As you know we've been talking about going Early Access with One Tower this month. However, we've heard you loud and clear and we're holding it back until we can address several things.
Here's what to expect:
- Various critical bug fixes. We've seen the invincible unit bug, the random no minion spawns, etc. We are working on making the game more stable in general.
- Balance, balance and more balance. We are making a huge update that will make the minion 'classes' more obvious. Stronger tanks, harder hitting fighters, greater ranged units and siege, snipers and more. Any currently OP units will have even greater weaknesses. Reaper and Wildfire are getting a few minor adjustments as well.
- Many games are running over our goal of keeping matches between 10-15 minutes. We are rebalancing things to fix this. In fixing 'tower diving' we actually made it more difficult for your minions to reach the enemy tower.
- Gameplay will give you more visual feedback. When you attack you'll know if you hit your target. We're adding in a lot of visual effects to make it more clear what's going on during combat vs. wondering how/why you died or if you killed something.
- We're bringing on new professional voice talent to help us add better VO in general. As an Indie dev studio this isn't cheap, but you've made it clear you no longer want to hear Ryan's voice. His feelings are hurt and he cries often about this, but you're right. It is terrible and we agree with you. ;)
- Solo Survival Mode. Yes! We know how important this is for you guys to be able to learn the game or practice new minion builds. We've always planned on adding this, but at the risk of delaying the game we planned on adding it later. Survival Mode will start with easier minion waves and will progressively get harder each wave until you either defeat the enemy or you are defeated.
- Improvements to ability visuals, air attack range, indicators and bug fixes.
- Clarity for new players: One of the things many players struggle with include how to customize their waves with their minions, how to deploy traps, what the trader or guardian do, etc. We're working on resolving that with our upcoming UI
- Many UI improvements throughout the game in general.
- We're fixing many animation issues (feet sliding, attack sync, etc.)
Things like new heroes, new minions, new environment artwork, etc. are being worked on but will be released during Early Access. We'll be previewing these over the coming weeks!
Thanks for your support as always, it really means a lot to us and appreciate all of you who have stuck around with us as the game continues to evolve - you have really helped us make One Tower a better game!
