So we've been working hard to get the Story mode demo ready and we almost have it done, it's not going to be overly long but it will show you what to expect from certain missions in the mode.
The Story Demo will allow you to pre-determine what actions you may have taken in the story, this will effect the dialogue and the possibility of an extra 'companion' in your mission.
Before we get into the actual plan of the story mode I want to let you guys know of some new things we'll also be adding into the Sandbox mode which will be available in the Story mode aswell.
Dog Naming
While we plan for some of the Story to be voiced you will still be able to fully name your dog anything you want as with your players name which will be present in the Story and possibly also in sandbox at the same time.
Hiding
You will be able to hide from zombies now, instead of them constantly chasing you until they lose sight of you or you get too far away you will now be able to hide under a tree (Or in bushes when we add them in) to conceal yourself, of course if they are close to you they'll see you but aslong as you get a good distance away they will lose track of you.
Zombies will keep looking for you
Before if a Zombie lost track of you they would give up and go back to roaming around, now they will continue moving in your direction to find you before eventually giving up, to make sure they aren't too hard to lose we'll also be working on a proper Line of Sight system so they won't see you immediately if you walk up behind them.
Noise and Smell System
While not currently implemented we are going to rework the Noise system to properly work, and the smell system is just pretty much if you get too close to a zombie (And there isn't a wall between you 2) they will know you're there.
That's what will hopefully be coming in the next update or the one after that if they aren't all in it!
Now onto the Story, we have pretty much changed our original idea to go a more believeable and enjoyable story.
You will essentially be a part of a group, in this group you will get missions that help progress the main story and missions that help the group and get you better gear, of course the side missions won't be vital to completing the game they will help, there will be a choice system that will effect how people react to you and how willing people are to help you out.
We're not going to reveal too much about the actual story in depth yet but once we get closer to finishing it we will!
If you have any questions, suggestions or feedback feel free to comment below or post in the forum and we hope you'll enjoy the next update!
Fixes,Wildlife and Next Update
-Machete no longer crashes with green shirt
-Machete now properly damages Zombies
-Changed The GUI of Health and Water meters to make it more visible, now they are green and slowly decrease (Up)
-Added more deer
I've also added in an early version of our new Wildlife improvement system, every Animal will be different depending on their DNA, currently it's only Size but this will effect many different aspects of them, our plan is to make a proper system where they will migrate to certain areas that give them food and start families together etc, nothing too complex but this will mean killing too many of them could cause problems.
Next update we are planning on adding a demo version of our Story Mode unless of course there are some issues we need to address, we were going to release it in this update but it's not ready yet, we've changed our main idea of what the Story is so we'll be revealing more details very soon but it is going to be much better than originally intended and we hope you'll enjoy the small look when we release it. If you have any questions feel free to ask and if you find any issues please report them in the forum, thanks!

Updates! What's going on?
Hello Everyone!
We've been quite busy the past month and though we haven't posted any news posts we have been updating! We have added in saving (mostly, just drop your items before quitting!), new UI and a new Customisation screen which is now after you press new game instead of being on the main menu.
We are from now on going to post a news updates with each update and plan to update every week! We are currently working on gamepad support and are bringing in a new and fluid way of issuing commands to the dog by just using the DPAD shown below in the direction of what you want the dog to do, we are also looking to bring this to keyboard since clicking on the dog isn't the best way of controlling him.
We are also going to be adding a bit of Dog Customisation with the addition of a new dog race, images coming soon! We might be adding in gamepad support next update or after depending on how well it is working at the time.
We want to now slowly start work on the faction gamemode and implement that into the game so hopefully we'll have some images to show of that very soon. We did begin prototyping it so implementation of a rough concept shouldn't take too long and we'll probably include it in a seperate branch for anyone who wants to test it out (Though you won't do anything except watch random people walk around). We did mention before that we were thinking of having a spectator mode so instead of playing you just watch the random world unfold and so to add to this we are thinking of allowing you to create your own character with either random or personality set by you and allow you to watch and see how well your character would do in an appocalypse. How far we might go with this we aren't sure but it's a starting idea.
We have had a lot going on in our lives the past month so updates have been slow which we appologise for but everything has mostly settled down so we want to pick up speed again and push out more content! Which is why we are going for weekly updates.
We want to thank everyone who has picked up our game and those who have given feedback!
New Outbreak Early Access Released!
So it's been quite a crazy and hectic day, after 10 hours straight trying to get the build ready has been a challenge but everything should be fixed and ready now. We had to miss saving for the initial launch because it was hit and miss and we want to make sure it works perfectly so no one thinks it will work and have it corrupt or something the next day.
It's quite a nervous moment right now, we've worked on this for about a year on and off and to finally get to a point where the game is ready. We hope you will enjoy it for now and we hope that we can continue to support this game and make something fantastic with the community over the 6 months to a year or however long it takes.
We've got a few things we are getting ready such as items and dog customisation but they just weren't quite there for intial release but we hope to get them ready this week! We'll do our best to do steady updates, we aren't sure if we'll do 'Update whenever we've got a build' or do a weekly thing but regardless we will update the game.
There are alot of differences between this and the Demo such as hordes, better optimisation (We'll optmise the demo soon! Just need to get this out of the way first), larger maps, vehicles, better AI, More Customisation to come and more!
Thank You to everyone who has helped shape this game so far and we hope that we can continue to shape this game with the community!
It could take a little while for it to appear but it should be soon!
New Outbreak Early Access!
Hello! It's been a while since our last update and we've been quite busy with our game and other things. As you can see by the title we are going into Early Access. While it wasn't in our original plans we have decided Early Access is going to be a very good way in helping us make New Outbreak a great game, we have our EA page up now so you can read up on all the EA related information there. We wish we could have finished it but a new idea has come to us in how to make this game even better and we want to put a lot of attention on it so when it is finished it's not rushed. We also have financial reasons for doing this since we cannot afford to work on this game while also focusing on fulltime education and actually working, with this route we should be able to afford a little extra time to work on here in time normally spent working somewhere else.
We are going to be completely open and honest and willing to accept any ideas like we always have so any questions or concerns or Suggestions you have we would love to hear them.
In regards to how the game is going to be upon release: We will have the Sandbox fully working(Of course there might be issues but we will be ready to fix them) and ready as if it was a full release but the Story will be limited to a short demo of a scene not too far into the game just to show how it will play and what to expect.
In regards to Xbox, we are going to hold off on that release, we'd rather work on one platform rather than 2 at once so any issues that arrise on 1 platform could effect the other but that can be solved when full atention is there instead of fixing something only to break something else.
We want to thank everyone so far who has checked out our demo which has been so many, we hope we can continue to develop this game to its full potential and release something memorable.
Thanks from everyone working on the game!
Demo is Released!
The demo should now appear on the Store page and be available to download! The demo is the same as our previous demo except only much better and not broken! We will also upload this on other sites, itch.io etc for people who don't want to download via Steam or want an off Steam version. And the people who currently own New Outbreak should be getting an update soon! One main thing is Gamepad support is not currently in it though as soon as we can get it working we will add it in! We hope you enjoy it!
Demo Almost ready to be released!
We are just putting the finishing touches on the demo to make sure it's ready. You can read more about the demo using the link below! We will try to release the demo on Steam aswell as on other various sites, Gamejolt, Itch.io etc If you'd prefer to download it from those sites. To the people who currently have access to the game on Steam you will recieve an update and will be able to play it using your Steam copy!
Important Dev Log Update, Features and Release Deadline
So I thought best to make this an announcement for people who don't keep a close eye on our dev logs, this will outline major things in the game such as what features will make it into the game and when the game is planned to be released.
We are pleased to announce a small giveaway we are doing on Groupees, they are giving out 10 copies of our game on their this week(We only know it will happen this week not a date) which grants full access to the game now and when it is released. Currently you will only get to play the customisation portion of the game but we will eventually, once it becomes stable, allow you to experience the game while also helping us understand what we should add and change and ensure a stable launch. You can of course if you want to experience the game in full wait for the full release and play it then, either way is fine to us!
We may do something like this closer to launch aswell if people want it.
