Fresh Blood DLC Sneak peek #4: New game mode
It's time for the final DLC sneak peek, just a few days before the release on 14.9! This time we'll take a look at the new game mode coming with the DLC: Career mode.
Like in normal mode, your objective in Career mode is to climb through five tournament ranks and finally win the championship match in order to immortalize your team as the new champions. But unlike normal mode, in Career mode each tournament rank consists of 5 normal matches and 3 qualifier matches. In order to progress to the next rank, you will need to win at least 2 qualifier matches. If you win all 3 qualifiers, you get a special bonus reward from your next match.
Also, unlike in normal mode, the only penalty from losing a match is not getting the bonuses from winning. You can't lose the game by losing matches.
Wait, you can't lose? What's up with that?
Well, the one exception to that is that you will need to pay wages to your gladiators for fighting and if you can't do that, you are forced to forfeit your run. So gold management is much more important in Career mode than normal mode. Will you use all your gold on expensive equipment for your star gladiator and rely on winning the next match or play it safe with a team of budget fighters?
In Career mode you also get to choose your opponents in normal matches. Each option comes with a different enemy team, different rewards and a different set of match rules. Match rules can include familiar Emperor demands & desires or new special effects like for example 100% crit chance for everyone or randomized spawn locations. You can choose your opponents blindly, but often it pays to gather some intel and choose carefully. At this point you can also do some pre-match sabotaging if you are into that sort of tactics...
The Career mode comes with 10+ additional unlockable difficulty levels that guarantee you won't run out of new challenges to face!
That's it for this week's sneak peek! With just a few days remaining, I hope you are as excited about the DLC as I am!
I will be handing out 5 free copies of the DLC to random lucky winners from the Redbeak Games mailing list. I will pick and inform the winners immediately after the release.
Fresh Blood DLC Sneak peek #3: New skills
It's time for another DLC Sneak peek! This week I will share with you some of the new skills coming in the DLC.
What a waste to let all that precious blood just lie on the ground! The DLC introduces several new skills that can utilize nearby blood for healing or boosting your attacks.
One of the new debuffs in the DLC will spell certain doom for most units. If you get hit with it, you better act fast..
This common spell is a mana hungry beast that lets a skilled mage take full potential of their mana pool. As a downside, it will also quickly leave that pool empty.
Why should all that movement speed used for only movement? All Prowlers start with this skill and can put it to good use with their naturally high agility.
If you need proper deep cleansing, look no further! These pink flames will incinerate all your worries away...
That's it for this week's sneak peek! Overall there are 46 new skills coming in the DLC so there are plenty more to try out in the game!

Fresh Blood DLC release date revealed
I am happy to announce that the release date for the upcoming Fresh Blood DLC has been decided:
14.9.2020
Be sure to wishlist, if you want to be notified immediately after release!
It's time for another DLC Sneak peek! This week I will share some details on one of the most often requested features that is coming in the DLC: Bows.
Bows will deal physical damage, but unlike normal physical damage, the damage from bows will scale based on Agility. This means that proficient archers will be very nimble and able to find just the right vital spots for their arrows. That nimbleness will come in handy as bows are not the right choice for melee encounters, dealing only 50% damage from up close.
Each bow comes with a random bow skill for the archer to start with. Additional bow skills can be acquired through rewards and the shop just like other skills. But unlike other skills, bow skills can only be used if you have a bow equipped (duh... Although, throwing arrows with bare hands could be kind of cool...)
That's it for this week's sneak peek! I'm looking forward to announcing the release date in near future.

Fresh Blood DLC Sneak peek #1: New races
Work on the Fresh Blood DLC is progressing smoothly so I decided I would show little glimpses of it already before the release. For this week, here's a sneak peek of some of the new races. In total there will be 5 new races in the DLC!
Angel
"An ancient divine race. Whether it's their unnaturally strong skin, their three vacant eyes or their callous nature, the presence of an Angel usually raises discomfort in other races."
Angels have the capability to become both fearsome warriors and mages, but what really separates them from other races is their exceptional durability. High Vitality, high Armor and natural resistance to debuffs all contribute to Angels being unaffected by many threats they face on the arena. The main downside for Angels could be described as a "lack of urgency" as they are quite sluggish by nature.
Slitherer
"A cunning race of tentacled humanoids. Slitherers are famous for their magical capabilities and infamous for deriving joy out of needlessly torturing their enemies."
Slitherers make excellent mages and they are often very agile thanks to their slender form. Slitherers enjoy afflicting debuffs on their enemies and they excel in it better than any other race. Slitherers need to be careful with their positioning though as any attack they can't dodge is sure to cause damage due to Slitherers' poor natural Armor.
Prowler
"A stealthy feline race known for often hunting prey many times larger than themselves. It is not wise to leave your back turned towards a Prowler, unless you wish to fall victim to their instincts."
Prowlers are natural assassins. Whether it's sneaking behind enemies or picking them off from afar with bows, Prowlers make full use of their exceptional swiftness. As a further testament to this, all Prowlers start with a skill that deals bonus damage based on their remaining Action Points. Similarly to the Slitherer, the main weakness of Prowlers comes in the form of low Armor.
Of the new races, Dwarf and Umibozu didn't make it to this week's sneak peek, but I can guarantee they won't be outshined by the other new races!
