Update v2.98 - The first step towards Oblivity 3.0

Developer Note

Hey Oblivity Community,

It’s been a while since our last update, but we’ve been hard at work on some major new features.

This latest update marks the first big step toward the upcoming Oblivity 3.0. As part of this massive overhaul, we’ve had to rebuild several core parts of Oblivity. With that in mind, this patch is an early rollout designed to test some of those foundational changes.

Our current plan is to release another update that will introduce one of the key features ahead of the full 3.0 release. That said, things are still in progress, so it’ll take a bit more time.

In this patch, you’ll find performance improvements and an upgraded download and search system. As always, since this is a big shift under the hood, we expect a few bumps along the way. If you run into any issues, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us on Discord.

Cheers,
The Poly Games Team

Changes

Search System and Download system

Some users reported issues with finding newly created Playlists or Routines. To address this, we’ve improved the search functionality in both the Trainer and Routine systems.

You can now instantly search by content ID, allowing you to directly access and download specific content without waiting for the Download Manager to fetch updates.

We’ve also made major improvements to the Download system itself — downloads are now faster, and the system prioritizes content more intelligently.

Performance

You should notice significant performance improvements in-game, especially on lower-end devices. Fast target movements should also feel more responsive, resulting in a more fluid overall experience.

Behaviour System

We added 2 more global variables to the behaviour system, which will allow for more complex target logic.
- Unique round id
- Target spawn index
If you have more ideas for new action blocks or settings for the behaviour system, feel free to reach out to us. We are gonna add more features to it in the next patch.

Sensitivity Finder

The goal of this update for the Sensitivity Finder is to make it easier to use and minimize user errors. We received feedback that some parts are still overwhelming for new players. Also, there were some common user errors, so we’re updating the UI to fix that.
Because of this, we decided to completely update the First Steps and add a new quick guide on how to use the Sensitivity Finder.

Additional minor improvements to the Sensitivity Finder include:

- The optimal sensitivity is now rounded to match the number of decimal places allowed by the game.

- The optimal sensitivity will only appear after 100 rounds to stop beginners from using an inaccurate sensitivity too soon.

- A round counter ingame now shows how many rounds have been completed in the current session.

- While in the scenario, a large progress bar at the top shows how many runs are left to complete the current day.

First Steps

The First Steps have been completely updated. To make it easier for players to follow, the settings are now spread across 9 pages with additional explanations.

Sensitivity Finder Tutorials

After finishing the First Steps, a short tutorial pop-up will appear. It contains 6 pages and gives a quick overview of the Sensitivity Finder basics for new players. You can reopen this tutorial anytime from the main screen of the Sensitivity Finder by clicking the "Help" button.

Routine Checklist

Our routine feature has also been improved to make it easier to track your progress in the game.
Now, between rounds, a small checklist will appear in the top right corner of the HUD. This shows how many rounds are left in the current scenario and what scenarios are coming up next.

Additionally, a large progress bar at the top of the screen shows how far your progress is on the current routine day.
You can now also view your current routine directly from the ESC screen while you're in a routine.

UI Sounds

After multiple requests for UI sounds in the menu, they are now available. This gives better feedback and should make the experience more enjoyable. More sound adjustments and additional sounds will be added in the future.

The new sounds include:

- Several hover sounds
- Multiple button click sounds
- A progression sound for the Sensitivity Finder and the routine
- A startup sound

Bugs & Quality of Live

- Fixed arrow overlapping on the Routine Online Page
- Fixed title overlapping author on the Routine Page
- The navigation bar now closes the sens finder profile UI ingame
- Simplified the navigation bar sens profile rows
- Added setting to toggle the top progression bar

This was a Feature update, in the next patches we will focus more on bug fixing.

Scenario Setup Screen

First-time users will now see a setup screen that provides a quick and guided way to configure their settings. This includes options for their main game, sensitivity, FOV, visual settings, and crosshair customization. Additionally, users can directly start a routine from this screen. This enhancement aims to make the onboarding process for Oblivity more streamlined and user-friendly.

Scenario Creator Changes

We've updated the UI of the Model Editor to support a wider variety of 3D models in the spawn pool, giving you more possibilities for designing cool maps. This update also enables us to add new models quickly, so expect more to come soon. Additionally, we introduced a special tool for creating hollow boxes of any size with ease.

In the Scenario Creator, we've added several preset templates for weapons, characters, targets, and maps. These templates simplify the process of creating scenarios and make it much more user-friendly for newcomers. We can't wait to see what you create with these new features!
