Demo Update #2

Hello Everyone,

we hope you're all enjoying summer! BTW: Please play Bloodstained! ^_^

Today we'd like to inform you about a new update of the demo, addressing the crash bugs that some users encountered. It was caused by non-Ascii character Windows User names and should now be fixed. Please update the demo and try if it works now.

As always your feedback is very welcome!

..just a few more weeks until the PC release of Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom ..(finally!)

Demo Update #1

Hi Everyone,
there's a new demo build available for everyone. Please check it out in case you encountered problems with the initial demo release.

Here's a quick info about changes/updates:

- The sound effects should now play normally when using a multichannel setup
- Ultrawide has a dynamic HUD setting to align the HUD with the screen edges.
- DualCore Support
- Crashlogs will be written locally so you can send them to us.
- Dialogue Text Size can be increased in the options.
- Improved high framerate play
- Fixed a bug on Ultrawide screens that caused Shop Items to disappear.
- Framerate Limiter function improved
- Automatically uses Nvidia hardware on Laptops with intel & Nvidia option.

Thanks for your help and support!

Developer Update #5

Hello Everyone,

many thanks for checking out the demo and for posting your feedback! It helped us a lot to find any remaining issues with the game on various PC configurations.

We're now working on an Update for the Demo which takes care of many things that have been reported. It will also include a fix for the dreaded sound effects issue. We're also going to unlock DualCore support.

Next Update coming soon! ^_^

Demo Available

Hi Everyone,

we're one step closer to the release of the game! The demo is now available!

Please download and test it on your machines. If you run into any trouble please post a message in the comments or discussion board section - we're going to check them out.

In the demo you'll be playing the human form of Jin. Experience the very beginning of the game and learn your first spell. You can explore land and underwater with many hidden coins and even an extra heart.

The full version will import the demo savegame so you can continue your adventure when it's out. Please enjoy! ^_^

Demo Submitted, Full Version almost ready

Hello Everyone,
we just submitted the Demo Build to Steam for review. It will take a couple of business days until we can release it. It's almost here now!

We'll launch the demo immediately after completing the review process, so please check this product page regularly now. ;)

The demo will contain the first chapter of the game including the first boss fight. Take it as a little warm-up for the grand adventure that'll take over 20 hours(!) to complete.

Please let us know in case you run into any issues with your machine. We'll be very active on the Monster Boy discussion board when the demo is live. The full version is almost ready, too - but first we want to be sure the demo runs great for the majority of players. Once all is fine we launch the game.

Thank you for your patience and please look forward to Monster Boy! ^_^

Developer Update #4

Hello Everyone,
we planned to release the Monster Boy Demo in April but we missed it, sorry!
It’s coming soon but we think it’s also worth the wait. We unlocked the Framerate and we’re close to have it working nicely. The whole team is hard at work to deliver the best possible experience.

Here's a preview of the video settings menu:

Some explanations about this menu:

- You can freely choose the resolution, also ultrawide+
- Framerate is unlocked unless you activate Framerate Limiter or/and VSYNC
- Screen Shakes: Avoids any camera shaking for players who're sensitive to that
- Texture Quality: You can drop the texture quality to run the game stable with ~1GB VRAM (e.g. on intel GPU Laptops). You'll be able to test it with the upcoming demo.
- Reduce Flashing light: Full screen white flashes are eliminated to reduce the risk of epilepsy for players who're sensitive.
- Ultrawide Border Design: We designed very neat dynamic borders that'll fill any ultrawide screen if the level isn't wide enough (e.g. narrow passages or boss rooms). You can choose between 2 interactive designs or simple black borders (3 options total).

As a response to your feedback in Developer Update #3: We’ll include Xbox One, PS4 and NSW Pro Controller symbols in the game. We're testing the game with Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Switch Pro and Steam Controller. When the demo is out, please test with your own controller and let us know if it works properly for you.

Thank you for your patience! ^_^

Developer Update #3

Hello Everyone,
we implemented all PC related features and the game has now entered our QA where we test it thoroughly on multiple setups. Once we finished the majority of tests, we'll release the free demo. We expect to release the demo this month. If the demo runs well on the majority of machines, we'll release the full version, otherwise we'll fix what needs to be fixed first. We want to make sure that PC players have a great 'Day1' experience with the full version of Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom.

Some information about the PC features:

Version: The PC Version is based on the latest console version which received 3 patches since the release. The game is really complex and we could iron out many things that will improve the whole 20-25 hours gameplay experience.

Controls: Monster Boy will support various control methods and you can configure it to your liking. Use a controller, keyboard or/and mouse and freely map it. Here's a question to you: If you pick a controller to play the game, which one would it be?

Ultrawide Monitors: Several levels and scenes in the game are wider than 16:9 so we unlocked them to display fullscreen on ultrawide monitors. Other scenes like boss fights remain 16:9. We needed to add a feature to blend these nicely. You'll be able to test this ultrawide feature in the demo and your feedback is welcome. We want to make y'all happy and enjoy the game to the fullest on your PC's.

Alright ...so the next Developer Update will be the Demo release then! ^_^

Developer Update #2

Hello Everyone,
while we work on the PC version and the Steam release, we wanted to give you another update today: We'll launch a free demo of the game first!

We hope that many players will try it on their machine and give feedback so we understand how well it runs on various configurations. We want to make sure that the game runs fine for a big audience before wrapping up the full release. There's only a certain amount of configurations we can test ourselves and we hope to get even more results after the demo release.

In return for your cooperation and support while testing the demo, we're going to set a lower purchase price for the PC release compared to consoles. Please look forward to the release of the demo and stay tuned for more Developer Updates in the future. <3

Developer Update #1

Hello Everyone,
thank you very much for your interest in Monster Boy and for adding it to your wishlist! <3 We're currently finishing our 1.0.4 patches on consoles and the PC version will be based on that with all the fixes and updates + PC exclusive ultra widescreen support. We need a bit more time which is the reason that we changed from Q1 to 2019 but we're working on it and there's no artificial delay. Also please don't worry, the game won't disappear from Steam Store, we haven't signed any exclusivity.
