NAIR version 5.0.0 adds a new major feature: customizable game modes.
Custom Game Modes
A new button has been added, under the Discord button on the main menu, allowing you to create custom game rules.
Custom game settings are saved as "modes" which can be played through the main menu, like any other mode.
All modes are also compatible with online play, and support rollback.
Game rules include tweaking the player's movement stats, and toggling new abilities such as airdashing.
Game modes are saved as individual JSON files, which can be edited in any standard text editor. This should allow you to set values outside of what the in game editor normally allows.
But it's not my fault if something breaks, I warned you!
(But also tell me if it does so I can fix it.)
This feature is not considered "done"- if there are things you'd like to see added to the customization suite, please let me know.
New Default Mode: Random
The "Random" game mode picks random game settings in a certain range every time you open it.
This game mode is not fair or balanced.
Good luck!
Other tweaks
A new title screen to celebrate NAIR's 5th anniversary.
The colors of the title logo will now change depending on your custom colors for Player 1 and Player 2.
You can now enter any game mode (NAIR, Oneshot, etc) with only one controller.
That's all for this update! The next major update should feature CPU opponents. Thanks for sticking around for so long. This game's community has brought me boundless happiness over the years, and I will continue to update it as long as there are still people to play it. - Holly
NAIR 5th Anniversary Announcements
NAIR originally released on itch August 1st, 2019. That's 5 years ago today!
To celebrate this huge milestone, I'd like to announce several new updates for the NAIR series.
NAIR version 5.0 will be releasing later this month, featuring Custom Game Rules. You'll be able to fully customize the game to your liking! If you're not already in the NAIR discord, feel free to join and let the dev know what stats and abilities you'd like to see included. There's a new trailer up on the store page with a preview of this feature.
Additionally, NAIR is going to get bot opponents sometime in the near future.
Finally, we'd like to announce the next game in the NAIR universe: GRAB. Please check out the trailer below.
NAIR 5.0 and GRAB will be playable at Super Nova (formerly Super Smash Con) in Virginia next weekend.
More updates to come soon! Happy birthday NAIR. :)
NAIR 4.1.1
Fixed a bug where custom colors might not work when playing online with users in a different country.
Unversioned Patch/Tag Fix
Fixed a bug that caused the game to freeze indefinitely when creating a new tag, in some cases.
NAIR 4.0.0
In NAIR 4.0.0, NAIR players can go online, get in a lobby hosted by a DAIR player, and play DAIR. (And of course, vice versa.) You don't need to own DAIR to play DAIR if you have NAIR. Sorry, I know that's a mouthful.
The cross-game multiplayer compatability is the only added added feature of 4.0.0
DAIR is a new game (available on Steam) featuring a different move, a different stage, and different rules. DAIR releases August 1st.
NAIR 3.5.2
Fixed a bug where, when using tags with custom controls offline, both players would be assigned the same controller.
NAIR 3.5.1
Sound effects should no longer play multiple times during a rollback
Fixed a number of issues related to the Color menu when the player didn't have at least 1 tag
NAIR 3.5.0
NAIR 3.5.0 adds two highly requested features: custom colors, and music!
Music & Settings
Two new songs, composed by Max Miller (aka Funbil - their website)
Every sound effect has been rebalanced to accomodate the addition of music, also thanks to Max (my goat fr)
Individual music and SFX volume sliders have been added to the game options.
Also, your settings are now saved- NAIR will remember your light/dark & volume configuration
Custom Colors!
You can now associate custom colors with your controls tag!
Each tag can store 4 colors- body color and weapon color, for both light and dark themes.
You can also associate colors with the 'Player 1' and 'Player 2' tags, which will effectively change the default colors from red & blue to whatever you like!
Custom colors can be used online- by selecting a tag when going to the online menu. If you choose not to, the Player 1 tag will be used instead.
Your opponent in an online match will see the same colors as you- so if you go online with the dark theme, your opponent will see your dark theme colors, even if they are using light theme.
DAIR is almost done, and both music and colors will ship with the game day 1.
Indie Fighting Games Festival
Hi all!
There's a lot of ground to cover, so I'm just going to rapid fire a few updates.
NAIR (and DAIR) are getting a soundtrack! Like, music and stuff. A link to a sample of the battle track is at the end of the post! Of course, there will be sound settings, if you prefer the quiet,

NAIR is currently $1, the lowest it has ever or will ever be!
DAIR (if you haven't heard, an entirely new fighting game that is cross-compatible with NAIR online) is free to play as a demo for the duration of the event.
Vtuber Ulzzang_Aya will be featuring NAIR on their stream around 10am EST tomorrow, Friday the 14th, along with a few other fighting games!
An official NAIR and DAIR tournament are going to be held this weekend in the NAIR Discord, most likely Sunday.
