Mount Wingsuit 2

Content Update, Unlockable Bonus Map of the Original Mount Wingsuit Mountain

Greetings Mount Wingsuit 2 players!

We are excited to announce the release of our latest game update, which includes a special bonus map that will surely take you back down memory lane. That's right, we've added in the original mountain from the first edition of the game back in 2016!

For those who've been part of the Mount Wingsuit community since the beginning, this is a special chance to revisit the mountain range that started it all. And for those who joined in later, this is a great opportunity to experience the first mountain with updated graphics and gameplay mechanics.

This bonus map is an unlockable stage that will be accessible once you have mastered the main mountain. It's not just a nostalgic throwback either, as there are new challenges, leaderboards, and rewards waiting for you on this mountain as well.

So gear up, strap on your wingsuits, and get ready for an all-new experience on the old mountain. We hope this game update will bring you even more excitement and joy as you soar through the skies and conquer the mountain once again.

Thank you all for supporting Mount Wingsuit 2, and we look forward to seeing you on the leaderboards!

Sincerely,

The Mount Wingsuit 2 Development Team

Quality of Life Update

It's time for an update with a couple of requested features, thanks to our wonderful community who have been suggesting ways to improve the game. This time we present two new features, as well as minor fixes:

Improved replay and spectate camera

You can now teleport around the map while in replay or spectate mode, to set up that perfect angle to capture your stunts and exploits. It is now also possible to snap turn in 60 degree increments, making it easier to follow crazy flight paths. There is also a new first person view in spectate mode.

New chute pull mechanic

There has been some frustration with chute deployments, as players accidentally press the grip button in flight. This has been a bigger issue on some controllers than others. There is now an option to activate chute pull only from behind your back, so that you need to reach behind you to grab the pilot chute, making accidental activations much less likely.

The Race Winner achievement should now be unlockable as expected, and we've also squashed a few other minor bugs. That's it for now, but more is coming.

Blue skies and happy flying 😄

First Content Update: Steam Workshop, New Lines, Leaderboards and Achievements

It is a little over a month since we released Mount Wingsuit 2, and it's been great fun seeing how our players do. There is a small but active community on our Discord, and you have far exceeded our expectations as to what is possible with high scores. We promised that we'd be releasing more content if there was enough interest, so here is our first content update:

Steam Workshop

One of our user complaints has been that the checkpoint lines are too easy, or at least far easier than they were in Mount Wingsuit. We figured a good fix for this would be to let you create your own, so we have made a Line Creator where you can save your own checkpoint lines and upload them to Steam Workshop with just a few clicks.

New Checkpoint Lines

We are also releasing a collection of 21 official lines, one for each exit point, which are significantly more difficult than what you find in the base game.
Visit the Mount Wingsuit 2 Workshop page here on Steam, subscribe to any line or collection and it will be available for you in the game.

Race Leaderboards

There are 21 new leaderboards for the online race mode, one for each exit point. You can set times racing by yourself, but it is both more fun and easier to set a good time in multiplayer due to the slipstream boost you get from flying right behind an opponent.

6 New Achievements

We have added achievements for winning the various online game modes, as well as one for contributing to the game by uploading a line to Workshop. Since you have been doing so well with the high scores, we also added an achievement for achieving a 10M combo.

In addition to this, we have fixed a small collection of bugs reported on Discord; Thank you for helping us improve the game!

We have also been discussing the possibility of organizing the first Mount Wingsuit World Championship, with competitions in all the online game modes and nice prizes for the top 3 finishers. Feel free to join the discussion and chip in your ideas about the ideal way to pull this off!

We Are Live!

We are proud to finally bring you Mount Wingsuit 2. Getting to this point has been a long and surprisingly challenging journey, but we've had tremendous amounts of fun along the way. The original Mount Wingsuit grew organically from our love of flying, coupled with the wonderment of experimenting with VR, which at the time was a brand new medium. The beginnings of Mount Wingsuit 2 were very different; we more or less knew what we were doing, and had a clear vision to create a game with everything that was missing from the original. This was a far more ambitious project, and it has paid off.

By far the most requested feature in Mount Wingsuit was online multiplayer, and implementing this has been the greatest challenge. Getting it to work on a technical level was one thing, but crafting an engaging gaming experience on this basis was just as important, and far from as obvious as you might think. The bulk of our time towards release has been spent on refining the multiplayer experience, and we finally nailed it with several unique game modes, including racing, trick score challenges and wingsuit combat.

The most important change has been the controls. The original was conceived before tracked controllers were a thing, and we made it to be played at a deep slouch with an xbox controller. We were surprised at the demand for Vive wand support, and added it as an afterthought. Mount Wingsuit 2 was built from the ground up to be played with tracked controllers, and provides a much more rewarding experience. We've spent *a lot* of time making sure you can feel the virtual air you're moving through, and that the control inputs are intuitive. Flying is still difficult, as it should be, but also fun and rewarding.

Finally, we've continued pushing the boundaries of what's graphically possible on current hardware. Rendering a map of this size at VR speeds is a non-trivial undertaking, but we have made incremental gains, and the mountain looks better than it ever did. Now is the time to welcome you all and see what you make of it. We hope you will have as much fun playing our game as we had making it, and look forward to go flying together.

Blue Skies!

The online battle mode and new trailer

We have completed our first release candidate of Mount Wingsuit 2, and decided to celebrate the event with a new trailer featuring the online battle mode.

This PvP game mode is the culmination of an idea that we had way back when Mount Wingsuit 1 was coming together: Wouldn't it be fun to have wingsuit battles? We envisioned it somewhat like the motorcycle fights in Full Throttle, trying to swat each other out of the sky with chains and crowbars and what have you. As it turns out, this level of precision flying is extremely difficult, and getting close enough to touch your friend is a serious challenge even if they cooperate. Thus, while bumping your opponents out of the sky is still an option, you also get access to air-to-air missiles, drone strikes, teleportation devices and various super powers to make it easier.

This new game mode is an absolute hoot, and has been the focus of all our testing lately. We're busy balancing the weapon drops and adding a good dollop of polish, and are all looking forward to playing this with you.

Aug 25 Release Confirmed

Work is progressing nicely with Mount Wingsuit 2, and all planned functionality has now been established in the beta. What's left to do is essentially a whole bunch of polish. Our current focus is the Multiplayer Battle Mode, which is turning out to be a whole bunch of fun. We're currently organizing tests and making footage, watch this space for more when it rolls around.

Thus, we're well set to release on August 25, barring unforeseen hickups. We're all excited for the opportunity to share our creation with you, our fans, so we can finally go flying together ːsteamhappyː
