A little while ago I updated Monster RPG 2 to support tablets on Windows without a keyboard or mouse. Today I extended this support to Linux. To use the touchscreen mode, add -force-tablet to the launch options for the game under properties in the Steam client.
Windows tablet (touch-only) support
I have been working for the past few days on Windows tablet support for Monster RPG 2. This allows for playing the game with just a touchscreen (no keyboard/mouse/gamepad needed) on Windows. To enable this mode, you need to pass -force-tablet to the game as a command line parameter. To do this within the Steam client, right click the game in your library, select Properties then Launch Options, enter "-force-tablet" and save the options, then run the game as normal.
I've just updated Monster RPG 2 with support for macOS 10.15. This required me to bump the minimum required version to 10.11, but if you don't have 10.11 or higher don't worry.
You can edit the game properties, and under the beta tab, you can select the oldmac branch which has the same version as before today.
Thanks and enjoy.
Monster RPG 3 Now Available
Part 3 of the Monster RPG series is now available on Steam, and it's on sale for the Steam Summer Sale!
If you're a fan of turn based JRPGs, I think you'll like how Monster RPG 3 plays out! Give the store page a look and see if it interests you:
Just updated the game with a small fix for macOS High Sierra for all the Mac users. The game previously failed to load fonts on the latest macOS update. Enjoy.
Monster RPG 2 Fully Localised to 11 Languages
When Monster RPG 2 first launched on Steam, in-game text was already localised to 11 languages. However many languages lacked store pages and achievements.
With the latest update, this problem is fixed. All supported languages now have localised store pages and achievements thanks to the hard work of a lot of translators. A few issues with translations have also been fixed, and in the next few weeks there will be all-new Polish and Brazilian Portuguese translations coming!
The latest updates also fixed several major stability issues, so if you were having problems with the game crashing, try the latest version.
Thanks and enjoy!
Monster RPG 1 DLC
I had a request to add the original Monster RPG game, which was called "Monster" (labelled as Monster RPG 1 now to avoid confusion... although it may just create even more...) as a DLC and it is now live:
http://store.steampowered.com/app/420240
It's free for Monster RPG 2 owners. The game is a little rough around the edges and does not contain great graphics (all made by me, not an artist) and the gameplay is extremely grindy. You do not need to play it as Monster RPG 2's story is not connected in any way to the first part. It is added as a convenience to Steam users who may like to have the complete series in their Steam collection.
Enjoy.
Walkthrough Available
The Strategy Guide is back online now, you can find it here.
This Strategy Guide was created by the game's developer. It references and uses images from version 1.10, so the version on Steam will be slightly different, mainly in the way some things look.
Feel free to use the guide if you're stuck. As always, it's recommended to try things yourself and only use strategy guides when you can't get past something or if you want to find extra secrets at the end of the game.
You can make an account on the Wiki and change things or create new sections.
Enjoy!
Trading Cards Available
Trading cards are now available for Monster RPG 2!
There are 5 cards to collect (2 uncommon and 1 rare.) Collect 5 cards and you can trade them in for a badge. The badges are variations of the staff model rendered in 3D, with a special foil badge if you collect 5 foil cards.
The backgrounds you can collect showcase some of the rare and/or interesting enemies in the game: Treant, Dark Elf, Possessed, Big Blue and Dark Man.
And finally, of course, there are emoticons. They are shown below:
ːm2_staffː - m2_staff - A staff emoticon
ːm2_shroomː - m2_shroom - A mushroom
ːm2_kissofdeathː - m2_kissofdeath - A pagan symbol
ːm2_devilː - m2_devil - A devil
ːm2_2ː - m2_2 - A 2 from the Monster RPG 2 logo
ːm2_kissofdeathː and ːm2_devilː are uncommon and ːm2_2ː is rare.
Drop times are set so that you will definitely have collected all of your drops long before completing the game.
