Bugs Patch + Steam Achievements Fixed. Improvement of some systems

Hey guys!! Long time no see :D

I put the game on a big sale on a whim for Halloween, and we got wayyyy more sales than I ever could have expected!

To honor that, I came back and finally made the grueling journey I needed to to make some fixes on this game.

It's been well over a year since Nuumonsters was last updated, last time I worked on this game the Steam achievements weren't working, and then GameMaker changed how you do steam stuff.

After finally converting my project to use the new system, I was running into an error that was stopping the game from launching at all, so I've been unable to send this update out until now :(

It turned out being an issue with POWERSHELL of all things, if you can believe it!

Regardless, I'm now back older and wiser, and the game is fixed, and at this time there is no bugs or issues I am aware of.

I hope you can continue to show me your love and support you all have provided over the years of my game development^^

Now that this issue is fixed, please let me know if you find any bugs or issues! I will be able to fix anything and everything rather quickly with this hurdle finally out of the way.

I've become a significantly better programmer in the years that followed the release of this, my first game, Nuumonsters :)

I'm really looking forward to continuing the Nuumonsters journey in the near future, with my newfound abilities, please look forward to it!

EXP Balance + Full Menu Conversion to Keyboard/Gamepad Controls (No More Mouse)

In this updated we finally, finally finished converting all of the menus to remove the need for using the mouse. You can now comfortably play all of the game with one hand on the keyboard, or on your gamepad without having to move around a little mouse cursor with your control stick.

We also spent a lot of time balancing out the experience system, and with some help I believe we've finally nailed it. To combat the lack of an experience sharing system, we buffed the experience gains for towards monsters in nearly all cases, but still of course, you will gain much more experience when battling trainers versus battling wild monsters.

There was also several minor fixes that went in to play, including issues with a couple of the cut scenes, rewording of some dialogue, and so on.

P.S. Achievements are working again. Sorry that they keep breaking!! The reason for this is because I keep changing computers, and because of that, Nuumonsters is no longer able to find the Steam SDK to communicate with steam achievements ;( But now that I've discovered the reason for them continuously breaking, we should be able to keep them active and functioning from here on^^

For those that have been wondering if Nuumonsters is still being worked on, the answer is yes, although, the work has been very slow as I am remaking most of what makes up the game. I started Nuumonsters 3 years ago, around the same time that I started making games full-time, and I have learned so much in these three yeas. Nuumonsters was intended to be a small game, but the interest has inspired me to make it more and more complex as I was working on it. Unfortunately, because of the transition from small, linear game, to big, complex title, the Nuumonsters source quickly got out of hand with all of the changes I had to do.

This is why I am now working on Dokimon + MonTamer Maker. MonTamer Maker allows us to very quickly make creature collector games, and it is what I would be structuring the new and evolved Nuumonsters which would also result in it's transition out of early access. MonTamer Maker started out exclusively as an engine just for rebuilding Nuumonsters with, but I later decided to to sell it along with new, to-be-made assets. Dokimon is a direct product of MonTamer Maker, and would released AFTER Nuumonsters exits early access (which is coming soon). Said assets will also influence and be used in Nuumonsters, the more art we have (and don't have to make to continue production) will further increase the speed at which Nuumonsters can be finished :)

Even to this day I have been hiring artists to work on new Nuumonsters art (nearly 15+ large monsters added last update!) and I have been working on the story, and also just recently ordered more music that will be included in the game (now in production).

I can only ask for your patience while I work with my now team (Nuumonsters started as a solo project!) to continue learning about making games and eventually create the Nuumonsters we all hope and dream for, free of bugs, intuitive features/ui, and rich with features, characters, story, events, and all the other awesome things I've come to want to add to the game.

P.S. I apologize for the lateness of this post. I have been trying to post it almost every day for a couple of weeks but Steam wasn't allowing me to upload the required images I needed to post this :( I just tried again today 6/2/2022 and finally have been able to upload the pictures!

New Monsters + Bug Fixes - 5/30/22

ADDED - Lots of new large monster sprites have been added!
FIXED - Fixed the shader issues with trainer intros and monster capture sequence
FIXED - Fixed some issues with NPC wander/look script
FIXED - Smoothed out some of the BGM fade ins/outs

During this update we have also optimized a lot of the systems that deal with the monsters and how they draw sprites. We're continuing to find new and better methods for building games and have been re-creating a lot of the systems that Nuumonsters uses to create a better experience. Along with re-creation of the systems, most-to-all of the user interface will also be replaced and controls will likely be improved as well.

ADDED - New Big Battler sprites for the following monsters:

FIXED - Some issues with entering rooms in Blueberry Bay

Chisa + Yshiro are BACK! Reworked EXP System + MacOS Port Fixed - 3/1/22

Event monster Chisa and Yshiro are back for the Nuuversary! Find them in your PC if you didn't have them from before :D

- 13 New large monster battler sprites have been added to the game, more coming ASAP!
- Completely reworked formulae for gaining EXP and leveling up
- Fixed and uploaded MacOSX version of the game
- Fixed a couple minor issues and visual bugs in battling

Teleporters + Nuuversary Hotfixes and other Minor updates - 2/22/22

- Adds teleporters to Booby Blossom and Blueberry Bay
- Adds a few more rooms to Blueberry Bay and other towns
- Adds "searching NPCs" (basically NPC's will just look around now)
- Updated tileset slightly for Blueberry Bay and Booby Blossom
- Fixes a few minor bugs

Nuumonsters 1 Year Anniversary brings the biggest update yet! - 2/18/2022

ADDED - Quest and Story system finished, complete with cut-scenes, side quests, quest trackers, and all that fun stuff! First few quests already in and working with more to come asap
ADDED - Blueberry Bay has been officially finished, with never before seen sprites and animations in almost every corner of the city.
ADDED - All new menus!! Whip out your smartphone and use your keyboard to navigate! All menus now have full gamepad/keyboard support :D
ADDED - Recreated ALL trainers bringing new sprites, teams, first time encounters, and much more^^
ADDED - Elite trainer locations have been changed and most given an personalized area where they stay
ADDED - Worldmap has been added into the game as a smartphone app ^^
ADDED - Most empty houses have been updated with new rooms and NPCs!
ADDED - Lots of new areas added which include NPCs, Trainers, and Items. Examples being the rooms the Elites now stay in and a few caves that have been opened up 🙂

Notes: I ran into some nasty bugs this week which delayed some progress just slightly, I'll be updating the game a few more times over the following week with those finished changes as well as patching any bugs we find 🙂

Finished Capture Animations and Improved Battle Messages! - 12-29-21

ADDED - Awesome new capture animations and better battle intro messages
ADDED - Ability to skip trainer intro by pressing a key
ALTER - Adjusted nearly all items sprites positioning and added outlines
ALTER - Fixed and adjusted some sound effects, much better!!
ALTER - Changed Battle UI slightly and fixed some visuals errors
ALTER - Updated holographic sign posts animations (+ Boat sign)
ALTER - Made some minor map adjustments in preparation for WIP features

Trainer Battles Sprites and Achievements + Bug fixes- 12/20/21

ADDED - Trainer Battler Sprites (WIP)
We now have about 10 Trainer Battle Sprites and some awesome transitions in battle!! Currently have more trainer sprites, animations, and sound effects being made. Look forward to it!

FIXED - Achievements. Achievements are working just as they did before, yay!
