Murderous Muses

Murderous Muses Case Files board game available now!

Break out of the gallery and hit the streets to investigate Mordechai's murder as you've never investigated it before! Murderous Muses Case Files game is a tabletop spin-off of your favourite 2023 FMV whodunit, that lets you take over where Mirlhaven's police department gave up.

Get your detective on with unfettered access to the original suspect interview transcripts, crime scene report and witness statements. Scour these files and more for clues, then use the Mirlhaven Directory to follow up leads. Take a trip to the crime scene, the coroners, the docks, the spooky Undulating Hills and question new islanders along the way!

Perfect to play on your own or with friends, Murderous Muses Case Files immerses you further into the details of the case and plunges you firsthand into the uncanny lore of Mirlhaven. With over 100 residents, businesses and landmarks to choose from, you’ll need sharp investigative skills to stay on the trail of the killer. Of course, there’s nothing to stop you taking a tour of the whole island, if curiosity gets the better of you…

Unlike the videogame, there’s only one solution to Murderous Muses Case Files but you'll still need to rule out each suspect until only the killer remains!

Steam Deck Compatibility

We've created a special Linux port of Murderous Muses including webm (not mp4) videos so that everything plays as smoothly as possible. Cloud saves work between PC, Mac and Steam Deck.

The touchscreen has been disabled so we've included a pop-up keyboard for seed entry (the only place in the game it's needed) but other than that it's the same codebase as PC and shares all the same features.

We're not currently planning on adding any additional features for Steam Deck compatibilty until Valve take a look at it for their official list, but let us know in discussions or by emailing support if there's any must-have feature you'd like to see.

We hope you enjoy playing Murderous Muses on Steam Deck!

Feature Spotlight - The Eyes of Mordechai

In Murderous Muses, you catch the killer by seeing through the eyes of victim Mordechai Grey. But how exactly do you do that? Well, in this third feature spotlight, we're going to show you!

Presenting…. the Eyes of Mordechai!

The Eyes of Mordechai are like miniature crystal balls. Each one allows you to see into the past, restoring Mordechai's memories of his conversations with the six prime suspects - a.k.a. his Murderous Muses.

Every night, the painting frames are newly socketed with 6 eyes. Every time you play a painting on a keyword it consumes one eye, so you should choose carefully what to reveal. If you run out of eyes, you won’t be able to unlock all the police interviews, and they’re crucial for solving the murder!

The good news is, you can use restoration tables to move eyes between paintings - which will be a big help if you’ve accidentally squandered them all chasing down Otto and Pip’s jokes, or if you want to head down the rabbit hole with Lilith. The bad news is, you only get one eye for every two you recycle...

The Eyes of Mordechai will also come in handy if you want to avail yourself of the in-game Tips Hotline. Who knows where the operators get their info from, but the word on the street says they can help you rule out one of the innocent suspects…

You can also earn an achievement for solving the murder with 20 eyes leftover in your inventory. Think you could do it? Wishlist Murderous Muses here!
