Bugfixes and Loot




• Stopped showing the mouse cursor during cutscenes and on tutorial screens.
• Fixed a text scaling bug where tutorial text wouldn’t wrap properly on resolutions different than 1920x1080.
• Fixed a scaling bug where boss health HUDs showed up wrong on resolutions other than 1080p.
• Fixed a problem in the tutorial where tutorial text and the store text would show up at the same time.
• Fixed a GUI bug that sometimes prevented the "ESC / B" image overlay from showing up on tutorial screens.
• Updated tutorial text for weapon/item pickups. (their buttons got changed after I added parrying)
• Fixed a bug where the game tried to play enemy pain sounds, even for enemies who had no pain sounds.
• Lowered the default brightness setting by 30%.
• Updated the store text for intelligence. And added bonus treasure chests that are openable with your higher intelligence.

Cutscene Update

• Fixed a display problem with money appearing on two lines if you had over a million gold.
• Added the last cutscene, for the final boss.

Polished Last Level



WHAT'S NEW


- Added pain sounds for the last two levels.
- Fixed the swords and halberds in the last level that float away from the knights hands. :O
- Fixed the blood on the final level, a lot of it was just floating in the air instead of falling to the ground.
- Fixed the Halberd Knight's death animation, there was a noticable delay, almost like he was a bad actor faking his own death.
- Made the last level 20% brighter.
- Polished the final level demons, giving them pain animations, pain sounds, and changing their AI to be more dangerous.
- Fixed a bug in the last level preventing the music from changing after defeating a semiboss.

New Boss

Parry, finish, then transform.




Boss Nut Cracker move.




Boss Demon Hug.




- New underworld boss, instead of the giant golem battle, now it's a two stage fight against a humanoid. I made him to force you to parry, and threw in some fun attacks counter-attacks. Like if you just stand too close waiting to parry he has a kick stun move, and if it lands he'll follow up with a high damage finisher. Part two of the boss also punishes standing around, but instead of kicking it does a claw hug.
- Gave pain sounds to everyone on the third level (The Road).
- On the final level: got rid of a few invisible walls, and added lighting to make the teleporter shortcuts more visible.
- Changed Minotaur's death. Now the screen will fade to black, and a death sound will play.

Dragon Boss



- New optional boss in the Sky level, and an achievement: Dragon Slayer
- Added some stairs to the Sky Level, to give you a way back up other than dying.
- Added a few invisible walls to the sky level.
- Moved a few floating props to the ground in the Sky Level. And added a ton of clouds, since it is the Sky Level.
- Added hit sounds to all the characters in the Sky Level.
- Removed the spawn checkpoints in the Sky Level, because the level's pretty small. You can run from start to finish in 40 seconds.

- Fixed a Main Menu bug, that was allowing you to select levels to play that no longer exist. Now the only option is "Play".
- Fixed a bug with Camera Locking, where if you died while locked onto an enemy the camera would stay in it's zoomed out position.
- Fixed a bug where waves of enemies would respawn before Minotaur finished dying. Now there's a nine second delay.
- Fixed a problem with the first wave of little enemies in the Sky Level. Where sometimes they would spawn inside the floor.
- Fixed a problem with the Bird Man in the Sky Level, where locking the camera onto him at close range could cause very fast camera movement. (his ground collider was too small, allowing him to walk over/through Minotaur)
- Removed the little white cube from the front of ranged dragon bug enemies.

New Bosses



New Bosses + Achievements


- Added a new bonus boss to level 3 (the road). Find her near the start of the path, behind a gate that you unlock with 5 INT.
- Added a new bonus boss to level 4 (the temple). Right at the start, walk left, turn left, then unlock the gate with 10 INT or 10 STR.
- Increased stamina recharge rate.
- Increased the size of the lost money chest collider, to 7x7x100 meters. So now if you die falling off a cliff, you can still recover your money.
- Decreased Parry time from 1 second to 0.5 seconds.


PARRYING + NEW LEVEL


PARRYING

Gave Minotaur the ability to parry (counter-attack). If you press the parry button (LB on controller, Left CTRL on keyboard) he will play his parry animation, and any enemies that hit him in the next second will be stunned for five seconds and take three times as much damage as normal.



Also added a pair of new achievements: "Parry Time!" for parrying one attack, and "Parry King" for parrying 100 attacks.


NEW LEVEL

Made a new bonus level. To get there start from the level after the tutorial, upgrade your intelligence. Defeat the ogre, walk down the pathway, turn left, walk along the beach, then chat with the guy standing on a dock. Tell him to take you "anywhere but here" and he'll take you to the new level.

OTHER

Cutscenes are skippable now, with ESC on PC, or B on controller.

New music volume adjustment setting.


Added a stamina cost to running.

Cutscene text now scales with your screen resolution, so it will fit on screens smaller or larger than 1920x1080.

Translated all cutscenes into Russian, German, and Chinese (Simplified Chinese, because 1.4 billion people speak that, versus 30 million for traditional Chinese).

Fixed a bug causing enemy AI to cancel it's own attack animation. So now they won't just walk up to you and stand there like an idiot waiting to be hit.

Fixed level 2 boss. Her ultimate was missing on the first and third hit, making her too easy.

Upgrade System



WHAT'S NEW?

Gold and Upgrades

- Added gold to the game, earnable from treasure chests and defeated enemies.
- If you die though you drop your gold, and have to retrieve it before dying again or you'll lose it forever.
- Gold can be spent at the stores, there's one in the tutorial level, and another in the next level right at the start to your right.
- You can upgrade your health, stamina, strength, roll distance, and intelligence.






Fast Travel

- I moved the level selection from the main menu, and put it in the levels near the start of each one.
- Just walk up to the God statue, and press Enter (keyboard) or A (gamepad), then choose the level you want.






Other

- Lowered Minotaur's starting health.
- Took out the difficulty selection, and now it just defaults to Normal.
- Made a few loading optimizations, to load some of the level right away, then load the rest as you play.
- Fixed Minotaur's throwing animation, there was a bug causing it not to run 90% of the time, and spears would just shoot out of his chest.

King Minos



WHAT'S NEW?

- Cutscenes with king Minos.
- A new boss battle right after that. Since he's a later boss I gave him harder moves. He can dodge your powerful attack, then do a counter-attack. He has a knockdown move, then a finisher. And his attack options change depending on how much health he has left. Hope it's not too many mind games for you! Let me know if he's too hard.
- Tutorial change, gave enemies their regular HP to make them more satisfying to kill.
- Updated Theseus (and everyone else who uses the same animation controller) to show reactions to damage, even if they're in the middle of an attack.
- Fixed Theseus's weird jittery feet animation. The animation was run every time he was attacking and walking to walk to follow Minotaur, but the transition when it ended was only 50 milliseconds, so it looked too wrong. I raised it to 200 milliseconds and now it looks right.
- Level 2, made the Ogre fight area bigger, so you're not always running the camera into walls.
- Also cleaned up the level bosses AI, so she doesn't just stand there twitching like an idiot, now she's ALWAYS trying to kill you! Also fixed her feet collider, so she won't get stuck in the terrain anymore.
- No one is too small for a fixed animation! Even the rats in the temple got fixed.
- Also Added a few more temple rats to make restoring health easier.
- Fixed some object tags in the temple, tagging them as "Ground" so blood will fall to it and the camera won't go through it anymore.
- Made the main boss room bigger.
- Added a few lights and rats to make finding your way around easier.
- The temple also gets a permanent shortcut, that opens once you reach the halfway point.

Theseus



WHAT'S NEW?

- Theseus, as a level 1 boss.
- He has a few different attack patterns throughout the fight, depending on his health level.
- And he hits hard, but not too hard since it's level 1.


WHAT ELSE IS NEW?

- Intro cutscene at the start of the game.
- Quieter music in the first level.
- Expanded level 1, to be larger and have more people to fight.
- Fixed a blocking bug that would take more damage than you should have.
