Today we are happy to present you the second official patch of Might & Magic X – Legacy Early Access. As well as delivering many game improvements, we are very excited to announce that this second patch for MMX Early Access comes bundled with the MMX Modding Kit, allowing you to create your very own adventures!
Before we talk about all the exciting things we have in store, we wanted to thank you all for the numerous messages posted on the Open dev blog and forums. MMX would certainly not look so gorgeous today without you.
Let's talk about the Modding Kit release first! We really wanted to get this powerful kit into your hands as soon as possible, so that you can dive straight into creating and playing mods before the game is actually fully released. In addition to this, we are currently developing a new feature for the website, the Maps & Mods tab, which will enable you to share your mods with other fans and track down the best mods out there. This feature is not ready yet, but our web developer (Open Dev Blog’s father Supacoco) is working hard to release it before the end of the year, and when finished it will be accessible to everyone from the Open Dev blog.
The Modding Kit is an extremely flexible, feature-rich tool, and we wanted to show you some examples of the amazing mods that it can produce. That is why a few weeks ago we contacted two modders from the MMX community--one from RPG Codex and the other a MMX Ultimate Adventurer from the Open Dev Blog! They are currently creating their own mods that will be available when the Maps & Mods feature goes live. If you too are interested in modding, then you should totally check out following guide.
With the Modding Kit installed you can immediately start creating your own adventures or just have fun discovering all its features. However you use the kit, what you learn will be very valuable in the near future when a special modding contest is announced… Watch this space!
Now let’s check out what this second patch brings to MMX:
New features
New interactive objects have been added: Liquid Barrels and Buff Statues.
New game options. Barks can now be deactivated, and the same goes for game messages and floating damage numbers. You can now also change the opacity for tooltips and the quest/action log.
Korean language version is now available.
And last but not least, you can make your own notes on the Minimap. Check out our article about the Minimap notes feature!
IMPORTANT NOTICES
Using old saves from previous versions of the game will cause issues. For example, items at the vendors will be displayed in the wrong order and items that you had in the inventory before installing the patch will be lost. Therefore, we recommend that you start a new game after updating the game.
For Uplay customers, it is crucial that all 3 parts of the 2nd patch are installed before loading the game.
Once again, we would like to thank everyone who helped bring this game forward with their comments, feedback and bug reports. Your contributions are very much appreciated, keep up the good work!
Cheers!
Your MMX team

First Official Patch available now!
Discover new content in the first official update for Might & Magic X – Legacy Early Access!
We have the pleasure to announce you the release of the first official patch for Might & Magic X – Legacy. Thanks to your feedback and active participation in the Early Access program we’ve been consistently improving the game with new features and bug fixes.
It’s been more than a month since the Early Access version of Might & Magic X – Legacy was released. In this time we’ve read a huge number of comments from you guys on your desires and expectations, and we hope you'll like what has been achieved.
Here are the 5 things to know about this update:
4 brand new classes are now playable: Scout, Druid, Mercenary and Shaman.
As decided in the “What to patch next” poll, the “item comparator” feature has been added to the game. You will now be able to compare a selected item with the currently equipped one from your inventory or merchants’ shops.
Many of you asked for it, thus the day and night cycle has been extended.
2 additional languages have been added: Chinese and Japanese.
More than 100 bugs have been fixed based on your feedback.
This patch will automatically download when running Steam Client (whether you activated the Beta mode or not). For all other users, you just need to launch the game in order to download & patch.
IMPORTANT NOTICE
Please note that, due to the number of changes we have implemented, there might be issues when loading previous save files. Therefore we strongly recommend that you create a copy of your save files in a separate folder.
Thank you all and have fun! :)
We are looking forward to your feedback!
Your M&M X Team
For more information, please check out our official Open Dev blog post, giving the release notes of the First Official Patch!
Unofficial Patch available now!
Yes it’s true; the first (unofficial) patch is now available!
We hope you guys will enjoy it!
As already described on Monday, it was important to us to provide you this patch as quickly as possible, therefore it did not go through all the different “green light channels”, a patch normally needs to go through, in order to be an “official patch”. This is why the patch is labelled as an “unofficial patch”.
Unofficial patches are only available through the beta for Steam users or through the download link on our blog for all other users (please note that the .exe from the download link will not work for steam users!).
Our patch log (please click on the download link on the blog to see) looks like quite a lot of smaller bug fixes, doesn’t it. However please be aware, that fixing something here may break something there. So all in all, the team worked quite a bit last week, but please note that follow-up bugs may occur.
Please note that we worked on fixes regarding save/load issues, which is why we cannot guarantee that your save games work after the patch. If you want to keep your save games, you may want to create a copy of your save file in a different, separate folder.
As usual, we are looking forward to your guys’ feedback!
Your MMX team
The next patch
Hi all,
Thanks again for all your great feedback that were summed up in our blog posting last week. We noticed several new feedbacks thereafter, not only during our second dev chat, but also on the Early Access forums, the blog or other communities and we’re busy working through those right now.
As you might have already read, we have planned a first patch since we read your first feedback last week. Today, I’d like to share with you more details in regards to its content and timing. So please find in today's blog post info about:
<*> When the patch is planned
<*> Where and how you will be able to get the patch
<*> What the patch will contain
Looking forward to read your feedback on the blog and/or the forums!
Dev chat today: Let’s discuss your Early Access feedback
Hi all,
Thanks again for all your feedback to the Early Access of MMX! Please find a first reply within this blog posting. We are aware that there is a lot more feedback and we’d like to discuss all of your concerns and ideas in our next IRC Dev Chat, starting
THIS WEDNESDAY (28.08.) at 6 pm (GMT+2)
join our server at chat.limbic-entertainment.de
(The server will be accessible half an hour before the chat starts. You will not be able to connect earlier!)
In order to make the chat less confusing, we will have two channels today (#mmxdev and #mmxfeedback). The first one will be open for discussion and for asking questions, the other one will be used by the devs for answering questions and is read-only for everyone else. By connecting to our server, you will automatically join both channels.
You will meet the following members of the MMX team in our chat:
Thomas Steuber (Technical Lead, Limbic Entertainment)
Johannes Pfeifer (Level Designer, Limbic Entertainment)
As we are developing a tribute to the classic Might & Magic RPGs, we are using the classic chat protocol, too: IRC!
What is IRC?
Here is a very brief description of IRC:
IRC (Internet Relay Chat = multi user communication system) is a very classic form of a chat in which users can join different channels to chat about different topics. Nowadays, IRC is still common for multiuser chats (although not as “hip” as some other hangout place, but you know our motto “Oldschool is cool!”).
A normal internet browser won’t do the job if you want to join an IRC chat. Instead you will need a client software (i.e. mIRC), which you can download as Free-/Shareware.
