With people stuck at home and bored out of their heads, I thought this might be a good point to make Omegaland free. It was conceived as the kind of game that used to appear on Newgrounds or Kongregate (plus some earlier influences), so it just seemed appropriate. I make games for people to enjoy, not because I want to make money, and since these days I am lucky enough to work full-time as a game writer, I don't need to struggle quite as hard for every cent.
(Yes, that does mean I would like to make The Sea Will Claim Everything free as well; we'll see about that when The Council of Crows is ready. In general, I want to make most of my future personal work free if possible.)
Anyway! If you haven't played Omegaland before, I suggest approaching it casually. A fun little thing that you don't expect too much from, just a silly little PC platformer that you got for free. Bounce around its world, smile at a couple of daft jokes, see if you can get all five Golden Keys. There are adventures to be had!
IJKL movement, more fixes
I've uploaded a new version.
- Adds IJKL movement, as requested by some left-handed users.
- Lets you switch between fullscreen/windowed (although the window is still tiny at the moment).
- Main menu now shows all the buttons/commands (such as +/- for adjusting volume) which were previously undocumented.
- Fixes the remaining scenarios where you could jump out of Granita Island.
Working on at least having some basic controller support.
More updates, plus a blog post
I've put out another update. This one fixes two issues:
- Losing hearts or the double-jump boots when the game crashes or is closed via Alt+F4.
- Jumping so far off the screen that you don't come down anymore.
- Fixed a potential scenario where the game fails to reload when you die.
- Fixed an empty sign.
- You can no longer collect jump upgrades, then jump offscreen in Granita Island.
- Removed a couple of old lines of code that could theoretically cause trouble.
- Fixed two achievements ("Bears! Bears!" and "Engorge")
- Added a version of the game (available via Properties/Betas) that doesn't require admin rights.
- Fixed a monster in Dessert Bluffs that was walking in the air a bit.
- Adjusted music volume, added the (as yet undocumented) option on adjust music volume with +/-.
Many thanks to Steam community member Wok, who tracked down and reported some obscure cases.
