Now that you’ve had the chance to play MONKEY BARRELS, it’s time to introduce you to some fun tips that we found helpful:
Know Your Enemy—Learn to recognize different enemies and pay attention to how they behave. For example, some do not fire projectiles, some do not pursue you directly, some are faster than others, some are stunned when they’re shot, and so on.
Once you learn their patterns and tendencies, you’ll know which ones pose a greater (or more immediate) threat. Focus your firepower on the enemies you can’t avoid and the ones that can hurt you the most! After the bigger threats are eliminated, it’ll be easier to take out the rest.
Jumping is the Key—Hanako and Masaru are fast and elusive, but sometimes the “bullet hell” patterns are too much for any monkey to handle. That’s where the Jump button comes into play: You can leap out of the way without taking any damage. It’s extremely important to learn how to attack while simultaneously dodging bullets with repeated jumps. In fact, the game’s developer, Good-Feel, says it’s the key to conquering MONKEY BARRELS!
Jump Ahead—If you press the Jump button while you’re moving, you’ll jump in the direction you’re moving… but if you press it while standing still, you’ll jump in the direction you’re facing instead. This can be useful when you need the jump to land on a specific spot, or if you’re just being careful.
Use Wild Power—It’s tempting to save up your Wild Power for boss battles or areas with lots of enemies, but remember: Once your WP Gauge is full, you can’t earn any more until you use it up. You’ll pass up a lot of opportunities to get more Wild Power if you’re walking around for too long with a full WP Gauge, just sayin’!
Secret Bonus—Having trouble with a certain stage? If you fail repeatedly, you may be offered the opportunity to continue with a +3 Life Gauge Bonus to make things a bit easier. Don’t be reluctant to take advantage of this offer—it’s not cheating, we won’t tell anybody!

By now you should be aware that MONKEY BARRELS is an awesome twin-stick shooter that’s incredibly fun to play. But did you know that it has some stages where the monkeys get to ride on awesome vehicles? Check it out:
In some stages, Masaru or Hanako gets behind the handlebars of a slick motorcycle to chase after Kotetsu at high speed. But just because you’re on a bike doesn’t mean the shooting stops—in fact, these stages play more like a scrolling shooter. You’ll need to blast plenty of enemies and obstacles that Crabbenwold places in your path!
In other stages, the chimps get to commandeer a powerful tank. That’s right, it’s a real armored military powerhouse (albeit banana-colored). You’ll love driving around, blasting the cannon and rolling the treads over anything and everything in your path!
But that’s not all! You can also fight big bosses while riding the motorcycle or tank. There’s even a couple of intense boss battles that take place while you’re standing on the top of a speeding train!

In addition to the ridiculously fun Story Mode, MONKEY BARRELS also features BANANA SCRAMBLE, a wild online PVP mode that can be enjoyed by four to six players.
Please note: Banana Scramble will not be available until after you defeat the Chapter 1 boss in Story Mode. Once unlocked, the player will be able to enter Banana Scramble at any time from the Camp site.
Before you enter the fray, you get to select your name, your character and your weapon loadout. You’ve got to be ready for anything, so choose carefully!
The rules of Banana Scramble are quite simple: The monkey with the most bananas at the end of the match is the winner. You drop bananas when you get hit, so watch your back! Playing more Banana Scramble matches (and picking up more bananas) will increase your Monkey Rank, which helps the game to match you with players at your current skill and experience level.
If you see a giant yellow box, try to blast it open to get tons of bananas... but your opponents can get them, too. Try different strategies to get that Number 1 spot!
PROTIP: There are certain weapons that can only be unlocked by playing Banana Scramble mode online. Don’t miss them!

Your WP gauge fills up each time you take damage, defeat an enemy or drink WP Juice. When the gauge is filled, simply press the Wild button to activate WILD POWER mode!
WILD POWER mode causes an explosion that wipes out nearby enemies and projectiles. After that, you’ll have increased attack power and unlimited ammo for your main weapons—with no reloading required!—until the WP gauge runs out.
It’s best to unleash your WILD POWER when you really need help. It can get out of a dire situation, like when you’re surrounded, or when you’re facing a tough boss. But don’t wait too long, because once the WP gauge is filled, you can’t earn any more WP until it’s used up!
