (DEM), new hand-crafted points of interest and bespoke airports, and additional Discovery Flights, Bush Trips, and Landing Challenges. Microsoft Flight Simulator Releases Local Legend 13: The Saab B 17A

BORN OF SWEDISH INNOVATION
The B 17A, a Swedish single-engine, two-seat dive bomber, traces its lineage to the birth of Saab (Svenska Aeroplan AktieBolag), one of the world’s leading aerospace and defense firms. The Saab 17, of which the B 17A is a derivative, was the first aircraft produced by Saab, and as such, it was integral to the early growth of the company.

November 2nd 2023, Development Update
We started the week by launching a pre-release test build (1.35.13.0) of the upcoming Sim Update 14. If you'd like to read a list of the bug fixes and other improvements in this build, please see our forum post here.Thank you to all the volunteer community members who have enrolled in the beta and helped identify bugs and issues! If you would like to opt in to the pre-release test, you can find instructions here.
The beta is open to all players on PC/MS Store, PC/Steam, and Xbox Series X|S.The biggest issue we have noted from SU_14 testers so far is a regression that was causing Assistance settings to reset to default whenever launching the sim. The dev team has identified the cause of this bug and will resolve it in a future SU_14 beta build.
On Tuesday, we launched the latest aircraft from our Famous Flyers series: Mitsubishi Heavy Industries MU-2. Created by developer iniBuilds, this beautiful twin engine turboprop from Japan is sure to provide sim pilots with a thrilling flying experience. The MU-2 is available now from the in-sim Marketplace for USD $14.99.
Coming up next week are two more new releases! World Update 15: Northern Europe & Greenland and Local Legend 13: Saab B 17. Both are scheduled to launch on Tuesday, November 7. Also launching on Tuesday alongside the new World Update will be improved versions of both World Update 11: Canada and World Update 12: New Zealand.
