July 4th Update - NEW GAME REQUIRED
Greetings challengers and champions, new and returning! This new update brings forth a lot of amazing changes that really look out for your best interest as players.

IMPORTANT - NEW GAME REQUIRED
Due to a few major changes to the game, it is required that you start a new game. This is not optional, you must start a new game or you will receive crash errors. This is caused by fixing the bestiary menu.
With that said, let's get to the notes.
Pre-loading
In the fight to prevent lag in initializing sounds and images throughout gameplay, a pre-load system has been put into place. Every time you start the game, you'll be greeting with the load menu you saw above. Give it a moment and then you'll be able to jump right into the arena.
New Hud
Are you ready for this one, player? You better be ready. With this update, Mythic Victory Arena now has hud elements to provide you with some basic character information before entering the arena as well as new information inside of the arena.

Pretty amazing right? Here's what it looks like in battle right now:
This allows you to know how much exp you require until your next level, so you aren't hoping you level up before getting destroyed in a fight.
Skills Unlocked
An issue that got in the way of playing was how skills were locked to the weapon you have equipped. This is to say that if you had an E Rank Axe, you only had access to E Rank skills only. This is no longer the case.
You now have access to any rank skills you have unlocked regardless of the weapon you have equipped.
Do note, that previously ranked skills will be unselectable for use in battle if you have a higher rank version of that skill unlocked.
Daily Reward
Welcome back to viewing patch notes, here's a reward for you! Come back tomorrow for more.
That's what I'd tell you if I posted patch notes every single day, but I don't, so this gag falls apart. Oh well...
Every day you start up and load into your save on Mythic Victory Arena you will be rewarded with 500 AC for you to use on whatever you please. Load the game for a total of 7 days total and you get a big AC reward just for playing!
Bestiary Fixed
The bestiary now works and looks as it should. Take a look at it here:
Chaos Mode!
Here's a new option that you can enable from the options menu. It's called Chaos Mode. Every turn in battle, there is a 2% chance of a random battle effect happening. Anything from having your states buffed or debuffed, poison or HP regen being inflicted upon your characters, or even being granted a level up! Who knows what you'll get? It's chaotic!
EXP Formula Changed
The formula that determines how much experience you get for doing damage has been changed. Here's a quick rundown:
Any action that heals an ally character will grant you exp based on the amount healed
Actor EXP Rates are now taken into account of the total EXP gained.
Actor Luck stat has an effect on total EXP gained.
That's it, really! The important thing is that you get EXP for healing up now, so take advantage of that!

June 15th Update - NEW GAME REQUIRED
Woah, champion, take a moment and visit the hospital before jumping into these notes, you'll need to be at full health to hear all this!
IMPORTANT - NEW GAME REQUIRED
I really hate having to do this two times in a row, but it's a necessary evil to make sure the game is as good as it can be and can continue to be.
The Bestiary wasn't properly working since the game was released in its Early Access state, but it works now, and it's the reason for you to start a new game.
It hurts to make you go through this, but this is early access and this is likely to happen. I'm glad it hasn't happened often though.
In the future, I'll do my best to avoid a forced new game.
B Rank Unlocked!
The B Rank has been completed and is now available for play in Mythic Victory Arena. Face off against the water-type enemies who have a number of special properties to them.
Some enemies gain a stat increase whenever they kill one of the challengers.
Some enemies have their stats shuffle around each turn.
Some enemies can take you with them if you kill them.
Some enemies stack up their defenses against you, making them harder to kill.

Bestiary Update!
The cause of your forced new game, the Bestiary now works, but still needs to undergo some changes before it's at its full potential. For now, here's a screenshot of what it currently looks like:
Level Up!
While playing through Mythic Victory Arena, you'll notice you level up when you get a chance to gain Gold, EXP, or a skill. After your first 10 level up rewards however, you only see that message every 5 levels. So, to inform the player that the character they are playing has leveled up, I've added a message to show whenever it happens.
Full Heal!
A new item has been added to the game, called the Full Heal. This item heals all party members to maximum HP and MP, removes paralysis and poison, and can only be used from the menu. It's an item meant for use once you've unlocked the hospital and no longer receive free heals after every fight.
Or... you can sell it for 1000AC.
AC Rewards!
Since Mythic Victory Arena released on Steam in Early Access, there has always been one constant, the Arena Rewards. After going through a week-long play test myself, I've realized the AC reward for each arena was just too little to play with and forced grinding to the point of boredom.
Each Rank has received a tweak to their rewards and the Rank Clear Bonus has been massively increased, making it easier for players to move into the next rank with minimal grinding.
Drops!
Enemy drop rates have been changed to include more possible drops. It's possible to now receive a sack full of items once you clear an arena fight, which you can promptly unload into the item shop if you don't need anything. Rank+ enemies have increase drop rates and have the chance to drop ultra rare items.
Warning!
Here's the opener of the post, the warning. If you have Pro Mode disabled from the Options Menu, you will receive this prompt whenever your main character has less than 25 percent of their Max HP. This should serve a useful reminder for players to heal up once they've unlocked the Hospital.
Weapons and Armors!
Weapons and armors have gone under changes, standardization and balance tweaks. Primarily, axes, staves, and plate armors were touched, but a lot of special unlock reward items received balancing to prevent the game from becoming too easy. You can check which ones received changes in the patch notes below.
Magic Missile!
Spells received a balance change, in which their MP cost increases as you unlock higher rank spells. This is to prevent cheesing out a bunch of spells for free with some of the special MP Regeneration items available in the game. It also forces more thought into mana management.

Interface Tutorials
Navigating the menus in Mythic Victory Arena definitely seems daunting for first time players, especially when it comes to shopping. To that end, I've added interface tutorials for each shop area. The shopkeepers will talk you through using the menu if you say "Yes, please" to them.
If you complete all the tutorials, you'll be rewarded with an achievement!
Status Change - Confusion and Paralysis
Confusion and Paralysis have received changes to how they function. They are as follows:
If you are confused, you no longer attack anyone, but instead have a 50% chance for your attack to fail. If it fails, you hit yourself. It lasts for 4 turns and can't be removed via damage.
If you are paralyzed, you now have a 35% chance to have any action you take to fail. It also no longer disappears after a set number of turns.
Target Selection Update
This is the reason you have to start a new game, but before you start grumbling at it, take a look at this screenshot:
With this update, most single target magic spells have the ability to target all enemies at once instead of targeting them one by one. This is a game changer. Also, you can target anyone with a single target skill.
Enemy HP Bars
Ever wondered why it feels like an enemy never dies? Aside from that aggravating game-breaking bug that gives an enemy undefined HP, you can now see the reason why, with an HP bar! An enemy's HP bar will only be revealed after you defeat an enemy of that type to begin with, though.
Static Battle Menu Skills
All characters now have Static Battle Menu Skills. What's a Static Battle Menu Skill, you ask? It's a special skill that each character has that they have by default upon starting the game. You can use this skill in battle from the menu of attack options. You've likely seen them as Ralph's Frenzy, Leora's Panic, and Denira's Pray.
Here's what Drel's Static Battle Menu Skill looks like:
New Item - Essence of Experience
Do you ever feel like you're not moving fast enough through the levels in the Arena? Boy, do we have the item for you! It's the Essence of Experience. Use this bad boy and each party member in the fight will have their EXP gain multiplied by 1.5 times. The effects of the essence leave after the fight is completed, so be careful not to be wasteful of the item!

May 27th Update
Champions! I've been hard at work (both on this project and my two jobs irl) to prepare and push more polish out for you to enjoy before moving on to the next update, which will be attacking the problem of guiding new players through the layout of the Arena. For now, however, I've done a lot of work since the last update and you should read about it below.
New Addition! Pick Two
At the start of the game, you'd select your character and be off in the Arena without much to get you started, except for the gear on your back and the 750AC given to you by the current-standing Champion. This is no longer the case, after you start the game and select your character you'll be given the option to start the game with two skills. This is mandatory, you can not choose to have no skills (why would you though?) Here's a screenshot of it, so you know what to expect.
Clicking on a skill will tell you what it does and ask for your confirmation. This will make it easier on starting a new game from now on.
Skill Standardization
A lot of the default skills were created at a time of exploration, with very little proper thought and structure going into them. You would have noticed this in the higher rank of skills you saw. Some descriptions would be wrong and some would just not do what you'd expect them to do. Everything is standardized based on the skills you would receive in the level up unlock selections.
That means cooldowns, warmups, and status infliction percentages are all standard across the board now.
Skill Unlock Grants
Speaking of Level Up Unlocks, that has also been adjusted. When you level up and select to unlock a skill, any skill you choose will be immediately be given to you at its lowest rank, very useful if you're still holding onto that F Rank gear, but also useful so you won't be spending AC to learn that skill after unlocking it, which is really unintuitive to its design.
Formulae and Costs
With this update and the standardization mentioned before, all the skills throughout the game that haven't been properly standardized saw treatment given to them to fix up their costs and their battle formulas. Formulas for skills have been streamlined to fix a pesky bug that's an extremely silly corner case. None-the-less, that bug has been addressed. You'll see it in the patch notes.
As for costs, skills now have higher costs for each character, due to how combat plays out and to encourage the use of various other support items and skills in battle before using the really good skills. The important ones are noted in the patch notes, but almost all skills received this treatment.
Extras
Aside from all the good stuff mentioned above, I wanted to quickly talk about a few changes and fixes I think need to be mentioned.
EXP is awarded based on successful hit and the damage you do is a factor in the EXP rewarded. Another factor is, but hasn't been that noticeable, is your rank in the Arena. It's been changed to be more noticeable. The higher your rank in the Arena, the less EXP you gain from grinding the lower rank fights. The punishment is a little less severe if you're attacking the Rank+ encounter enemies, but it's still there.
A unique identifier has been added to the game to prevent save scumming to give yourself infinite gold with the AC Transfer system.
For some reason, the game would disallow you into a rank or clicking the C Rank would place you inside of the D Rank. This has been noticed and fixed twice now. Either the game hates me, or someone is pranking me. I hope this issue doesn't pop up again.

Welcome to all the new challengers and champions! I hope the Arena has been treating you well so far.
News
I'm bringing along a new update for the game, which fixes a few pesky issues and adds a few new features.
The first thing to note is many core scripts have been updated, so now the game should run a little bit better on more PCs.
Achievements!
Yep, you read that correctly. I managed to get Steamworks integration to work as intended, so now I've added some very basic achievements. Just things to get for rank clears. I'll be adding more achievements along the way. As for Steamworks now being integrated into the project, you can likely expect a few extra features to make your gameplay experience more enjoyable.
New Art!
The next thing on the list is Borrel. Our fist fighting monk has been drawn by the artist Miabun. Once you clear the D Rank, you unlock Borrel as a Hire. Check him out!
AC Transfer and Collect
What else, what else? Oh yes! The Arena Coin Transfer and Collect system has been added. For a small fee of 10% of your total deposit per transfer, you can send AC across multiple save files! Here's a quick look at it:
