Year of the Penguin!
Hi explorers,
This is the year! Nova Antarctica comes out in 2023 and we’re excited to show you more ahead of its release.
To start off, we want to catch you up on what’s happened since we announced Nova Antarctica.
In August, we went to Gamescom with a very early demo of the game where a few select media got to play a very early build of the game.
In October we were featured in MIX’s NEXT showcase where we showed a little bit more of the game and even included a little sneak peek of a new area and just before the end of the year, in December we appeared in IndieLive Expo with a small clip.
Let us know in the comments if you caught our videos at either of the showcases!
Meanwhile, the team has been hard at work behind the scenes and we’ve got some gameplay sneak peeks at work in progress areas of the game to show you today as well as some small additions to the in-game mechanics!
To start off here is a little blast from development past - you can see our protagonist from their inception to their current look here:
There’s a digging mechanic in-game now which will help you find materials in the world.
To help further, you can also chop trees to gather wood:
We’ve also implemented a goal assist system which will help you find your way, all you need to do is consult your map and it will guide you in the right direction:
And to bring some cuteness to your day, here are some work in progress animations for the penguin you saw in the announcement trailer:
Over the coming weeks and months we also plan to give you some insights into the world and challenges you’re going to face in your mission at the South Pole, reveal animals you’re going to encounter on your journey and offer up some tips and tricks on surviving the Antarctic wilderness.
To keep up-to-date, make sure to wishlist Nova Antarctica and follow us on Twitter @NovaAntarctica to find out more!
