Retiring Necronomistore From Steam In 2 Weeks + Future Studio Plans
Hello friends,
For some time now I have been slowly removing games from Steam, and now I feel it is the right time to finally bite the bullet and remove Necronomistore. You will still be able to play it if you own it, it will be removed from 2+ weeks from now.
Why am I removing the game you may ask?
Quality standards of course, I feel that I can do much better and due to a rocky development and a major file corruption glitch, this game came out more than half-baked with 2/3rd's of its content missing. For any aspiring game developers out there, stray away from Construct 2, har-har. And beyond that, it isn't very good, it barely works due to constantly having to program around and fight the in-built physics system, as well as a truly awful sound design job.
Where next for the Necronomistore franchise then?
Good question, I have tried to reboot the series many times before without proper engine know-how as development started many years ago, meaning major game development no-no's such as building complex structures with non-interlocking cuboids, without snap to grid/edges all within the engine itself instead of just exporting with Blender or using some 3rd-party plugin to fix the issue. I have also encountered massive rendering issues due to using 2D sprites in 3D environments meaning mass perspective overlap. There may be a slim chance in the future for some sort of continuation of the series, of what it should of been, I have ideas for the story and a metric ton of unused assets but for now, I think its best to just move onto something fresh and inventive due to pumping another 1000's of hours into a project I am burnt out of, I would also have to rebuild everything from scratch in another engine.
What's next for the studio then?
Finally, some good news. Development on my next project, a cutesy 3D fishing simulator with a yearly release schedule in the same vein as the Madden franchise seems to be going swimmingly. Unreal Engine 5, excellent refined character designs and a minimalist captivating soundtrack, all years in the making. Hopefully I can aim for the 2nd half of the year and also release a free seasonal Christmas variant as thanks to the fans. Follow my developer page on steam for more updates, currently my pre-existing unreleased steam game pages need a purge, I will repurpose one of those games store page widgets for said project.
Thanks for putting up with my half-baked shenanigans.
With much love, - Oddfellows Software
Whats Going On With The Necronomistore Series?
Whats Going On With The Necronomistore Series?
Insight and updates from the Oddfellows Software Janitorial Department.
Hello everyone,
Wow, what a year it has been. What an awful year it has been. Isn't every year come to think of it?
Anywho, our scatterbrains over at the Oddfellows HQ finally hatched a good idea in regards to the Necronomistore games, We might be biting off more than We can chew, or at the very least for now.
If you are out of the loop, Necronomistore: Black Friday isnt the only Necronomistore game in development and definitely not the only game We are working on. To combat this, we have had the grand old idea of merging Necronomistore: Before Black Friday (the smaller prequel game) and Necronomistore: Black Friday together, albeit leaning more in Necronomistore: Before Black Fridays direction. What a mouthful.
Don't worry however, The plot and setting for the old Necronomistore: Black Friday will be used in the future in a later Necronomistore game as its too golden not to.
The steam store page for Before Black Friday will be used for another upcoming project so please migrate your wishlist's over to Black Fridays steam store page
Now that the big spiel is out of the way, what can I tell you about Necronomistore: Black Friday?
Necronomistore: Black Friday has had a rocky development due to how complicated it has been to get the game detailed enough as we want to convey the location. The shelves are choc-full of different products and unique art and there are small and stupid almost obsessive details like leaves brushed into a corner/tucked behind shelves or floor scratches close to the loading bay back doors, the game world feels unique and lived in.
Now for the bad news, the game is short as heck even after nearly a 2 year development time and still has a long way to go before we can really show anything but don't threat, this game really is something special and will be well worth the wait alone.
The plot keeps changing and we want to keep the experience fresh for all of you out there so we will try not to spoil too much but if any of you has broke a sweat over a minimum wage retail job, this will bring back painful memories.
Anyhow, thanks for sticking with us. please expect some great little free games coming in the mean time however. Apologies for the lack of updates, now back to hibernation for a while.
Kind Regards, - Oddfellows
Necronomistore Classic Going Free!
Hello to all of the Oddfellows Fans and Disheveled Steam Sale Serial Buyers who forgot that this game was in their library.
Well, this April marks the 2 year anniversary of Necronomistore and to say thank you for sticking with the infinite wait on the sequel and prequel, We are letting it go free later this week. That's right, free forever. Might aswell.
Necronomistore never really did rake in the cash or attract a larger audience like we had hoped and for good reason, the games content had to be cut before launch due to engine memory complications and various data losses. But its not worth crying about like sour squid-milk on the side of the road. Instead of remaking it, We are expanding on the world/ re-imagining a lot of aspects to make it a solid franchise and a fan favourite.
As previously stated, we are working on two games currently:
Necronomistore: Before Black Friday - A short little prequel with its own but connected story, serving as an introduction to Season 1, announced a little too early by accident but slowly looking better and better, more to show very soon.
We hope you stick around with us and enjoy Necronomistore Classic for what it is.
Lots of love, - Oddfellows Software

1 Year Anniversary! Get Necronomistore almost half off!
Hello everyone, a few weeks ago I promised Necronomistore would be going free to mark its 1 year anniversary, sadly due to steam support not allowing free weekends or reverting a free product back to a paid one at the moment due to you know what, 51% off is all I can do. But hey, its still a great time to jump in. I will be planning to unveil something to do with Necronomistore soon and so keep your eyes peeled.
That's all for now, keep things groovy in times like these. - Oddfellows

New Merchandise Announcement
Hello everyone,
Just checking in before Necronomistores release to let you know about two new fully redrawn pieces of merchandise as showcased in the Necronomistore collection seen here: https://www.redbubble.com/people/oddfellowsstuff/collections/1095193-necronomistore-collection?asc=u
These have been carefully created with months of little adjustments to purvey a certain standard that not only I would approve of as a creator, but you would approve of too.
The two designs are items which can be found in-game and are among my favourites and are:
Sadish - Clearly inspired by the vegetable, Radish (shocking, I know)

I am currently hard at work on new designs based on Necronomistore Items and Characters ( I think by after playing the game you can guess who) and hope that once again, you enjoy the overall products :)
