Guess what? I've been an independent game developer for 10 years now! 🤯
When I left EA Chillingo at the end of 2014, I was just eager to make my own games… I never for a minute imagined I’d still be here 10 years later with my own little business! 😊
My first released game, One Night Stand, was made during Nanoreno Game Jam, and it exploded in popularity and kinda took over my life!
When things settled down, I realised my previous project I was working on would require a larger team to create the vision I had for it. So I started working on the semi-autobiographical ‘Memories’ while continuing to work on One Night Stand localisations, console port and physical edition.
However, in 2019, my personal circumstances changed. I became disabled and struggled to work at the same pace I did before. Then 2020 happened, and Memories didn’t feel like the right game to be putting out in the world anymore. My life and everyone else’s was changing, so I wanted to make something more hopeful (and bittersweet)… In came VIDEOVERSE!
After three years development, VIDEOVERSE launched on August 7th 2023 to critical acclaim. I never expected the reviews to be as glowing as they were and it seemed like switching my focus in 2020 was the right call.
Sometimes, I feel sorry for my unreleased projects…but One Night Stand and VIDEOVERSE wouldn’t have existed without them. And hey, I haven’t fully given up on finishing them either, but indie development is certainly more competitive now than it was 10 years ago, so – for the time being – I’m focussing on smaller, more manageable projects! 💪
What's next for Kinmoku?
Entering 2025, I’m continuing support on VIDEOVERSE (including a Japanese localisation) and already far along with my 👀 next project 👀 ! The story is written, in-engine and even features character and background art...but there is still a lot to do! However, this next project will be smaller than VIDEOVERSE, so I’m hoping to release before the end of the year. The tricky part now…is coming up with a title!

Update notes for 2.32
Hello everyone,
A new update has gone live today (2.32) which updates the game engine and fixes three ending achievements that had stopped working. If you recently played the game and these achievements didn't unlock for you, please update and load the game. The missing achievements should unlock immediately! :)

It’s that time of year again for the Steam Winter Sale – Enjoy 66% off One Night Stand until January 4th 2024!
For those of you that may not know, in 2023 I released my second game – VIDEOVERSE – which is also on sale at the moment. VIDEOVERSE is a narrative adventure game set in an old school online social gaming network, which is inspired by Miiverse, MSN Messenger and early 2000s message boards. It's received some pretty cool reviews, with 90 on Metacritic and 92 on OpenCritic, making it one of the highest rated games of 2023!
On the surface, VIDEOVERSE looks quite different to One Night Stand, but if you enjoyed the gameplay of One Night Stand – making narrative choices while getting to know someone – I think you’ll love it! VIDEOVERSE is a longer experience with around 4-7 hours of gameplay depending on how many side quests you want to do, plus there are a few different endings which reflect your play-style. I hope you're able to give it a try!

One Night Stand 2.282
Hello everyone. This update fixes achievements.
Yesterday, some users reported that achievements had stopped working after the big update. This was caused by the latest engine updates not supporting Steam achievements correctly. This unfortunately means that Mac OSX 10.15+ can no longer be supported. I have contacted the Ren'Py developers directly and hope this issue will soon be resolved so Mac OSX 10.15+ will be fully compatible. Until then, I advise Mac OSX 10.15+ users to download One Night Stand on itch.io, as this version is 64bit.

Wow! It's been 5 years since the Nanoreno game jam version of One Night Stand released on itch.io! I can't believe it's been that long already! Thank you all for supporting One Night Stand and helping it become such a beloved indie visual novel!
To celebrate, One Night Stand will now be playable in Japanese and Italian on PC, Mac and Linux! Download the latest build and select the flags from the main menu to enable.
This build will also update Mac builds to 64bit, meaning One Night Stand will now be playable on OSX 10.15+.
For Playstation 4 owners, a physical edition of One Night Stand, featuring the new artwork above, is on the way! You can pre-order your copy now over at Red Art Games' website.
