Nadia Was Here

New boss fight and spell available!

Hi,

Since this is my very first announcement I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for playing Nadia was Here. It’s already three years ago that I’ve released the game I’ve been working on for a very long time and I’m still happy to see people playing it and leaving positive feedback. So thank you!

Today I’m thrilled to let you know that I’ve updated Nadia was Here. The abandoned school is now a little less abandoned. A new boss fight awaits and a new spell for Tereshan will be your reward! Also various bugs and balance issues have been fixed.

  • A new optional boss has been added to the game. The mimic. Don’t let its appearance fool you. This fight will be a challenge!
  • A new skill has been added for tereshan. Now you can transfer status ailments from members to your party to your enemies!
  • The main quest of the abandoned school has been shortened.
  • A handy staircase has been added to the school to travel to different floors more easily.
  • You can no longer trap yourself in the mirror room in the mines.
  • Bugs with the mirror image bossfight have been fixed.
  • The mole dinosaur boss fight now packs a bigger punch.
  • One of the later bosses has been made a bit easier to defeat.
  • Various other balance changes and various other bug fixes.

Hope you’ll enjoy the new update and stay safe!

Cheers,
Joep

Major Patch and Free Soundtrack DLC

Nadia Was Here has received a major update.

  • The soundtrack has been added to the game as free DLC!
  • Bug fix: Selecting a character while transitioning to a new battle no longer causes issues. (This was a controller only issue.)
  • Bug fix: Pressing both up and left while the cursor is on the top option in the shops no longer causes an error message to appear. (This was a controller only issue.)
  • Bug fix: The playing cards dropped by the jester enemy no longer show an error message when you steal their rare item.
  • Bug fix: You can no longer deselect Hogan in the first tutorial. This caused a problem where you were unable to proceed, requiring you to go back to the menu screen and reload the game.
  • Bug fix: Battling the dust devils on the way to the Fields of Ash with less than 3 party members no longer causes an error message to appear.
  • Some areas have been shielded off while a character has left the party to prevent unforeseen issues in other areas.
  • Mirrors you can walk through no longer show a reflection to hint that it's a passage.
  • Hemera's sliding puzzle in chronos temple has been simplified.
  • Added shortcuts to the abandoned school to minimize backtracking

New Update! D-pad support and more!

Hey everyone, I have some good news!
The new update for Nadia Was Here is now live!

This update comes with a couple of improvements. First of all, you've asked for it: D-pad support!
Battles, walking around and menus can all be controlled with the D-pad instead of the stick now. There is one exception: You still need to use the stick on the world map because the current map system requires 360 degree movement. I may look into this for future updates so keep suggesting possible changes.

Second: there is a new option in the options menu. This option allows you to choose if you want the game to automatically switch to gamepad controls when you have a gamepad plugged in. (The game did this by default before.)
This prevents issues if, for any reason, the game detects a gamepad when none are actually connected. (This may happen if you have installed certain drivers, for example.)

The default for this option is OFF. So be sure to set it to on if you want to play with gamepad! You only need to do this once.

Also, the main menu and options menu can now be controlled with the arrow keys, enter and backspace when a controller is connected.

Other changes include:
-More dialogue and pixies to help guide you through the game where things might have been unclear before.
-You can no longer use instruments while surfing on lillypads. Solving several bugs.
-Left trigger no longer does anything in battle.
-Volume can no longer change while changing screen sizes.
-Issue with pillar puzzle in final temple fixed.
-Chest with the harp of wind no longer reappears after you picked it up.
-Volume issues with octopus boss fixed.

As well as other subtle changes/ fixes.

I want to thank everyone for their suggestions. Please keep suggesting improvements and I hope you will keep enjoying Nadia Was Here!

PS. These changes have not yet been applied to the demo version, but I will get to that as soon as possible!

OUT NOW!

Today marks a very special day, as Nadia was Here is now available for purchase! People around the world can finally play and experience the project I've been working on for over 5 years.

To celebrate this special event, the game has a 10% launch discount for limited time only. I've also released a brand new trailer showing you the features of Nadia was Here.

Hope you'll enjoy the game as much as I've enjoyed developing it. If you have any questions or feedback, don't hesitate to ask them in the community hub and I will respond promptly.

I'm off to celebrate the release of Nadia was Here with my friends and family!

Cheers,

Joep

For pixelart lovers/artists: plant your seed!

Do you want to contribute to Nadia was Here?

The contribution is about pixeling a plant and leaving your mark in the game. Planting a seed is a recurring symbol in Nadia was Here for doing a small thing that can grow out to become a lot bigger. The top 40 plants will make it into my game as part of a side quest! By photographing plants in the game you'll unlock new amulets and skills in the game for the main heroes.

Don't hesitate to enter, there are many reasons your plant can make it into the game. Make something funny, interesting or whatever you like and you might find your plant in Nadia was Here when its releases.

The rules are simple:

1. Use the Nadia was Here color palette to draw a plant of maximum 12x12 pixels.
You can find the color palette over here: color palette
2. Send your pixelated plant in .png format to mail@jajaben.com with the subject 'I want to plant a seed in Nadia was Here'.**
3. If you make the top 40: your plant will be hidden somewhere in the game for players to find*

Submissions closes on May 17th 2017 at 23:59

*I reserve the right to make edits to your plant if it is somehow inappropriate.
**Once you submit your plant, you agree to transfer the rights to your art to the developer of Nadia was Here.

As always thanks for your support and feel free to share my request of pixelating a plant with your (gaming) friends. The more plants will get pixelated, the more variety of plants will appear in Nadia was Here.

Cheers,

Joep
