MY TIME ALIVE 3.02 - Complete Game Rework

MY TIME ALIVE was always one of my favorite projects, and I knew eventually I wanted to come back to it and finish the things I was too inexperienced to complete before. Throughout these past few years of my game development journey, I've learned tons and tons of information that truly make me a better game developer. In this update, I've gone back and fixed the major issues surrounding this game to truly make it a better experience, and finally add the rest of the content I always wanted.

Updates:


Each change is in their respective category.

Gameplay



Story Mode

-New addition to the environment on level 1.

-Complete graphics overhaul with URP.

-Small gun rework to fix some issues with the raycast bullets (they do not collide on invisible objects anymore)

-Flashlight fixes.

-UI elements fix to help the player to understand the objectives more clearly.

Arcade Mode

-Complete rework of the level to avoid using the car/dumpster glitch.

-Also complete rework of the vending machine and spending mechanics.

-Steam achievements that help your accomplishment really feel like and accomplishment.

-New highscore added on the Main Menu.

AI



-AI now runs all of the time to add more challenge to the game. (speed: 3>6)

-AI does more damage to the player. (2.5>3)

-Armored zombies health increase. (150>450)

-Animations upgraded to match the timing a little better.

Quality of Life



-Main menu no longer says Error for graphics option.

-Camera on main menu has a much better pan shot.

-Sound on first launch is cut in half.

-9 new steam achievements (10 in total)

-Tons of bug fixes.

I may have missed a few things on here since so much has changed, but overall these are the general updates. Thank you very much for playing and hanging around for these past few years! I'm glad to complete MY TIME ALIVE and give a product I am truly proud of.


New about 3.0 Update

The new 3.0 update is ready to be released, but I also am in the works of redoing the store page, the trailer, etc. Instead of waiting for the store page to be complete, I am going to go ahead and upload the new version (3.0) of the game, but keep it as a quiet release for now. Please, feel free to send me all the feedback you find and anything that does not work, since this is a major update and a lot of features have been added/changed.

MY TIME ALIVE 3.0 - Rework in Progress

Hi everyone! It's been quite some time, and after further consideration, I've decided it's time for a rework. The game was lacking some very basic core features and foundation elements that honestly are quite important to a story based first person shooter. Here is a little dip into what I've been working on recently.

Graphics Overhaul:


After updating the project to Unity 2021.3.1, I went ahead and converted the rendering to use the Universal Render Pipeline (URP). This scriptable pipeline in unity really puts an emphasis on colors, and can help clean up the muddy textures that bogged the game down before. Here is an example of what I mean.

Level Changes:


I am expanding the game a little bit in the level design aspect of things. The game is getting some new story/gameplay elements (ex: find key, eliminate zombies, etc.) to combat the feeling of just play level and find the exit while shooting zombies. Here is a before and after screenshot of what the rework of level 1 looks like:

AI Rework:


The AI is also getting a rework. Many people have told me how easy the game is, and how you can get through the game without even getting hit. This has proved to be true. The zombies now run ALWAYS instead of just a select few, and deal double the amount of damage from before. The military zombies with the bulletproof armor have been updated from 250HP to 750HP to act as sort of "tank zombies."


Conclusion


These are not the only updates, the game is overall getting a massive rework and many elements are changing. These are just the select few things I have to show off for now, but as time continues and progress is being made, I will constantly be keeping everyone updated. Thanks for playing MY TIME ALIVE.

2.1 UPDATE - Final New Content Update

Hello everyone! Thanks for playing my game and the suggestions I got. Throughout the past few months, I have used these suggestions to update the game accordingly. This has brought us to the final (major) update**. This update includes the finished version of the arcade mode, and a few minor graphical changes to the game.


Updates in 2.1:

-New menu for arcade mode.


-New Highscore system for arcade mode.

After each death, the highscore is updated. If you leave before death, the highscore does NOT update.

-Minor graphical changes.

enabled HDR, turned down the bloom, and change the color temperature a slight bit. Along with added depth of field (slight) and fixed slight performance with TAA on the main menu.

**Final version meaning last addition of new content. If bugs are discovered and reported they will be fixed in smaller patches. I am leaving the disclaimer on the arcade mode for now, but will most likely be removed in the future. It is too soon to judge that all the bugs from the arcade mode are fixed, so if you find any please report them. Thanks!

2.0 UPDATE - NEW ARCADE MODE

Hello everyone. MY TIME ALIVE v2.0 is now released and includes a few major updates. First,

------ARCADE MODE-----



A new wave based zombie survival mode has now been implemented. Survive endless waves of hordes and upgrade your weapons along the way. This mode is still in early testing phase, and is expected to leave the phase after about a month. With your feedback, I should be able to find and fix all the bugs in this short period of time.

What's in this new mode:

-New weapons (Shotgun, MP5, SNIPER, and KATANA).

-Endless hordes to survive.

-Highscore system is currently a WIP, but will be there soon.

-Fun arcade experience, can be played before or after the campaign missions.


-----BUG FIXES-----

-Minor bug fixes on level 4.

-Optimization improvements throughout the entire game (especially level 2).

-Main Menu audio bugs fixed.

Patch 1.21

Small patch that addresses some fixes and additions related to performance.

-A few minor bugs fixed

-All outside levels have been optimized to run better (I went from 60 to 140fps on Level 2)

-Problem with the game saves not working. They now function properly after each level.
