This week, we've hit an important milestone - 1,000,000 game downloads. For a tiny indie studio like us, this is a huge deal, and we had to commemorate this milestone and thank everyone who tried out our game.
To put things in perspective, we ended 2022 (MicroWorks' release year), with 10,000 downloads. This on its own was a huge milestone that we didn't think we'll outdo, but in a year's time we've climbed up to 100,000, and in just another year and a half, 1,000,000. This is truly an overwhelming amount for us, and we couldn't be happier to have made a game that got through to so many people.

End of Year Party 2024 & 80% Off Party Pass

Yep - it's back once more! It looks like we've made a habit out of celebrating Christmas and the end of the year together, and we're excited to finally get to do it again. On Saturday the 21st, we'll gather at the Agiriko Discord server to play some MicroWorks with the community and the developers!
During the event, we'll be playing with custom microgames and boss stages from the community, including some new ones we haven't tried before. After a few games, we'll switch to the gungame gamemode to spice things up. You can either auto-download the mods when joining the server, or pre-download them to save time:

Summer's greetings from Agiriko once more! Wow, the seasons REALLY have been going by, haven't they? We've been so busy brewing secret potions that we haven't noticed. ːsquirtyayː

MicroWorks Patch Notes 1.11.2
Patch 1.11.2 is live now. This small update addresses new modding features and fixes.
This allows creating a microgame variation with an additional function that runs before the microgame begins, during the intermission. Useful for when you need to sync data ahead of time.
Global: ResourceType.MemoryAudio for LoadResource
Same as ResourceType.Audio, but the audio is loaded into memory and can be reused across multiple sources at the same time, unlike streamed audio.
Fixed "MinPlayers" parameter not working when creating a microgame.
Fixed oversight that caused microgame rarities to be capped at 10.
Fixed issue that prevented custom boss stages from working in Boss Rush.
Fixed issue that prevented custom boss stages from working if "Unlocalized Games" was ticked off in languages that are not English.
ZLAN 2024 - Exclusive Skins
If you're a part of our French community, you may have heard about ZLAN - one of the biggest French events of the year. It is a multigaming tournament where 198 players come together to compete on a dozen different games to win a 50,000€ cashprize.
This year, MicroWorks will be featured as part of the tournament! In celebration, we're giving away a special, limited time skin and aura. All you have to do is launch the game throughout May 6 - 17, and you get to keep these skins forever! The skins will only be available throughout this period - if you miss out, you can't grab them again.
In addition, the Party Pass will be 50% off starting at May 9, all the way to the 17th. We anticipate a lot of players, so it's a pretty good time to get it!
Patch 1.11.1 is live now. This small update addresses a few small issues and includes minor fixes.
Most notably, we've made a change to how Host Takeover works, so that force quitting the game through methods like Alt + F4 will still trigger it, instead of disbanding the server.
For modders, we've added a couple of new API functions:
It's spring cleaning time! With an incoming flood of discounts, it's for us too to clean off all these Party Pass copies off the shelves.

MicroWorks Patch 1.11: [MODDING UPDATE]
Well, well, well! If it isn't that time again.
Today's update is like none other. While it does contain many fixes, they're all too minor to compile and bore you with a changelog. Instead, let's focus on the main dish.
For the past 2 months, we have been very hard at work to expand on the modding capabilities of MicroWorks, and extending it beyond just microgames - allowing for custom boss stages, scenes, and even allowing you to script your own game types.
We are proud to announce MicroKit - the official MicroWorks modding toolkit!
MicroKit
MicroKit is our new and official modding toolkit for MicroWorks. At the forefront, it enables the creation of custom levels. In addition, it provides a set of helpful modding tools, like a localization editor, game descriptor editor, workshop manager, and more.
You can find MicroKit in the Tools section of your Steam library.

Modding Guides
This is, of course, complimented with new extensive modding guides. They will teach you how to script for MicroWorks, and how to create custom microgames, custom boss stages, custom scenes, and more!

We have made great changes over at our Discord server, with a new forum dedicated to promoting and filtering through mods, and channels where modders can ask for help! We are there too, so if you're finding yourself in need of assistance, drop on in!
The End....... for now
If you've been around the Discord server, you may have heard that this will be the final major update for MicroWorks.
We've had the honor and privilege of supporting MicroWorks for over a year now, not to mention that Jan 1st marked 4 years since MicroWorks entered development. Now is the time for our next journey, to hopefully unveil our next big thing one day. And with everything we've learned along this path, we can't wait to find out what that is.
And hey, what better note to end it on than the update that opens up the door for an infinite amount of microgame and boss stage possibilities?
