There have been several requests for a demo. Your calls have been heard!

This demo allows players to download the first half of the game and experience a taste of the open-world vampire-hunting thrills that Night Gate has to offer.

In this demo, players will have the opportunity to dive headfirst into the dark and atmospheric world of Night Gate! Explore the haunting swamps of the south, hunt down ferocious vampires, and uncover the dark secrets that lie hidden in the shadows.

With the release of this demo, I am excited to offer gamers a sneak peek into the world of Night Gate.

Limitations:

There is a 45-minute timer that will end the game when it reaches 0.

Likewise, if players get past a pre-defined mid-way point, the game will also end.

Patch v0.5.6 Optimization Round 3

Hello, all you vampire hunters, in this patch, I focused on optimizing performance.

I'm currently running a 4070-ti and I see a solid 100+ FPS across all maps, the only areas I saw drops are in the Battle of South Gate when the NPC count starts to get high (getting between 40 and 60 FPS) and around the Swamp entrance of Dairy Town where I was getting 40 FPS (probably due to the number of lights there). So I worked those areas a bit to try to get the FPS higher, killing some dynamic lights and light resolution as well as lowering some texture res and killing some volumetric lights.

I would be curious to know what FPS you are getting and what your specs are.

Other Changes:
-In horde mode I have some buy-ables that are on the maps, players can buy the boomerang and bump stock at the expense of XP as well as turrets.
-Made the forest a bit more of a forest in the Black Forest. Added some bushes and more trees.
-Made the buttons round in all prompts.







Patch v0.5.5 Fixed the fast travel signs

There was an issue with the fast travel signs, the key points were not assigned right.
They should be working now.

Fixed an issue with the airboat floating over land.

At the Battle of South Gate the ghouls also have grappling hooks now to get up on the walls.

BATTLE OF SOUTH GATE

Hello, all you vampire killers!

When I was a kid, I really enjoyed the Lord of the Rings movie tie-in games, the Battle of Helms deep really made a big impression on me. Night Gate feels like it needed a big battle, especially since the game is literally about a giant wall.

THE BATTLE OF SOUTH GATE.




This battle comes into play in a couple of different ways.

First off the game has a new opening where the players get thrown into the battle in a "dream of what is to come." This acts as a tutorial by fire. When the player dies, they basically wake up from the dream and the game starts as it normally would.

The battle literally will spawn 10,000 NPCs, and everything about the battle is dynamic. The ghouls put ladders up, climb the ladders and try to blow the wall with drums of gasoline.

The second way this battle comes into play, the game now has a Majora's Mask-style countdown timer for the first half of the game (once you open the Night Gate, the timer turns off, the idea being the now activated auto guns null the Horde).




In the lore, it is explained that Grendel is building an army to attack the Night Gate, but we never actually see that army. so now, once you leave Dairy Town for the first time, the countdown is started. You have about one in-game week (about 1 hour in IRL) before Grendel arrives with his army. You can extend this time by burning Slave Cages filled with ghouls.

If Grendel does arrive, you are treated to an alternate "dark" ending to the game where you must fight Grendels horde of 10,000 ghouls to the death!



Main Changes:
-New location: South Gate, a military camp, can be found in the Black Forest.
-The Boomerang has been nerfed, it now has a cool-down.
-The Battle Rifle now has a Bump Stock that makes it automatic. This Bump Stock is found in South Gate.
-South Gate has been added to horde mode.
-Horde mode is now unlocked by default.
-The Sleep / Save system has been cleaned up.
-There are now 50 cal turrets the player can use in select areas.

New Achievement: Spartans: Kill 300 enemies at the Battle of South Gate.

Patch v0.5.3 NPCs and new awesome side mission!

Greetings, fellow Vampire Hunters!

Got some exciting news for you in this patch. I've listened to your feedback and have been hard at work to bring you more side missions. I'm thrilled to announce a new mission set in the Vale, where you can defend the Rance from a massive Vampire Bat Attack!

Earn some cash and protect the Ranch every night if you'd like. But watch out for those bats - they have a new flying attack that's sure to keep you on your toes.

In addition to this new content, I've made a few other changes.

-Fixed a strange bug that caused deer to burst into flames when shot with regular arrows.
-Tweaked some UI graphics, including objective markers.
-And for those who prefer a clearer view, I've removed DOF from the Airboat camera.

Update v0.5.2 Major New Weapon, New Dungeon, & New Achievement

Hello, all you vampire hunters!

This update has something special, an awesome God of War-style weapon overall and a new dungeon!

New Weapon


Mystic Boomerang



An ancient Boomerang that can cut enemies in half. This weapon will be your go-to once collected and can be upgraded to do massive damage. The three upgrade levels are Acid, Flame, and Silver.



New Dungeon


Forest Tower



The Forest Tower is where the Mystic Boomerang is found, which is in the Black Forest.
The tower was inspired by Bob-omb Battlefield so I think you will enjoy it.



A new achievement has been added for collecting the new weapon.

Other small changes:

-Fixed a bug where shooting ghouls in the head would cause you to lower your gun.
-The Cyclops now comes in two types, regular and Ice.
-A forge has been added in the Forest Tower and Grendels Temple where you can update the Mystic Boomerang.

Patch v0.5.1

Hello all you vampire hunters.

I have made the following changes:

-Added a fence around the Horde map to increase the action by funneling in the baddies.

-A cool cutscene when you first open the Night Gate

-Tweaked some of the sound effects on the Beta Vampire.

-Gave the armored Beta Vampires a cool mace.

-Fixed a bug where the Fan Boat hud and engine sound would cut out in the water.

v.0.5.0 Fast Travel and Scotty Blades Cameo!

Hello, all you vampire-hunting fans out there!

This update has something special, internet superstar and real-life monster hunter Scotty Blades, lends his voice for a cameo replacing the dialogue for the NPC "Sam" in the early parts of the game. Big thanks to him for that.

Fast Travel



Fast travel has finally been added to the game. In each of the main areas of the game you will find travel post, when you approach them, they will unlock and turn blue allowing you to fast travel between post.

Patch v0.4.9 New items, new enemy, music more polishing

Hey everyone!

Got some cool changes here.

A long-asked-for item, a Day/Night Token that can change the day to night or night to day can be acquired from Sun God Shrines where you trade your XP points.



New enemy type, Heavy Vampire with armor. A big vamp that has a giant shield. You can shoot off the armor to open up his weak spot, his heart.



Also, I have taken some time to tweak a lot of the music. You will notice a big difference with higher-quality music.

Other changes:


  • New dialogue for the intro.
  • Fixed a bug with the vampire/ghouls getting stuck in a grab animation.
  • The time of day pauses during the horse race.



Patch v0.4.8 controller and polishing

Hey all you Vampire hunters out there,

This updated focused a lot on getting the controls worked out, specifically for game controllers.
Now it has more of a Gears of War feel with the button layout.
By default now you can run by holding the lower gamepad button (A button on an Xbox controller) and roll by tapping it. The jump button has been moved to the left bumper.

I felt this feels better and allows for smoother gameplay.




Other changes:

-The aim sensitivity adjusts when you aim weapons. This really helps for those using controllers.
-The old farmer that races the horse was bugged (surprised nobody said anything). He was evil for some reason and would try to kill the player the first time you entered the map. This has been fixed.
-Sun rotation and shadows were bugging out when map traveled.
-Added some more uses for TNT, there are some rocks you can blow up and get treasures.
-Tonic stacks now
