#UPDATE 0.23a - Cooking system!

Hi future colonizers!

Here we come with another update with new content and features.
As you know we're adding features that are on a list until we reach beta stage, and then we'll keep adding but we'll focus on bug fixing / make the game stable.

This time is cooking turn.

Lets cook! Improving campfires

In a game where you need to survive campfires are one of the most important things that you can use at the beggining. In O.L.D campfires where just a source of light, but not anymore, because now campfires restores your energy and protects you from nearby enemies.

And now you are able to cook food! For now, you can only cook turnips, carrots and meat, and make some delicious Turnip Stew. Don't worry, we're adding more things to cook very soon! Take the time to cook something because it's worth it.

Campfires will need fuel in order to burn. Until now they were infinite, but not anymore, you'll need to use fuel to keep the fire alive. You can use sticks, cloth, raw wood or coal, being sticks the worst fuel (but the easiest to get) and coal the best one.

You can get coal by "cooking" (burning) raw wood as ingredient. Also every single cooked ingredient will be turned into coal if they stay on the fire for a while after they are ready.

Also, note that there's only one recipe for campfires now

Those 15 sticks you need will be used as fuel when you place your crafted campfires, so you can recover them if you want.

In the other hand, you can't recover a campfire once is placed, as instead, you can salvage it, recovering some of the materials and anything that in inside in that moment.

Is that everything?

Not even close. This new system opens a new way to new more systems, advanced crafting and weapon customization.

We're going to start to implement the infinite map system, but we've talked and we're pulling another update before doing that with new additions like a new enemy (static enemy) and maybe the weapon customization system (attach accesories) along with some improvements to the UI that a lot of you asked us!

And as always, here you have the most important patch notes!
- You can now bind your mouse keys (left click, right click, and wheel click)
- All controls can be reseted to defaults with the "Defaults" button now
- Bug fix, activating default dynamic object behaviour even if you kept use button pressed
- Bug fix, placing indicator won't explode mines anymore
- Bug fix, mines will explode again agaisnt enemies and wild life
- Bug fix, broken boxes pieces will now collide each other avoiding clipping
- Bug fix, hands stuck while jumping and attacking solved
- Bug fix, door item was referencing another item instead of itself
- Bug fix, some recipes where causing problems locking items in your inventory
- Added cooking system!
- Turnips, carrots and hard meat can now be cooked at campfires
- Sticks, raw wood, clothes and coal can now be used as fuel for campfires
- New items added: cooked turnip, cooked carrot, steak, turnip stew
- Raw wood can be "cooked" (burnt) at campfires as ingredient to get coal
- Every fuel item have now efficiency, sticks burn for a few seconds while coal last for a long time
- Campfires now need any kind of fuel to burn inside the cooking menu
- Cooking progress and fuel consumption will only happen if your campfire is burning
- Added a sound when you are cooking
- There's only one recipe to make campfires now: Wood (3) + Stone (2) + Stick (15)
- Campfires cannot be picked up when placed anymore, instead they can be salvaged, getting some materials back on the ground
- When you place a campfire, it will use the 15 sticks you needed to craft it as fuel
- Item info text (when pointing a placed object) changed
- When dragging an item from a container to a shortcut slot it will be returned to the container's slot instead of dropping it
- If you try to put an item from a container slot into a shortcut slot you will be prompted that you need to drag it first to the inventory

Thank you all for your support!

Upcoming updates

Hi everyone!

Some of you asked me if I left or abandoned the game, the answer is: no way!

The last update was around two weeks ago, and don't worry, there's another one coming between today and tomorrow, including nice changes and a great addition.

So what's coming next?

Cooking system coming in this new update

Cooking will be added on next update. This new system opens a whole new way to use campfires making camping twice as useful, but they won't last forever like until now.

Campfires will need fuel, for now, you can use sticks, cloth, raw wood and coal to make it burn, where sticks is the worst material and coal lasts a lot.

While a campfire is burning, you are now able to cook some food, for now we've added carrots, turnips and meat, and we're adding more in next updates.

Food will grant you a lot of energy, health, hunger or everything at the same time, making it worth to cook. But be careful, every ingredient can be burnt if you left a cooked ingredient for a long time in the fire.

Every burnt ingredient will become coal, also you can get coal by "cooking" (burning) wood as ingredient.

But that's not all, we're adding recipes so you can combine ingredients to make even better food, like the current Turnip Stew, that grants even thirst restoration.

For the next coming update after this one

We're setting up things to make one of the biggest updates of the game so far, the infinite map addition. This might change (or add) a lot of gameplay of O.L.D, and we want to make it nice and stable, so don't be afraid if you don't see any update coming in the next week, we're working a lot!

However, I'm posting every progress about the new map system and future features that we're going to add within this system, you'll love them because they are gonna be the heart of O.L.D, you'll see!

It is possible that we release another update while we're doing this one with new things that you will love too! I'm sure :)

[DONE] Login server maintenance

Hello colonizers!

We're doing an unexpected server maintenance due to some technical problems with the host provider.

In the meanwhile login will not be available and we should be back really soon.

Thank you all for your patience!

Edit.: maintenance finished, you should be able to play the game normally again.

#UPDATE 0.22a - Settings, fixes, K.O!

Hello =)

How is the year going so far? I hope really good!

To improve it, we just came here to bring you another update for One Last Day, to keep improving it. And what's new?

New settings window and key binding / input manager system (beta)

You asked for it, now you have it!
A lot users requested customizable controls to play the way they want, and we agreed, now you are able to customize every control in the game.

Please, keep in mind that this system has been written from scratch and it's in beta stage, as it has been tested, beware of possible problems and glitches.

Also we've made a new options window to feel it more comfortable and with more space. This window is shared between main menu and game menu, having almost the same options.

Expect some improvements over this window yet!

New shortcut bar with improvements!

Oh, you are leveling up and you can't see any experience bar or level stuff! As levels are quite useless now, they will become way useful really soon, so we're preparing everything, starting to integrate experience and your level in the current bar.

The clock is also integrated in this new bar.

Sneaky knock out, K.O!

If you have any blunt weapon or any gun, you are now able to knock out your enemies while you are sneaking! Hitting them with these type of weapon (melee only) while they are unalerted have 90% chance to K.O. them, but even if they are alerted, you are still able but it will be only a 5%.

But... are you like me? I'm not really good at sneaking and getting close enough. Then grab some stones and throw them to their heads! A good hit will knock them out too.

Knocked enemies will remain like that for at least 15 seconds and up to 40 seconds.

Remember that this won't work with enemies wearing helmet!

Anything else?

Yes! If you were waiting for some fixes or tweaks, maybe they are done in this update too. Take a look to the most important update notes:
- A new whole exclusive input manager for the game has been added (beta)
- Keys will now respond better
- New experience bar and clock with level marker
- New settings (options) menu (some settings will need you to reset the game)
- Inventory window will be automatically opened when opening a container (storage)
- Wild boars resistance reduced
- Bug fix, Turnip party achievement can be achieved again
- Bug fix, Crafting achievements can be achieved again
- Bug fix, duplicated boxes and placing items (blue-red markers) should now delete correctly
- Bug fix, you can't no longer pick up dynamic objects by walking over them while holding E button
- Bug fix, locking window appearing during holding E on an object and getting stuck solved
- Bug fix, opening a chest were not locking the screen, now it should work as expected
- Bug fix, "peaceful" mode after reloading a map (no NPC spawn) solved
- Gun melee range increased
- Gun melee is now considered as blunt weapon melee
- Hitting a normal infected in the head with a blunt weapon may put them unconscious (K.O.)
- Throwing rocks to an unalerted infected have a high chance to put them unconscious (K.O.)
- While enemies are unalerted the K.O. chance is 90%, while they are alerted the K.O. chance is 5%
- Enemies will remain unconscious up to 40 seconds and a minimum of 15 seconds
- Armored enemies (currently only armored infected) are invulnerable to knock out

#UPDATE 0.21a - A little one to end the year

Happy new year! Well... not yet, but in a few hours :)

To end the year I bring you a very little update but with great upgrades!

Improved and fixed crafing

After some problems and unfinished stuff, crafting should now be working as expected, and also enjoy the new filters for the known recipes!

Improved Airplane Store (A.S.)

I almost named is A.S.S. (Airplane Supplies Store), but you can imagine why not xD.

As you know there's a in-game store where you can spend the coins you collected in new items, an airplane will deliver them to you wherever you are.
This shop had every (or almost) item in the game, and this could be a little game breaking feature.

To solve this, A.S. is offering new stock with random items every time you enter the game or also every morning in the game!

Also this store had received new filters, working a lot better than the previous filters.

Are you sneaky? Your lucky day!

Yes, you can now sneak behind your enemies without alerting them! Enemies have now vision and a visible range (angle and distance). Also, your character will make dynamic noise. Let me explain how it works.

Example 1- Character not moving, standing up, enemy close but can't see you, you won't be detected unless you move.
Example 2- Crouching (lying) and moving, you can almost touch the back of your enemies if they can't see you.
Example 3- Same as 1 but your enemy is an "Infected Survivor"... run for your life.

Enemies have dynamic radius of sound and vision, so an "Infected survivor" will detect you much better than a "Armored infected".

But hey! those enemies were turning too fast and too frequent!
Don't worry, enemies will be turning taking more time between each one. Also, they won't be turning in an instant, as instead they will be slowly turning into their new direction now, letting you avoid them easily.

Bug fixes and some optimizations

As always, this update contains a few more bug fixes and optimizations, however expect more into this update (named 0.21f1) coming next to this!

And to finish, here you have some notes!:
0.21
- Added filters to the crafting menu
- Once a day (or once you enter the world) the airplane store will randomize its stock
- The airplane store (A.S.) have new working filters now!
- New "walk over high grass" sounds added
- Added more item descriptions
- Infected survivors will now have random beards
- Bug fix - duplication bug caused when trying to fill bottles solved
- Bug fix - solved a bug that was auto-deleting placed stuff
- Enemies will avoid spawning underground (where there's no terrain at all) for a few seconds from their spawn
- Crafting deeply revised, multiple bugs solved
- Enemy AI improved, they will turn slowly to their new direction instead of instant rotation
- Enemy AI improved, they can see you if you are near enough
- Enemies will now have a more randomized period to start walking or stop while unalerted
- Dynamic player sound radius, you will cause less sound while crouching and more while sprinting
- You can now sneak from enemies by crouching and making the less possible sound while they can't see you
- You can now stand behind of a zombie without being detected if you don't move (not for infected survivors)

Uploading update, should be available in a few minutes.

#UPDATE 0.20a - Let's keep improving!

Hi everyone! And happy Christmas of course.

Here we are again with a new update, I hope you like it!

A new enemy

This new enemy is a bit rarer than the basic zombie, but they will be spawning at day and at night. Don't worry, they won't be coming from underground at night.

There are a few survivors just like you out there. Some of them get infected for various reasons. More aggresive than ever, they are faster and stronger, even faster than you, so better be ready or run away!

They are generated randomly with the same clothes that you can wear, and we are randomizing this even more in next update. Beware, they might look like a friendly survivor, but they are not at all.

Survival guide

As you may know, there was a "Help" button that opened a window with some help, some of them referencing old system that are no longer in game.

That's why we are proud to announce you the new

Colonizer survivor guide from New Citadel

This brand new guide will keep growing and expanding so it will include game lore and survivor tales to be readen whenever you want.
Also it includes a basic information about how to get started and some things that you may need to know how it works.

Improving rain and adding utility to the acid!

Rain will now affect also player wielded torches and cocktail molotov's fire, also acid rain (so beware of explosions).

But that's not all. As you (should) know, you can get water from rain by using an empty bottle under it, and now, you can get acid water too.

Acid water can be thrown like a molotov cocktail, and in collision with fire, it explodes, useful? Well... find it useful, but...

You can now also craft your own bombs by combining acid water with a cloth and throw it away to get fireworks! The explosion is quite weak, but trust me, is really useful.

And as always, patch notes

There are a few major bug fixes that may be breaking game experience and we've ported the game into new Unity's version, that should be improving performance aswell.

0.2a
- New zombie added: infected survivor (better run away if they see you, really)
- New survival guide, basic tutorial book
- Survival guide will be shown the first time you enter the game automatically
- Zombies coming from underground will now only happen at night, stay safe!
- Bug fix - problem breaking crafting system for some users solved
- Bug fix - "Craft" button won't be longer active if you haven't the mats
- Bug fix - Dynamic item window not allowing closing after opening it
- Bug fix - Boxes should now contain loot when broken in multiplayer
- Bug fix - Furniture should now contain loot when opened in multiplayer
- Bug fix - chat will no longer send a message if you don't write a letter
- Bug fix - opening chat won't keep you floating when opened in a jump
- New item: acid water, can be obtained filling bottles under acid rain
- New item: acid bomb, can be thrown, causing a small explosion on collision
- New recipe: acid bomb, can be crafted with acid water and a cloth
- Throwing acid water into a fire source will make it explode
- WARNING: acid will now react with player wielded torch too!
- WARNING: acid will now react with molotov cocktail's fire
- Rain will now extinguish almost every fire
- Changed molotov cocktail colors to match better
- Project ported to new Unity's version
- Happy Christmas day! Not an addition, just a wish for all of you =)

Uploading update, should be available in the next hour since this announcement!

What's up? ^^

Hello everyone!

Just a quite short announcement to tell you that we're working, but you know, with all these Christmas days it is hard to keep the good and fast work, we do our best!

And what is coming next on O.L.D? (along with bug fixes and improvements, like always!)

A new enemy

This new enemy will look almost like you, is faster, even faster than you. There are just a few out there, but if they see you, better ready your weapon or run away!

This new enemy will open new frontiers for us to make friendly NPC's and raiders soon!

Working on a guide

Some users are asking for some kind of better guide inside the game, how to move, attack, use menus. We think that while we are working on a tutorial, this guide will help you whenever you want. The first time you enter in the game this guide will automatically open, then you can close it and open again whenever you want.

Also we're adding some game lore into this guide in further updates.

What's next

This is coming in the next update, that should be also coming in the next days hopefully.

After this we're preparing bigger additions and changes to the game, like as I said friendly NPCs, infinite terrain and much more.

#UPDATE 0.19a - Welcome, Mac users!

It is always good to keep growing and get the game going available even for more people, and that's why if you are a proud owner of a Macintosh, then let me say: welcome to One Last Day!

This update comes with even more content, as always, so sit down and start reading, it is worth the time.

Mac version

This is the first and the most important new "feature" available now in O.L.D. Mac users are now able to play the game, but hey, if you have also a PC remember that you won't loose your characters, they will stay saved online.
This is the very first version of Mac, so please be aware that we will be working on further optimization and possible bug fixes, but it has been tested and it's fully playable if you are between the minimum requirements.

Interactive dynamic objects

You've asked for it, then here you go! If you have placed a torch, campfire, antenna, bed and now you can to move, don't worry, keep pressed E key to open a new interaction pannel that will allow you more options with that object.

You will find that some items, like torches and campfires will have also an extra option like turn on / off. Just doing a fast tap on the E key will activate the default option of that item, so don't worry, you don't need to open a interface panel every time you want to light a torch or open a door.

Talking about campfires

Until now it was used only to light a wide area, but now it is more useful than ever (and it will be even more soon). Tired of those zombies coming for underground to kill you? Want to make a camp outside in the forest but those zombies are always there? Don't worry! Now campfires will avoid these zombies coming from underground while you are within its range and also it is burning, of course.

Also, staying within the range of the campfire will replenish your energy gradually, so come closer and take a break.

Yes, it is wonderfull, but we're making things to react each other in the world, starting with fire (right now, torches and campfires). If they are under rain, don't try to make them work, they will extinguish, and of course, no effect or light is coming out. But be even more afraid from acid rain now.
Acid rain will react agaisnt the fire, making a small explosion when colliding. This explosive feature is for now only working with placed torches and campfires, so try to get them in a place with a roof or extinguish them manually if you see the storm coming.

I love rain!

And that's why now you can again fill your bottles and bowls if you are under the rain (just use them like a regular item), and also staying under the rain your thirst will be gone gradually, so open your mouth and drink that rain! Well... no mouth in your character I guess... =)

A new chat system, bye bye old one

This is not a really big change but needed since we have changed almost every UI item, so it's looking more integrated and quite better now. This new chat system is still in experimental stage, just like multiplayer, so expect a lot of improvements and fixes once we reach beta stage.

There are a few more things on this update, and other few that we're preparing for a lot of new features that are coming really soon.

Before leaving, in case that you have missed it, take a look to the last biggest additions / changes on One Last Day!

A whole new interface, inventory and crafting system

Inventory with slots, draggable windows, recipe learning system, shortcut key bar, better take a look by yourself.

New NPC spawn system

Tired of being alone around you? This new spawn system will take care of that and will bring you some company always!

Some optimization tweaks, added more options to settings menu

It is really important to get the game smoothly running for you, so this is one of our main tasks, thats why we have improve performance and added some more graphical options that you can tweak to improve your experience.
