We are finally ready to release our biggest update up to now! We've been working hard on these new changes, so please let us know your thoughts, ideas, suggestions, and feedback on how the game is shaping up!
We are collaborating with Big Indie Records, to bring you 4 new Indie Rock songs for free! Check them out and we are sure you'll have a blast playing these new songs!
We also are adding a new Note type, the Whiplash! Smash the note to the ground whenever you see a split end (or when you feel like it! You are always free to play more and to experiment new harmonies).
We also are redesigning the menu experience. so it should be much clearer, and easier to follow. We are still working on some menus that haven't had their face lift yet, so those will be updated over time.
Don't know what song to play? Just select SHUFFLE from the Main Menu, then your desired difficulty, and the game will play one random song. A fun way to play new songs and explore the ever growing catalog of music!

Update 1.1.1 Live
Hello!
A new update is now available for Musical Range! Enjoy the new song from the band Abarax - All These Walls, featured in the Portal 2 mod Aperture Tag! You can find it in the 'Artist Collab' collection.
With this new song, we've split the Collab songs in 2 collections. Artists Collab and Videogames Collab, to prevent having a collection contain too many songs.
We also optimized the Note Meteors Bend system, reducing the amount of time it requires while it exist. You should see a performance improvement specially in moments where there is one long note with many bends.

OST VOL 2 Now Available!
Update 1.1.0 now available!
We are very excited to bring to you OST VOL 2! With 6 new songs to play, each track provides a unique challenge, with movements and sounds unlike any other. Choose from a fast, epic metal song to a pop rock song, or a chilling rock anthem. Whatever track you choose, we are sure you will have tons of fun mastering and learning the notes.
With this update we are also releasing Song Modifiers. This are optional changes that you can apply to a song difficulty. The Song Modifiers change up how the game will play. Remove Dead Notes or bend notes. Disable failing a song to practice difficult parts. Or change the piano range or the aim assist. All of this modifiers allows you to scale up in difficulty at your own pace, or try out the expert difficulties in a more casual setting.
Full Change Log.
Added OST VOL 2.
--- 6 New tracks. From Easy to Expert difficulty.
Added Song Modifiers Song Modifiers apply a reduction in point generation.
--- No Fail Prevents Ottava from exploding and stoping the song if the player misses too many notes.
--- No Bends All Bend Notes in a song will be downgraded to regular notes*
--- No Dead Notes All Dead Notes in a song are not spawned.
--- Change Piano Range Overrides difficulty and forces a specific Note Range. For example, chosing Expert song mod, but playing a song in Easy, will let you play on Easy with the full expert range.
--- Aim Assist Override Aim Assist. For example, choosing Easy song mod, but playing in Expert, will make it easier to hit notes.
--- Force Note Height In higher difficulties, notes can change in height. You can override this setting using this modifier option.
Added NEW tag to collection packs.
Added bend note animations for Ottava. They mimic your bend movements now!
Fixed 'Force Recenter Pawn' not moving you to the actual center.
Fixed Start Tutorial Button not working.
*There can be cases where downgraded bend notes don't fully sound on tune.
Song Modifiers are only on the first iteration. We have plans for 3 more song modifiers. As well as to add a description to each of them to make it clearer. Another improbability area is the scoring. Currently, it will reduce your points as shown in the menu, but we think it should be a smarter system. For example, if you chose aim assist of Expert, but play in easy, it makes the game harder, so it shouldn't penalize you. As well as enabling the No Fail modifier will reduce your points even if you don't fail the song.

Update 1.0.2.2

Added Simplified Instrument.
--- This ensures the sound the player is making always sounds good, at the trade off of less input control.
--- When enabled, the instrument will mute if the player is not playing the music as indicated.
--- When enabled, the instrument changes pitches by steps instead of continuously, thus always sounds on tune.
--- If its the first time launching the game after this update, the game will ask you if you want to opt in.
--- You can opt in or opt out any time in the Game Settings menu.
--- We recommend this for casual players or players who've never played any instrument.
--- We are still working on this system. Let us know your experience so we can improve on it's functionality.
Updated Score Hit System
--- Tweaked the Score calculation. New scores are overall higher than previously
--- To get perfect hits, you have to Hit the target note (With no help) and with Perfect Timing. Previously, you had to hit the tiny center of the note.
--- Missing a note will lower you Combo by 1 always.
--- Missing a note reduces Core Stability by 10%. (This might be too harsh, let us know your experience).
--- Removed Difficulty bonus multipliers (New formula, and easier Perfects means scores are naturally higher)

Join our Discord server to learn more about what is coming in the next few weeks!
Update 1.0.1.2
Ottava has evolved. ?
Added Video Settings. Defaults to Ultra, lower them if you require a boost in FPS.
--- Shade Quality. Controls the material complexity cost.
--- Detail Level. Controls amount of props and particles on screen.
--- Post Processing effect. Controls complexity of Post Process effects.
Added Game Settings.
--- Note Bend Sensitivity. A slider from 0.5 to 1.5. Higher values require less physical distance to move notes far away. DEV NOTE. We might adjust the range of this setting in the future.
--- Use Advance Gameplay UI. Option to show by default the advanced gameplay UI when you start playing a song.
Updated Animation logic, Animations, and Materials for HexagonScreen.
Updated Animation logic and Animations of Ottava.
Reduced shader cost of some UI elements.
Gun laser now draws on top of player on LIV viewports.
Reduced gun laser sight material cost.
Some of the changes we are working on are improving Perfect Hits, so they are easier to understand and obtain. Adjust the note bend system, to allow for bends to move independently, for example, currently, 2 simultaneous bends must be bent the same way. And to add a simplified instrument option, which keeps the musical range instrument on tune and making sound only when supposed to, but it removes player's freedom.
We are also working on more music of course!
Thank you, and we hope you are having a blast with the game!
Added Custom Song Example - Frontier
Hello,
Just a quick update to include the Custom Song example of Frontier.
Enjoy!
Musical Range Is Now Available As Early Access!
After almost 2 years for re-imagining the original idea from 2017, we are very excited to finally be releasing Musical Range on Steam as Early Access.
It has been a challenge to get to where we are now. We’ve took the original 2017 idea of shooting at static notes to create music, and evolved that idea to offer the player freedom by enhancing what can be possible. By shooting and moving the note around, you can express yourself musically in many different ways. A style will develop over time ensuring no two players play the same way a song.
While we have a core tight idea, we still have many plans to enhance the gameplay. And now it is time for our new players to tell us about their experience, ideas, suggestions of where you’d like the direction of the game go to.
Because we are in early access, we are not afraid of updating current song tracks based on feedback. As well as iterating constantly on various elements, such as difficulty, play-ability, or other improvements that can help the new player experience, while still giving experience players tools and freedom to do complex moves.
We hope you have a blast playing musical range. We look forward to your feedback, comments and videos! Please let us know how your time with the game goes on the Steam forum or on our official Discord server.

Open Beta Live & Baron Carta!
The Musical Range demo is now re-activated!
Available for a limited time from February 22 to February 28 you can play Musical Range!
Now with music from Baron Carta! Huge thanks for licensing the song for the game!
Another big change is the removal of Combat Blocks and Laser Blocks, with a new focus on playing and creating music. We find this refocus really allows player to immerse themselves in the music and in the flow of the song.
We hope you enjoy playing as much as we do, and look forward to your feedback.
