Hello to all,

The title says it all - Simplified Chinese localization added, this brings a total of languages Totemlands supports to five - English, French, Spanish, Brazilian-Portuguese, Simplified Chinese.

More languages may be added in the future. I'm currently working on publishing the game to consoles, primarily to Nintendo Switch. Also I just started working on a new smaller game, more news on that in the future. Finally, I have some ideas for a tiny Totemlands spinoff, but nothing is set in stone yet.

Totemlands Full Release



Hello to all,

Totemlands version 1.0 is here! It's not the final version yet, per se, because at least one major update is in the works with bunch of new content. If you wish to find new content through playing the game don't read this post as it's a detailed list of things added. Anyways, here is what's new in this version:

Features



Alternative Spirits
You can now find alternative version of already existing Oaklinger spirits, these are:

  • Spotted spirit (alternative of Dotted spirit).
  • Slime spirit (alternative of Goo spirit).
  • Bird Spirit (alternative of Feather spirit).
  • Mechanical Spirit (alternative of Stone spirit).
  • Moon Spirit (alternative of Star spirit).
  • Tentacle Spirit (alternative of Scaly spirit).
  • Prickly Spirit (alternative of Horned spirit).
  • Specter Spirit (alternative of Phantom spirit).
  • Vision Spirit (alternative of Skull spirit).
  • Shadow Spirit (alternative of Colorless spirit).

Be careful as this spirits are move vicious and dangerous and the can easily knock you character out. This brings a total number of spirits in the game to 20.

New Totem Pieces and Relics
With the arrival of alternative spirits 10 new totem pieces has been added, these produce the most expensive Relics yet.

Perfect Totems
New type of totem pole added - Perfect Totems. Instead of regular Relics, each of these lanky structures produces one Perfect Relic.

Treasure Hunting
Detector - a new tool added, with it you'll be able to detect invisible cases called Spectral Chest scattered around the Oakshade, which contains valuables.

Badges
Simple badge mechanic added to the game. Badges when worn gives player some kind of boost - increases movement speed, grants more health points, etc. Currently there are 11 different Badges.

Fishing Minigame
While there was fishing in the game already, a new type of minigame has been added. Now when you hook a fish, a reaction minigame will start. Upgrades added also, which makes fishing for high level fishes easier.

New facilities

  • Blueprint Printer facility added. Prints out one blueprint every day.
  • Relic Dispenser facility added. Produces random Relic every day.
  • Electronic Request Board facility added. Provides requests, that can be fulfilled for profit.
  • Automated Trading Machine facility added. Facility that previously was only present at Hollow Oak can now be built on your land.
  • Beacon of Oaklingers facility added.
  • Fishing Net facility added. Catches one fish every day.


Governor's Office
New facility opened up in Hollow Oak. In Governor's Office player can expand the land, increase totem height limit or buy badges.

Renovator's Workshop
The last facility to open in Hollow Oak is Renovator's Workshop. It offers house expansion and exterior renovation services.

Fisherman's Hut
New store in Ridged Cove added. Everything related to fishing can be bought here.

New services added

  • Fish to Fish Bucks Exchanger added in Fisherman’s Hut. Allows player to sell fish in exchange for Fish Bucks.
  • Mighty Totem added in Creaking Port, it allows to increase the number of total Offerings you can have.
  • Treasure Hunter, who unlocks spectral chests. added in The Boneyard.
  • Beacon added in Pumpkin Backyard.


More consumables
Mutant Veggies and Mushroom Cap are now consumables that gives player a temporary boost when eaten.

Full controller support
This took a while, I didn't want to have a case where you control mouse cursor with your game-pad, so I had to program controls for every game element from the scratch, but I feel like it makes for a better playing experience.

Achievements
42 achievements added. Yep.

Other features

  • Water Totem Base added. Some totem pieces do not produce relics if it's not built on water.
  • 5 new fishes added.
  • Fish Bucks – alternative currency, used to buy fishing upgrades added in the game.
  • Additional 11 relics has been added to Pier Warehouse.
  • House renovation added.
  • Third level added for upgrades in Research Center.
  • Detector tool upgrades added in Research Center.
  • Treasure Hunt section added in Notebook.
  • Sepctral Chests added.
  • Hobofeller logo at the start of the game added :).
  • Additional dialogue added.
  • Few new resources added.





Changes



  • All of the Totems now request one and only item called Offerings. Offerings are replenished each day and the number of Offerings generated can be increased through upgrading.
  • Some of the upgrades in Research Center were moved to Governor’s Office or turned into Badges.
  • Land Expansion service is now available at Governor’s Office instead of Bronze Computer.
  • House Expansion service is now available at Renovator's Workshop instead of Bronze Computer.
  • Little minigame is now played when hunting for Scaly Oaklinger.
  • Oaklinger Spirits and Totem Pieces section of Notebook has been updated.
  • Game intro updated.
  • Creaking Port location was slightly modified.
  • Bronze Computer removed.
  • Instead of any fish Fryerbot now only accepts Fish Fillet. It can be bought at Fisherman's Hut.
  • Tutorials and Notebook Encyclopedia updated.
  • Some information on fishes (mainly rarity, level and prices) has been updated.
  • Totem Pieces preferences changed.
  • Some of the relic prices changed.

  • 10 music cues added in the game that'll start playing randomly.
  • Background music in Governor’s Office added.
  • Background music in Hollow Oak added.
  • Ambient sound for Fisherman’s Hut, Research Center, Decorator, Renovator added.

What's next?


As mentioned above at least one major update is planned, in fact version 1.1 is already in development. In the next update I'll focus on adding ending (as currently there is no final goal), quests, random events, more activities and puzzles. Also expanding elements that's already in the game. It'll take some time until it's finished since there is quite a few ideas I want to implement in the game, as well as the fact that I'll start working on a new game, that hopefully will be announced this summer.

Full Release on May 2nd!



Hello to all,

Totemlands will be leaving Early Access on May 2nd!. Version 1.0 doesn't mean it's the end of Totemlands, there's already ideas and plans for upcoming updates.

With the full release new content will be added (a detailed list will be posted on release day), which also will includes controller support and achievements.

Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese & French translations are now available!


Hello to all,

New languages has been added to Totemlands, huge thanks to all the awesome people who helped with the translations:


  • Spanish (translated by Agulachin).
  • Brazilian Portuguese (translated by Gabriel da Conceição).
  • French, which was added few weeks ago (translated by Célia Michenaud – Keltia Translations)


More translations are in the work.

Since the release of v0.6 last month, I've been working on the full version of the game and even though there's still a lot to be done, the work has been going smoothly. If there is no major distraction in the future I'm planning to release full version of the game somewhere around end of March / first half of April (when I'm close to finishing I'll post an separate announcement).

I get around - Totemlands v0.6 Released!



Hello to all,

The third Totemlands update (version 0.6) released! Here is the list of things that's been added:

Features



New location
The last big area (at least until v1.0 is released) has been added. The passage leading up to it is not as apparent as the others, but it's also not hidden in a way you couldn't find it.

Spirits -> Totem Piece -> Relic
New area is inhabited by the most vicious spirit so far. But if you'll manage to catch it you'll be able to craft a new totem piece that produces the most valuable Relic in the game.

Teleportation Gates
Now you'll be able to get around pretty quickly with this new modern technology called Teleportation. These traveling gates are scattered all around Oakshade, however none of them are active, so you'll have to do some prep-work before you can use them.

Pinning recipes
Up to 3 crafting recipes can be pinned now. Once recipe is pinned it'll stay on the screen indicating ingredients you need, as well as how much of those ingredients you have in your inventory.

Duplicator
Duplicator is new facility added to v0.6. The name is pretty self-explanatory - you put a refined or unrefined item in and it'll duplicated that item. Convenient.

60 new body parts for character customization
New hairstyles, eyes and mouth shapes; new facial hair and eyebrow styles.

New type of Biobot
Just as any other biobot this one is no different - it takes an item and produces a different item.

More land to build on
Now you can expand your land for the third time, as a result you'll be able to build two more totem poles.

New resources
There's even more resources in the game. Hooray I guess.

New plants
Bamboo trees and tulips are now in the game.




Changes



  • Game intro completely reworked, three new characters introduced, however at the moment they only appear in the intro. Also, newspaper text in the intro has been changed.


Audio



  • Oaklinger attack sound effect added.
  • Rollerbot working sound added.
  • Teleportation gate activation sound added.
  • Teleportation sound added.
  • Recipe pinning sound added.


Bug fixes



  • Clock showing incorrect period at certain hours.
  • Bug related to Combinator facility that would crash the game has been removed.


Looking for volunteer translators



Hello to all,

Totemlands v.0.6 is finished and ready to be released, but before that I wanted to translate the game at it's current state to at least few languages and I need your help!
It's not an easy task since there's some text to localize, but not a whole lot (~4200 words, mostly separate words, like item names).

Halloween Costume



Halloween is upon us. To commemorate the day of carved pumpkins give your character a little makeover with a spooky* costume.

In the game go to Creaking Port to find a special stand. Click on it to change your character's appearance.
