This update has been about simplification. I realised that One Million Worlds was simply too complicated for players to actually play (I think I’ve known that for a while but wasn’t sure what to do about it) and this update looks to improve that situation. That means the same machines should be buildable but One Million Worlds will take on the hard work of wiring them up "right"
The simplification features in this release are:
Thrusters no longer need to be connected to wires to work, simply putting them in a machines, sit in a command chair and press the WSAD keys and the game will figure out for itself which keys to fire to move the ship. See more details at this article
Similar to thrusters, energy projectors that are autocontrolled without wires, just pressing the space bar will fire them
Omni directional energy projectors will auto target hostile mobs/machines without needing wiring
An Anti Grav block is now all that's needed for a ship, stabilisation is automatically provided (meaning the stabilisation block has been removed from the game)
Other features in this release:
The intro has been improved to showcase the new simplified ship building
Gantry crane room has been simplified by popular demand
Flowing water sources
General bug fixes and performance improvements
Version 0.8 The totally incompatible update
For a long time I've tried to keep save games compatible between versions. This has largely worked, but has had "consequences". This is a big bang fully incompatible update where I eliminate all of those consequences before returning to attempting to maintain compatibility. To an end user the main benefit is that save game loading should be faster, but it unlocks a lot of other stuff as well and hopefully should enable faster updates.
If you have saves you want to continue playing you can stay on version 0.7 by changing your steam branch to legacy_0.7. You should also be able to switch back and forth between old and new.
In addition to this arguably anti feature the following is in 0.8:
Efficiency work, especially for large (400 meter+) render distances
Render distances above 400 meters (only for machines with large RAM)
Underground mushroom farms
Efficiency improvements for drops
New type of AI ship; order missile cruisers
Trolls; a large type of mob
Version 0.7 The water update
The water update is here! This is a update whose most visible change is much prettier reflective water.
Pretty eh? In addition to that there are a number of new features and (whisper it) bug fixes
New features:
Mobs have a death animation; breaking into blocks
Lightning link: a new type of joint that allows for 360 degree motion
Distance fog (to hide the raw edge with the unloaded world)
Clouds
Bug fixes:
Explosions no longer cause extreme lag
Explosions correctly damage things engulfed in them
Hover text on tools in the inventory reinstated
Version 0.6 The UI Update
Version 0.6 was planned to be the storyline update, but it turns out creating storyline elements takes ages, and you end up creating a bunch of other content as you go along. So while I continue working on the storyline features I’m releasing an assortment of random other stuff I created along the way. However, the most obvious change is a complete overall of the UI, so thats what this update is getting called.
Major features in this version:
Video Command Chairs – A kind of command chair that can have a camera feed connected to it; allowing you to remotely control a turret and still see whats going on Reinforced glass panels – A bunch of shaped glass panels to produce more interesting cockpits Ants and ant colonies Improved inventory interaction – shift clicking on an item will auto move it Improved cave creation algorithm – look more like caves and less like a knife has been passed through the planet Glow mushrooms – primarily found in any colonies A bunch of bug fixes – by which I mean there were never any bugs And of course, the complete overhaul of the UI
Version 0.5 The mobs update

The Mobs update almost triples the number of mobs in the game (from 3 to 8) as well as including a number of other new features
