[BETA] Public Multiplayer Beta Is Live!



A huge thanks to everyone who’s been testing in private beta! The response has been inspiring, and collectively you’ve amassed dozens of hours of test coverage. Best of all, I’ve had the privilege of interacting personally with so many of you. It’s been humbling to experience your enthusiasm, support, and creativity first hand.

Thanks to you, we’re ready to move our multiplayer build into public Beta! We hope this move broadens our funnel and increases the amount of feedback and coverage we’re getting. Note that this is still an EARLY BETA, and as such, many features are still disabled including map and mode selection, power ups, solar flares, tank bump, and tank smash. We’re still working on them.

To access it, go to the Steam Library and right click Moonshot. From the context menu, select Properties. Select the Betas tab and choose Networked Multiplayer from the drop down.

Lastly, if you’re enjoying yourselves, please take a moment to review us on Steam. Even a simple statement is appreciated, and every review counts!

[BETA] Private Match Invite Patch 0.3.3

A big thanks to everyone who's been testing! Your chat messages have added +10 to developer motivation:

  • "Yeah thats the most fun I've had in a game in awhile"
  • "man... straight up we love your game!"
  • "Best 8 dollars I've probably ever spent!"

We've fixed the bug that required all players to restart the game between every match. We also caught and fixed a bug where the level you last played locally gets used in online matches, causing everything to catch fire (thanks Brynx!).

We've also re-enabled respawn shields and synchronized Siege and Pulse shield charge levels. I also dialed back the strength of the Siege shield slightly by popular request.

Next big milestone - re-introduce level select screen so you can pick maps and add AI.

[BETA] Get your Multiplayer on!

Hello beautiful people! We just published our first ever online multiplayer beta build!! And we need your help to validate it!

It’s in a private beta branch right now since we’re looking for direct feedback on your experience. Add me as a friend on Steam and I’ll send you the password and instructions to download it.

If you’ve got a friend you’d like to play with who doesn’t own a copy, I’ll get you a key! It’s time to pulverize them with the skills you’ve been honing.

Note that this is an EARLY BETA, and as such, many features are disabled including map and mode selection, power ups, solar flares, tank bump, and tank smash. Latency may be an issue for some. We want to hear about it!

Known issues:
• For players other than the host, bullets fired on a planet will arc unexpectedly
• Respawn shield doesn’t defend against bullets
• Siege and Pulse shield energy remaining isn’t synced for remote players
• Asteroids can’t be destroyed
• Occasionally, points will be awarded multiple times for the same kill

It's Coming!

Hey guys, great news! We're playing some multiplayer matches now, and we want you to be. :) Next week, we'll post an early network multiplayer build as a private Beta. Some features will be disabled so we can focus on the core flow. If you're interested in testing, add me as a friend and I'll get you the password once it's live.

We've heard from a lot of you about how eager you are for this. We're really excited to get some early feedback!

Minor Update 2

Hello everyone!

Today we’re rolling out an important update to the AI behavior. Previously, when the AI determined it couldn’t reach a target from any point on its local planet, it would just idle.

Today we're improving that. Sam’s got an awesome update that makes AI tanks fly to a planet nearer to their target when they can’t get a shot. It’s not perfect by any means, but it makes a significant difference in match dynamics. We didn’t want to sit on it while we finished our next two week update, so we’re getting it out to you today.

Moonshot’s First Update is Live!



Hey guys! Thanks for playing and loving Moonshot! We’re delighted about the positive response we’ve had so far. I hope you’re as excited as we are.

You represent the new and the proud – the first adopters who will shape the product with us! We want to hear from you, the good, the bad, and the ugly!

This update addresses a handful of rough spots we’ve heard from you so far. It also introduces our third power up – the Point Defense Drone! Laugh as it annihilates your opponent’s best placed shots, then obliterate them with your own.

We’re also introducing some changes to aiming for controller players that allows you to more easily point and fire in the direction of your stick. We could use some feedback here as this is a nuanced system.

P.S. We've heard you loud and clear. We're pushing hard on networked multiplayer. It's a doozy.

Patch Notes:
• Made reticle travel more smoothly across the vertical
• Removed the restricted turret angle on the rover – you can now shoot 360 degrees!
• Accelerated Siege tank charge shots so they shoot further faster
• Increased turret rotation speed with all tank modes and weapon types
• New thruster jetpack effect for pilot helps communicate you can steer

• Point Defense Drone color messages when it’s ready to fire
