Good day vikings! Today we are celebrating 1 Year since we launched the Nordic Ashes Demo whoop whoop!! This will be a nice and lengthy post, but filled with love and positive energy ofc (and surprises).
And nothing of this would be real if it wasn’t for you! So we want to thank you once again for your amazing support, all your comments and great ideas! We are so happy to have been able to implement many of the suggestions you have made.
Many of you already know our team a little bit, but for those who don’t, we wish to introduce ourselves :D
We are Noxfall Studios, an independent team of 3 developers. Each of us specializes in one field but we also do a bit of everything else (copyrighting texts, managing translations, social networks etc). We’re happy to do it this way, that way we can manage everything from the inside and make our own decisions.
Axeldör, is the game director. He came up with the idea of this game after enjoying survivor games during this childhood days and later playing other games such as Vampire Survivors. He’s programmer and designer and is always thinking about new ways to improve the game and create new mechanics for every new character and boss.
Fengos, programmer and designer, will always be sure everything is perfectly placed in each realm. He also does a lot of testing, which is essential during the development.
Naya is our community manager, but on top of all, our 2D artist. Everything you see in-game has been drawn and designed by her: characters, enemies, props, UI… literally everything.
Anniversary Skins
Oh, and the surprise… we’ve designed an exclusive skin for every character!! That means 8 skins total in this new update!
The way of unlocking them is pretty easy, you must beat 3 different realms with each character to earn their skin. And for those who have already played a ton, you will already have them unlocked automatically! We hope you really enjoy them as much as we do. It has been so fun designing them and bringing them to life!

Nordic Ashes Artbook
We are working on an Artbook!! Of course, there’s still a lot of work to be done, as we’re just halfway through the development of the game, but it’s finally coming together! It’s gonna be EPIC!

Gnöki plush!!
Wait wait, WHAT?! Gnöki plush on its way! So many of you have requested a Gnöki plush… and it’s finally going to become a reality!! We are working on the plush design already and we will be able to talk more about it in a few weeks. We couldn’t wait to share the news… WE ARE SO FREAKING EXCITED! Here’s the schematic of the plush… it’s so adorable OMG!!!
I (Naya) have already chosen the perfect spot for him in my room, just beside me next to my tablet, he will be my co-working companion, yay!!

This stage is absolutely opposite to the previous one, Vanaheim, filled with light and bright colors. In Norse mythology, Helheim is the realm of the dead. Get ready to face many ghosts and spirits as you make your way through the depths of this dark world.
At the end of wave 4 you will have the opportunity to challenge Hel, the ruler of the underworld, as the final boss. Did you know she was Loki’s daughter?

Hello! While we are getting everything ready for Helheim beta, we have added new Original Sountracks to Midgard composed by our teammate Rubén Melià. We can't wait for you to listen to them! We have also fixed some of the bugs you have reported.
About the Character's Yggdrasil branches. We haven't forgotten about them! We will add them in future updates.
We are aware of a bug that makes some Bosses invincible, like Sindri or Sindrok. Once we solve it we will update it in a hotfix.
Fixes and adjustments
Critical attacks weren't damaging enemies with the Armor ability.
In certain cases, Hansi's dash could break through Orglo's jail.
Minor corrections related to languages.
And some great news! Next week (July 1st) will be 1 Year since we launched the Demo!! We have prepaired a super surprise for that day!!

Time for a new character to join our ranks! Today we present… Hansi, the Shadow Rogue! Hansi has spent many years trying to overcome the dangers of Ragnarok. Thanks to his ability to transmute shadows, he is able to use the energy of the enemies he destroys to his advantage.
This also means many many new leaves to add to your Yggdrasil tree.
We are currently working on Helheim Realm and it will be ready for beta in two weeks! In the meantime, enjoy the new character and have an amazing rest of the week. Cheers!

Hello and good morning/evening/night :D Today’s update comes as follows:
Ragnarok VI and VII
Today we bring you the new 2 difficulty levels of Ragnarok Mode for those players who still want a greater challenge and test their skills. Ragnarok VI and VII are now available in Midgard. They come with curses and legendary abilities for Elites and Bosses. And beware, these new levels are really challenging!!
We have added 50 more Yggdrasil leaves that can be obtained with seeds. And also, a new Yggdrasil upgrade that will allow you to resist enemy damage more easily.
Fixes and new content
The amount of time between light beams in the Lights Curse has been increased.
Projectiles from Death Curse now fire right after the enemy dies.
4 New curses have been added. There is now a total of 8 curses.
3 New legendary abilities have been added to Ragnarok VI and VII.
Vanaheim Ragnarok is no longer available on Custom mode (we will release it in the near future!)
ENDLESS beta news!
We are still working on Endless mode and have made a few changes and performance improvements. We have a little bit left to get it just the way we want it and make it a great experience you can all enjoy. Next Monday we will launch a Beta so you can try it. We will be reading all the feedback and suggestions to improve it as much as possible!
With next week’s update we will release Yggdrasil branches for every character, so you can boost their potential and survival chances. It is also time for a new character, which will be related to shadows… ːNA_Gnokiː

Todays update comes with 2 new Game Modes and balances overall difficulty of the game.
Daily Challenge
Find a new challenge every day. In this new game mode, you will be able to compete with other players to see who makes the best time or just challenge yourself and see how far you can go. This game mode has the following features:
All players will play in the same conditions, same shrines, relics, survivor, realm, etc...
We want everyone to have the same opportunities, therefore, all content is unlocked. However, you won’t be able to unlock new content for your regular runs or the glossary.
You will be rewarded with 500 extra seeds and a Gnöki Badge the first time you complete a challenge each day.
These runs have restrictions, such as no shrines or crates among others. Curses, Enemy Modifiers and Enemy Abilities may appear, making the run more challenging.
In return, you will be aided by powerful blessings that will grant unique abilities.
You will have a specific Yggdrasil each day, with a 100 leaves to spend.
Leaderboard will be updated every day at 00:00 UTC.
In future updates we will be releasing new Blessings, Curses and Restrictions. As always, we will be happy to read all your suggestions and ideas to create new content!
Custom Mode
Many of you have been asking for the possibility of making a run with your own custom parameters and being able to ban relics, so here we go! First, choose a survivor, realm and difficulty. Then, you will be able to set some restrictions, such as disabling Yggdrasil or not being able to ascend, among others.
And what you were all waiting for… We have added the possibility of banning relics, as many as you want (you must have unlocked them in the Glossary and picked them up in a run at least once).
The seed drop % will vary depending on the restrictions and bans you have chosen.
We will be adding new parameters with which you will be able to customize your game in future updates. Please feel free to add any suggestions in the comments below!
Difficulty balancing
We have readjusted the difficulty of all Realms as there are still 4 to come and we don’t want the game to feel impossible to beat lol. Enemy health in both Jotunheim and Vanaheim was too high compared to previous stages. This will make Ragnarok difficulty scale better too.
Bosses in Rage mode won’t have their movement speed or size increased anymore. The only stat that will increase will be the damage they deal.
We have also reduced enemy Giantism ability and reduced the speed at which they grow. It is now limited to a maximum, preventing bosses from getting extremely large.
Fixes
Legendary Relic Beam Pyramid damage was not being tracked.
Pause panel tooltips were not being displayed properly.
Tooltips were not being displayed properly.
After defeating a Raid Shrine boss there was a bug with the music.
In-game glossary was not working properly

We’re happy to release Jotunheim Ragnarok at last! Wield your best weapons and get ready to crush some ice! We’ve also made some changes to the Freezing Curse due to your feedback and hope it now feels less vicious. Let us know what you think!
Challenge Mode - Beta
Challenge Mode has a new feature: Blessings, which will give you a nice boost in every run. We’re close to finishing the Challenge Mode development. The reward for completing each day's challenge will be 500 seeds and 1 Gnöki badge.
After that we will keep improving Endless so we can open a Beta soon.
Fixes and Balancing
Some fixes and balancing thanks to your suggestions:
Beam Pyramid Ascension wasn’t showing in the Glossary.
Vanaheim golden statue’s laser didn’t hurt you if you stayed still.
Some bosses could spawn off camera (Jotunheim and Vanaheim final bosses).
Jotunheim Freezing Curse time required to remove a stack has been reduced.
Jotunheim torches stay on for more time and off for less time.
Boss health in Ragnarok IV and V has been reduced.
Bosses take more time to enter rage mode in Ragnarok mode.
Enemy Gigantism ability has been nerfed.
Leaf cap has been increased by 50 in the seed/leaf exchange.

Hello everyone!
Today’s update is all about Beta Challenge Mode. This new mode will be a challenge for those who want to push their gameplay further.
Every day you will have the opportunity to play a new run, completely different from any other. This run will be the same for everyone. That means you will play with the same character, same starting relic, same shrines and rewards, etc.
In case you haven’t unlocked a character or relic, that won’t be an issue as everything will be unlocked on Challenge Mode.
As the aim of this game mode is that everyone has the same opportunities, your Yggdrasil will be disabled. However, there will be a few random upgrades available each day. The only thing that may make runs a bit different from each other is that you will have a fixed amount of leaves to use in the daily Yggdrasil available upgrades.
DISCLAIMER: Our recommendation is that before you try Challenge mode, you have already conquered all realms, as it will be quite challenging if you are a new player.
We still need to balance the difficulty, restrictions and perks you will find in this game mode, so we want to keep it as a beta until next week. We can’t wait for you to try it and let us know what you think on Steam forums and our Discord channel.

Some bosses stayed immune to damage when they changed phase.
You could skip boss different phases if you deals very high amounts of damage.
