Move or Die

Move or Die New Localization Update!

While the language of losing all your friends is universal, getting there might require some pesky reading. In that regard, we’ve decided to do some update work on our in-game localization texts and give them a bit of a makeover.

Most of the old localizations have received slight tweaks and fixes, while some in particular have been completely overhauled. We’d also like to welcome the addition of a completely new language into the mix - Korean!

So here’s the complete list of languages that have been improved within this update:

- Korean (New!!!)
- Simplified Chinese
- German
- Filipino
- French
- Russian
- Dutch
- Hungarian
- Italian
- Japanese
- Polish
- Portuguese
- Spanish
- Ukrainian
- Slovenian

Wonder if we got them right this time? So are we! If you spot any typos or just general language issues, do not hesitate to send us some feedback, using this form: https://forms.gle/pJa82yY36WVYN8bJA

Many thanks for your continuous support! We’ll be seeing you in the lobby!

Our new buddy Soapy just wants you to stay safe during quarantine

As I’m sure you’ve noticed by now, we, the people of Planet Earth, are going through some pretty tough times.

While everyone is trying their best to stay positive, we figured that if we can do anything to make this stint a little more bearable, we should at least try.

So, without further ado, meet our new quarantine-themed character - SOAPY!

Now, our friend SOAPY has some quick recommendations to keep you covered until this whole thing blows over, so make sure to listen up!

Hope you’ll be best suds and who knows....SOAPY might be joining your game in the near future.

PS: Always remember that soap is dope. 👌

New Milestone Reached - 10K Steam Reviews!

So, first of all, thanks for sticking around. Getting to 10k reviews is no easy feat and we obviously couldn’t have done it without your involvement. It’s a pretty huge milestone for a game that’s no spring chicken anymore.

We’d also like to say that all reviews, both positive and negative, had a very huge impact on how Move or Die has evolved throughout the years. They gave us a warm hug and a good laugh in times of uncertainty, but also a kick in the butt whenever we didn't have our heads screwed on straight.

Anyhow, here’s our way of saying thank you for helping us improve and get where we are today - 10 brand new, mint-condition Move or Die Steam keys for you guys to share with your friends and family.

Please don't sell them to that shady reseller though, nobody likes 'em. :winter2019saddog:

See you soon! ːsteamhappyː

Let our 4-Year Adventure Update Commence!

Hey there, gang,

It’s been 4 years since we all started moving or otherwise dying together. Can you believe it? Time sure flies when you’re losing all your friends. Luckily, we have just the thing to keep you entertained for a couple of years more - The 4 Year Adventure Update, complete with crippling student debt!

Here’s what we’re bringing to the post-grad party:

The Community Debt - a new Graduation themed event to replace the old and rusty Daily Challenge. Earn your daily income, then spend it towards the global community goal. Trust us, the benefits are very much worth it. Just like in real life.

2 New Characters - Greysan and Hans join the ranks of Move or Die graduates, as part of a new series of unlockable rewards, bringing the total number of Move or Die playable characters to 95.

Other Exclusive Timed Unlocks - there’s already several other additions such as emote packs, splatters, confetti and trails waiting to be unlocked.

Continuous Support - we plan on maintaining and reiterating upon this new community challenge mechanic, so expect new content to keep being added to the progress bar in the near future.

Now, just so you can’t say that we peaked in college, we’re going to keep doing our best to provide you with compelling new content each chance we get. Just because we’re getting older, doesn’t mean we’re slowing down.

P.S. We’re also on sale on Steam until March 1st, so go get that discount while you can!

Go chase your dreams, and that hat.
- Team Move or Die

New Things Coming Down The Road!

You didn't actually think we'd miss our 4 Year Anniversary right?

Well technically we did already miss it....by about a month. But trust us, you wouldn't wanna miss what's coming next.

So, see you on Friday! Bring your friends!

Ok byeeeee!

The Warming Signs Update is here, hopefully not too late!

It’s that most wonderful time again, but, this year, the tidings are kind of bleak. We just couldn't get ourselves in the holiday mood, while out there the polar bears are turning brown and bright Scandinavian kids are getting bullied by boomers.

So, like the many cold showers we’re about to take next summer, here’s what you can expect from the Warming Signs Update:

3 Bleak New Characters:

  • SHELLY, the Turtle

Seagulls, sharks and now this. After many distressing encounters, Shelly had finally had enough of deep-sea littering. “It was the plastic straw that broke the camel’s back.” said Shelly as he began swimming towards the colder, Scandinavian waters, which would eventually lead to his demise.

  • CLAYTON, the Mudman

Having started off as your run-of- the-mill enchanted snowman, Clayton didn’t live up to his name until later in life. The gift of sentience quickly became a tragic curse, for once the snow had melted away, all that was left was filth.

  • FRAM, the Brown Polar Bear

What at first glance appeared to be a tiny spot of poo, was soon revealed to be something even fouler. Try as he might, Fram the polar bear just couldn’t get the damned thing off his otherwise pristine fur. Little did he know that this was the beginning of a new phase in his life - browning up.

Other Small Changes

  • Twitch Integration Fixes - Some of our favorite broadcasters reported game freezes and crashes when you guys spammed too many PogChamps in chat. This should now be fixed.
  • Environmentally Themed Guilt-trips - Because without any winter, there can’t really be any winter updates anymore. No pressure!

Thanks for sticking around for yet another year of Move or Die. See you next decade!

Addressing Apple’s lack of support for 32-bit apps on its latest macOS 10.15

With the recent release of its latest macOS 10.15, Apple has officially renounced support for 32-bit applications. As you may or may not know, this is also the case for Move or Die, which will no longer be available to play on macOS Catalina devices. Unfortunately, trying to fix this situation is simply not feasible on our part, the reasons why being among the following:

  • The lack of support for 32-bit apps on Catalina would require us to rebuild the game's engine as 64-bit and also fix any issues that might crop up along the way.

  • We've also developed Move or Die on an old version of the Love2D engine, with a bunch of custom options. Because of these options, switching to a newer version of Love2D would require a lot of work which we have decided against in the past due to lack of time and resources.

  • Love2D also uses many other libraries. Going 64-bit is likely to break some of them and while upgrading those libraries to their newer versions would help with the 64-bit transition, this could also cause horrible compatibility issues.

  • Then, there's also the OpenGL issue. Apple hasn't completely killed off OpenGL support, but they have announced that they are phasing it out to support their Apple only Metal API. Unfortunatelly, Love2D heavily depends on OpenGL.

That being said, for any Apple user that will not be making the switch to macOS 10.15 Catalina, Move or Die will continue to work as intended.

Obviously, we know that this is not an excuse and that it is a big issue for people who do still decide to update, or for those who will be purchasing new Apple products in the years to come.

We will make sure that these compatibility issues are properly explained and highlighted on the Steam Store Page.

Thank you for supporting us ever since Move or Die came out in Early Access in 2015. Back then, we promised to always keep our game open, updated and available on all PC platforms and we have managed to do so without flaw.

It seems that this time, we have reached a point where things are just out of our reach.

See you in the lobby!

Hello there, boys and girls!

We figured it’s about time we brought the magic of our (very briefly) timed exclusive PS4 content to all of you out here in PC Land. And there is A LOT to take in, so make yourselves comfortable and get ready to consume some of the craziest Move or Die goodies we’ve ever dropped in a single update:

Four new game modes

  • Radiation: Avoid the green glow or otherwise die a radioactive death. Not great, not terrible
  • Paper Planes: Aim your remote-controlled paper plane at your foes and watch them go boom!

Three new game mutators

  • What The Golf: Move around by launching yourself in the direction pointed by the oscillating arrow. Shout out to Triband for this one
  • Astral Projection: You can project your astral form in the direction you are facing and then teleport to its location
  • Accelerate: You gradually pick up more and more speed as you move

Six new game characters

  • Malone: Slice of watermelon goodness (Rare)
  • Adam: Intense raver dude particular to a certain number of bpms (Uncommon)
  • Barkley: His sadness only makes him more adorable (Uncommon)
  • Mauly: Cute but not so cuddly (Uncommon)
  • Burd: Pretty bird (Common)
  • Trip: Amazing eye-browed amphibian. Not to be licked (Common)

New Game Announcer: Youtube Star ProZD pours honey in our ears as our newest announcer. Angelic is an understatement. We love him to bits!

And if that wasn’t enough, we’re also putting out the biggest discount in Move or Die history - 80% off, part of the Steam Summer Sale.

Thanks,
Wish we knew how to quit you.
