Kickstarter and new game Friary Road

Hello everyone!

Remember we said in the previous post that we have some exciting news to share? We actually have TWO announcements to make!

No Longer Home will be coming to Kickstarter this month!

29, the first chapter to No Longer Home, is now around 70% complete, and Kickstarter will help us give it a final push past the finish line. We'll be announcing the launch date here and on all other social media, so keep your eyes peeled!

Secondly, alongside the launch of the Kickstarter, we are releasing a free game called Friary Road which acts as a short prequel to No Longer Home! Bo and Ao (protagonists of No Longer Home) are the only ones left after a barbecue and find themselves stargazing, pondering about their future, their identities, and what lies beyond their universe. The game is based off a very short vignette we made for the Fermi Paradox Jam on itch.io.

Friary Road is available immediately on Patreon for people who have pledged over $1 a month. If you’re not a patron, don’t worry! As we mentioned above, it will be available for everyone to play on the Kickstarter launch day.

We’ll update you on an exact date for the Kickstarter and Friary Road soon!

29 Beta Demo Access

Hello everyone!

It’s been a little quiet on our end. Here’s a little update on what we’ve been up to lately.

Last week we showed a brand new demo of 29 at Feral Vector, an event held in Hebden Bridge, UK. Packed with unique interesting workshops, LARPs, talks and adventures in local woods. Feral Vector is a video games event like no other, where people who aren’t familiar with video games are not only welcome but highly encouraged to join in. It’s a space that has always encouraged us and the development of 29 and that we’ve come to see as home.

We set up a space somewhat resembling the studio we used to work in; laid out a few of our sketchbooks consisting of a concepts and ideas we’ve had/have for 29, which we haven’t been seen before. In previous years we’ve had the game set up in the main area. This time we decided on at quieter corner, which provided a much more intimate experience with the game.

This years and last year’s vignettes shown at Feral Vector, other exclusive updates and behind-the-scenes development logs for 29 are available on Patreon for people who have pledged more than $1. (It’s worth bearing in mind that you’ll receive any claimed rewards after your first billing.)

If you don't want to miss any updates we recommend signing up to our mailing list.

We also have some exciting news coming up very soon, keep your eyes peeled!

29 Delayed

Ok, so as you can tell from the title we’ve got some unfortunate news, here’s the short of it: we’ve decided to delay 29. It’s still coming, don’t worry it’ll just be later than we said it would be. For a myriad of reason (some of which we’ll go into below) 29 will now be coming out sometime during early 2018. Sorry to anyone who’s been excited to play the game, but we promise the it’ll will be much better for it. Thank you for your patience.

While I was in Japan with Hana for Tokyo Game Show we had sometime to talk about the current projection for the game. We concluded that if we wanted it to reach the level of polish we’d be happy with, as well keep our mental and physical health, we’d have to spend some more time on it. This is pretty much entirely because we are a small team, most of whom have other jobs and currently we are unfunded, outside of our patreon.

This last month has been especially exhausting for Hana and I, but 29 is still coming along really nicely and we’re still really excited to be work on it and other ideas we’ve been discussing for the following chapters to No Longer Home.

As always if you have any questions you can tweet at us (or follow for updates) @humblegrove on twitter.

We’ll update you with an revised release date closer to the time. Until then keep being great, don’t crunch and thank you for your support!
