Welcome back to our monthly community blog. Today, we want to take this opportunity to address some of the feedback we received in response to our July Community Questions. We also have some all-new gameplay footage to show you and a series of shiny new screenshots. Let’s get started…

Last month, we asked you all a series of community questions. We wanted to know what you’re most excited about, what has stood out the most for you, if there was anything you’d like to see from behind the scenes and what social media content you’d like us to focus on in the run up to launch. We had some fantastic responses, so thank you!
A number of you expressed an interest in “making of” content. This is something we can certainly look into. We really want you to feel like you’re on this journey with us, and strongly believe that by giving you a glimpse into what goes on behind the scenes, this will help with that. If there’s anything you’d like to see in particular, please let us know.
When asked what you’re most excited about, many of you said you were simply looking forward to exploring the world of Nivalis. And that’s understandable! We’ll continue to showcase what you can expect over the coming months through our monthly community blogs, videos and screenshots. As for social media content, gameplay was highlighted on a few occasions. It seems like many of you want to virtually explore this world. We’re open to this idea, so leave it with us and we’ll give you a series of guided tours when we’re ready.

COMMUNITY QUESTIONS
Can we expect any criminal activity in the game? I know that unlike Cloudpunk this game isn't playing up the, "it's PUNK!" in its marketing as much, but is this thing just cyber or is it also cyberpunk? It appears that you're some kind of up and coming business owner? Is it a front for smuggling, gang hideouts, or at least real estate disputes? Is that the angle they're going for? Or is it just a game where you sip cyber-coffee and eat cyber-fish?
You will not become a criminal kingpin in Nivalis. Our game focuses more around the immersive nature in this dystopian world. ION LANDS want to capture the atmosphere of how the life of a normal person feels in a Cyberpunk world. You have your day-to-day business, and your goal is to run all the businesses and own the nightlife of Nivalis. On the other side, there is a huge city to explore and of course there are many characters to meet and to learn more about their stories. BUT, there are some criminal activities going on in Nivalis and that’s the serial killer who is lurking through the streets.
A question about a playable character. Is it possible to choose gender, appearance, etc in the Nivalis?
We are aware that customisation is a big topic, especially for slice-of-life simulations. We are discussing with the team what’s possible.
Are there plans to release a demo before launch?
We know that our fans are eager to visit Nivalis before launch. But we need to make sure we are ready and that the timing is right. If there are any demo plans, you will be the first ones to find out about it. But it’s safe to say that there will be no demo in 2024.

Nivalis - Official Summer 2024 Trailer and Release Date Update
As part of today's 2024 Games Baked in Germany event, we shared some exciting and important updates on Nivalis. Not only did we have an-all new trailer to showcase, but we have a release window!
Nivalis will be launching in Spring 2025!
Our city has taken on a life of its own, growing and evolving in ways we are eager to share with you. To give you a glimpse of what's to come, please check out our newest trailer featuring lots of never-before-seen locations, train travel and story hints through Ava, one of the main characters you will meet in the game!

Hi everyone. Welcome to our May community blog, designed to give you a glimpse into what’s going on behind the scenes at ION LANDS and 505 Games. Today, we’ll be addressing a selection of community questions that have come through, as well as showcasing a few new screens from Nivalis. Let’s get going!
EATING OUT IN NIVALIS

NIVALIS AUDIO DESIGN
Speaking of work in progress content, if you’re new around here, you may have missed our behind the scenes deep dive into the audio design for Nivalis.
Last year, as part of Save & Sound 2023, our composer Harry Critchley spoke about his work on Nivalis. Take a look if you haven’t already:

How many apartments/houses will be available for rent? Will we be able to customize our home as we wish in a flexible manner? In Nivalis you will be able to rent out more than ten apartments and you can decorate them all as you like. One of your apartments can have a classic touch, the other one can be more futuristic. It’s completely up to you how you want to design your home.
Any chance Nivalis will be playable on Steam Deck? We are fully aware of the popularity of the Steam Deck and our aim is to make Nivalis playable on it. However, we cannot fully confirm it yet, but we are very optimistic that this should be possible.
Will we see changeable weather in Nivalis? Yes, the weather will change in Nivalis. There will be sunny days, but also cloudy and rainy days. For the latter ones, we don’t recommend going out on the sea and rather stay in the city.

Will the game be open world? Nivalis will provide you with lots of freedom and you can explore the city on your own as you like. Enjoy the skyline of Nivalis from our beautiful Skyhigh Gardens to the Metro Hub or Central Canyon. But every sky has its limit and the same applies to Nivalis.
The world of Nivalis consists of 19 areas that can be explored freely. These areas are connected via different means of travel, such as train rides, taxi rides or via the boat. Train and taxi rides are essentially cutscenes which play when you unlock/find a new area. Later on you are able to quick-travel to the new area via the map.
All water levels will be explorable with your boat and the boat will stay docked where you left it last.
What can we expect in terms of graphics options? It is too early to talk about this, but we will reveal more closer to launch.
Will there be pets that we can keep and take care of? This is an interesting idea, and we will discuss it with the team.
Will the game have its own original soundtrack, or will it carry over the same soundtrack as we've had in Cloudpunk? Yes, Nivalis will have a very long soundtrack produced exclusively for the game by our in-house composer Harry Critchley. Is any kind of combat planned for this game? No. Nivalis is a slice of life simulation and the focus will be on exploring the city at your own pace, but also to manage your own restaurants. There will be certain dangers and challenges in the game, but you will not overcome them with combat.

Moving forward, once a month, we’re going to take a moment to stop and give you a sneaky peek into what you can expect from our cyberpunk city, as well as addressing some of your burning questions. NIVALIS PHOTO MODE
For all the virtual photographers out there, we’re thrilled to give you a glimpse into photo mode for Nivalis. Virtual photography has boomed in popularity over the last few years and in a world like Nivalis, we just had to include it! But what can you expect?
Virtual photographers will get to enjoy a huge variety of options in Nivalis, typical of those features you’d expect when using a real life camera. Options will include the ability to change focus distance, aperture, focal length, field of view and so much more! In addition, you’ll also get to experiment with a wide range of creative filters and image modification settings. With so many tools at your disposal, you’re going to have a great time capturing the futuristic and vibrant world of Nivalis through your virtual viewfinder. We can’t wait to see your captures!

What engine does Nivalis use? Nivalis uses Unity which was also used for Cloudpunk. However, we’ve made various improvements during the development, so you’ll get to enjoy Nivalis at a much higher level of detail!
Can I own more than one apartment in Nivalis and if so, can they be customized? Yes, you can own multiple apartments in different areas of the city and customize them as you like. Some of them will also have an amazing view over the Nivalis skyline!
Will there be Mac OS support? Unfortunately Mac isn’t in our current plans. Our focus is on delivering a strong experience for PC players on Steam.
Will there be voice acting? Or is it a text game where you need to read? Yes, we will have over 100 interactable characters in Nivalis including voice over. Thanks to the voice actors and the mocap session we did last year, Nivalis' residents will feel very realistic. More on this in the near future!
Will there be a demo for Nivalis before release? We have not made a final decision on a demo yet.
Will there be mod support? Right now, there are no plans to bring mod support to Nivalis.

First Player Impressions at WASD (London), TGS (Tokyo)
In August, we were lucky enough to take Nivalis on a world tour to both WASD Live (London) and Tokyo Game Show (Tokyo). There we shared more information about the game to both press and fans alike – and we can’t wait to do it all again in 2024.

Alongside this, players were able to get their first hands-on and could explore Nivalis for the first time.
The demo explored the first 20 minutes of gameplay, which had you opening your first Noodle Bar, thanks to Thaddeus, heading out on the water for the first time and beginning to grow/print your own ingredients in the greenhouses. You can find out what people thought below including some wonderful quotes from the likes of IGN Japan, Famitsu and Gizmodo.
