Oh Trap!

Beta 4 Released!

Hi everyone! We hope you are having fun with the new party mode! We’re very happy that you keep sending us useful feedback, and we’re constantly taking your feedback into consideration while we are trying to make the game even better. We’ve fixed various bugs that have been reported by you. You can refer to the changelog at the end of this update to see what exactly has been done.

We’ve also added two new characters! You can now play as the owl Santhi for the tribe, or as the maned wolf Moona for the pirates! We hope you enjoy these new characters as much as we do.

We’ve also added three new traps! Now you can create even more fun combinations to thwart your opponents. First there’s the spinning fire trap. Once activated this trap will rotate and create a stream of fire from two opposing ends, which will light a player aflame. Next we have the button mash trap. Once activated this trap will root a player, after which the player can’t move until he repeatedly presses his dash button. Lastly we’ve added the smoke bomb trap. Once activated this trap will release colorful smoke in a radius so that you can’t see this area. We can’t wait to see how you will use these traps.

We’ve also created a new map which is more suited for beginning players. This way players can better learn the game before they move on to more difficult maps or the party mode. This map is also very suited for trying out new trap combinations. Because we also want to add more maps in the future, and with the adding of this map, we’ve also created a level select screen. At the start of a versus game you can now choose on which map you want to play.

We hope you enjoy these new additions to the game! We love hearing from you, so if you have an issue, want to leave feedback or just want to have a chat with us you can leave a message in the community forums. Have fun playing Oh Trap!

Party mode released!

Hi again! Thanks to all the players we’ve had so far! We hope you enjoyed and keep enjoying our game. We have a surprise for you. We added more game modes! From now on you can select Party mode in the main menu to play through different game modes with your friends and collect points by winning these modes! This makes for a more diverse game with different new strategies in picking and placing your traps. Among these new game modes are Booty Run, Drowning Islands, Feed the Fish, Burning Ram and King of the Islands. You get your own island at the start of a party round, which you can fill with traps. These islands are then used in different setups during the different games. You can rotate your island at the start of each game mode, so you can find the optimal way to use your traps and island. We hope you enjoy these new game modes and can’t wait to see the new strategies you come up with!

Other than a new game mode, we’ve also added a new trap! Now you can pull your enemies to this trap! Combine this pull trap with a kill or projectile trap for a kill combo. We can’t wait to see how you’ll use this new trap and which combinations you come up with.

Of course you don’t want to play with a team in these new game modes, you want to win by yourself! Player indicators have been added because of this, so you now get your own color in the Party mode. But you not only want to win, you want to let your friends know that you are winning. We can relate, and have therefore added emotes! You can now let your friends know exactly how you feel during the game. We also added some fun statistics at the end of a game, so you can show your friends just how many times you’ve killed them. Fun right?

We also wanted to make our game more visually pleasing. We have worked hard to make the game somewhat more natural looking. We reworked the levels and also worked on a new Ocean shader.

We hope you enjoy this new update, and we love to hear from you. We value your feedback, so please let us know what you think about these new game modes.

Beta 2 Released!

First of all, we want to thank everyone for their reviews and feedback on our game in our first weeks of early access. We found these reviews very valuable, and started working on changes as soon as they came in. The most important one of course, universally noticed by all of you, is the keyboard controls! We added a clear explanation through a schematic so it will be easier for those of you who don’t have controllers to play the game without struggles. They are also visible during gameplay now. For those of you who want to play online with friends, we want you to know that our game plays great through Parsec! Other than that we fixed some bugs in the game, and updated our UI. We hope you enjoy our game even more now that these updates are in the game, and we keep valuing your feedback!
