Nevergrind Online

Stagger now working as intended. Profane Spirit fix. Clerics slightly less Godly

221: Early Access 0.12.58 - July 16, 2022 9:15 PM EST
• Stagger now works as intended. Previously, it was possible to stagger a champion, unique, or boss mob and make them attack FASTER. It is now coded even smarterer now and simply adds time to their attack cycle, but not beyond their normal attack interval. TLDR: this is a buff to all skills with stagger.
• Profane Spirit (WLK) no longer activates if nobody in the party is alive. There must be at least one living party member in order for the explosion to activate.
• Added idle disconnect logic to reduce wasted server resources.
• Circle of Prayer (CLR) now has an 8-second cooldown and costs slightly more mana.
• Servant's set and its spirit received on hit has been reduced from 12 to 4.
• Fear was not working correctly on mobs. It now properly debuffs the target's damage.

Dungeon trading enabled!

220: Early Access 0.12.57 - July 16, 2022 5:00 AM EST
• You can now trade while in a dungeon. You will not be able to fight or do anything else while trading. There are new screen-locking mechanisms that prevents you from doing anything else outside of the trade window. Please keep your arms and legs inside of the vehicle at all times!
• Fixed several skills that had undefined references in the combat log.
• Mob health multiplier has been increased when in a party.
• By order of the King of Edenburg, the maximum amount of gold that can be traded at once is now 1 million gold.

Localized Context Menus, various localization adjustments, and bug fixes

218: Early Access 0.12.55 - July 15, 2022 3:33 AM EST
• Adjusted the damage calculations for Meteor (WIZ) which was calculating the damage too early causing various issues. The impact will also hit nearby targets even if your original target died before it landed.
• Localized the context menus to interact with other players.
• Updated the credits with the new localization contributors.
• Mobs will no longer target someone by default at the start of combat. They will choose their target once threat goes above zero. This is important for Rogues that want to open with Backstab and do full damage.
• Improved the German localization.
• The Gigantic Frostreaper now adds arcane instead of ice spell damage. Not retroactive.

French language support enabled!

217: Early Access 0.12.54 - July 13, 2022 10:55 PM EST
• Enabled French language support. About 5% of the lore remains to be translated, but it is complete enough to enable.
• Fixed an undefined reference for the Sonic Strike Nova damage.

Enhancements to the dungeon-town chat system

216: Early Access 0.12.53 - July 13, 2022 8:15 AM EST
• Fixed a few issues related to chatting with town from a dungeon.
• You can no longer send a party invite to people in a dungeon.
• The game no longer forces you to party chat after every battle.
• You no longer appear in town chat presence while in a dungeon.
• It is now possible to change your town channel while in a dungeon.

Dungeon town chat enabled and warriors receive a skill boost!

215: Early Access 0.12.52 - July 13, 2022 2:45 AM EST
• You can now chat with town while in a dungeon. If you would prefer peace and quiet while in a dungeon, join a private channel first using the /join command.
• Warriors received offensive passive skill cap increases.
• Target bar resistance & immunity messages are now translated into supported languages.
• Fixed a broken Force of Glory reference which output undefined to the combat log.
• Fixed some message handling that was incorrectly forwarding messages in the other client's language such as party invites.
• Improved the Polish localization.
• Skill tooltips now always appear in the same location. In combat, you must now hover for 2 seconds for them to appear. This helps prevent UI bloat during combat.
• Off-hand double attack is now only possible once hitting skill 150.

Polish language support enabled!

214: Early Access 0.12.51 - July 12, 2022 12:45 AM EST
• Added Polish as a language option.
• Updated the Russian localization.
• Updated the Japanese localization.
• When you return from town while soloing, you will be forced back to the /say channel.

• Added Russian language support!

• Fixed the mission description reference for Tracker Zydius.
• Adjusted the numeric indicators of current index/total number of characters on the title screen.
• Improved Japanese localizations throughout. Simplified the syntax of potions and scrolls for cross-language syntax issues.
• Fixed the /who by filter output which was not formatted correctly.

Nevergrind Online Goes Global

As previously promised, Nevergrind Online (NGO) was planning its global colonization of the gaming world. This campaign started by unveiling support for Chinese. And then German support was enabled. And, finally, Japanese is the latest language supported by the NGO client. Localization has been a core tenet of our strategy to establish NGO as a premier game for a global audience of gamers united by their love for slaying dragons.

Even in the early stages localization, this plan has proven fruitful! Within the last 24 hours, NGO has sold more copies in Japan than it has in the United States! A few weeks ago, Japan was not even on the radar as far as sales were concerned. Sales in China and Germany have seen a healthy bump as well. Thus I feel that it is worthwhile to continue expanding on NGO's support of various popular languages. I would prefer to have solid language support upon full release. Players have not reported any issues playing anywhere on earth from Japan, Australia, Canada, and Brazil! The gameplay is not particularly ping sensitive, which makes NGO a particularly suitable game for a group of friends that want to enjoy a cooperative dungeon crawl from locations across the earth.

I am happy to report that French and Russian are currently in progress. I am also looking for volunteers for Polish, Korean, Portuguese, and several other languages. If you think you can help, let us know on discord and we can collaborate! Translation is challenging work and constant iteration is key to having a solid translation in place.

It has now been a month since NGO's early access release. There has been a ton of progress! Localization, bug fixes, gameplay tuning, and quality-of-life changes have been at the top of the list. Once we are satisfied with the state of the game, I will set my sight on implementing the much awaited talent trees that everyone is clamoring for. Those will be completed first. After talents I can start thinking about nightmare and hell difficulty, the new level 99 cap, and exceptional/elite item tiers!

210: Early Access 0.12.47 - July 9, 2022 2:55 AM EST

210: Early Access 0.12.47 - July 9, 2022 2:55 AM EST
• Adjusted party timeout logic to be more permissive with long network disruptions.
• Improved party promotion logic. There were some cases where a follower would have a gold (leader) name.
• Party members may indicate that they are linkdead, but they may be able to recover from this state if their connection recovers.
• Probable fix on a mysterious single-player only bug that caused you to lose your level in some specific circumstances.
• Removed threat from Syntheisze (DRU).
• Removed threat from Litany of Life (BRD).
• Changed dragonkin's death sound effect.
• Adjusted the head coordinate for several mobs including crocodiles, lizardmen, and dragonkin.
• Reduced the threat on all Druid and Shaman heals. This makes Druid and Shaman better at low-threat healing, but without the same utility and burst as Clerics.
• The title screen now indicates your current, total, and max characters.
• Another round of improvements for Japanese localization.
• Improved the localization of all potions and call-to-actions which were overlooked.
• Expanded the credits to include the localization contributors.
