Ôpe - Save system fixed

This big update contains different bugs fix and improvements. Thanks to everyone for the feedback! We also talk about a lot of subjects we thought would be important so you can skip the ones that aren't interesting for you.

About the Save game


Among all of the bug fixed we finally repaired the save system. The bad news is that everyone will have to start from zero. The French version of the game doesn't have it yet. Please also remember that we don't assure you that you can automatically keep your saves by switching between both versions. There is a way to manually keep them and we will show you how to do it in a step-by-step guide. We will release it once the French version gets it's update.
Now for the limitations of the save system. It only saves at the start of a level, meaning all progress made in a level will be lost. You also have only one save slot so if you start a new game you will erase your progress. The only way to keep one of your save in case you wanna come back to it is to use the method indicated in the guide we just talked about.

About players being blocked in some of the levels


We know a lot of you have been blocked in levels (a lot of comments and gameplay stops at the end of level 4). This is why we will record a complete walkthrough of the game. There will be a version with the dev comments and another one without it. We will let you know about it once they are available in future updates. This Youtube channel will host them.
If you're ever blocked at the end of a temple level try to talk to one of the shamans with Y and you should then unlock the new ability.

The little bonus surprise


In the last post that announced the release of the English version, we left saying we would have a little bonus surprise. Without further ado we announce it! We are releasing soon for free as a DLC the concept arts and the lore that are supposed to be rewarded trough special collectibles in the game. Due to our circumstances of production, we didn't have the time to produce the entire code architecture for it. Players can still collect them but have no way to access these rewards. The only actual reward is the view of some of the beautiful landscapes some of them are hidden in. We decided to make these concept arts and texts available to everyone trough a Digital Book. The English and the French version will be available in different PDFs.
We are looking if we can make it available on Steam as it would be the better way. In any case, it will be free.

About the future of Ôpe and other news



  • The future of Ôpe: This update is one of the last we will make. It also means that devs will also stop to answer soon. You can expect all of these services to stop in the following months as we all need to move on and to find a job. It was really fun and we learned a lot so thanks for being with us!
  • For the French version: We are waiting for the English version to be bug-proof of major bugs before updating and releasing the updated French version with all the bug fixes and improvements we made to the first one. We will let you know in futures news about this progress. Thanks for your patience!
  • For the Numix awards: We are participating in these awards that reward numeric production in differents categories created in the Quebec province every year. Wish us the best of luck!
  • For the website: we now also have our own website (only in French). Its nothing big or wow but still. If you wanna meet our team here's the link.


Bugs fix and improvements to the English version:


Character

  • Fixed players being able to get extras life as long as they were collecting 200 yellow spheres. It was possible to have more life than the UI could show.

Main menu

  • Fixed the "Continue" button
  • Fixed the "New Game" button allowing players to start with the maximum amount of life they had in their last session if they didn't close the game.

Pause Menu

  • Fixed the "Controls" button showing controls in French instead of English

Systems

  • Fixed the Save system

Tutorials

  • Fixed the texts introducing the collectibles. They now indicate the maximum of life players can gain(9).
  • Fixed the texts introducing the narrative collectibles(the blue stars and the scrolls). They now indicate that the rewards are sadly only available in the Digital Book.

UI

  • Fixed the Deer Shaman's icon having a weird red tint
  • Fixed the Shaman's icons being in French instead of English
  • Fixed the scale of the subtitles of the cinematics of the level 1 and 10
  • Removed the UI during the cinematics of the level 1 and 10


If you ever wanna play the French version here's the step-by-step guide. All the bug fix and improvements of the English version will be available soon and remember that we can't promise you that you will keep your saves.

Ôpe - English Localization

This update contains different bugs fix and improvements. Thanks to everyone for the feedback!

We are finally releasing the English localization. Although this is only the interface and the subtitles it should make the experience better for a lot of people. Since this is a different build players will not be able to switch their language in-game and will play by default with the English version. Players who wish to play with the French version will have to follow this step-by-step guide.

Please notice that the following bug fixes and improvements are only for the English version. They will be included in the next update of the French version in addition to other fixes.

Bugs fix and improvements:


Dev Tool

  • Fixed the movements of the Dev Tool
  • Fixed the level switching of the Dev Tool

Miscellaneous

  • Addition of subtitles for the cinematics of the level 1 and 10
  • Fixed the loading screen hiding the first seconds of the cinematic at the start of the first level

This update contains different bugs fix and improvements. Thanks to everyone for the feedback!

Update on the English localization


We're still working on the English localization (interface and subtitles only). We've almost finished it and will release it soon. The button "Options" is removed from the main menu since we can't change the language in-game. But don't worry we will have separate builds! Players having their preferred language at English will automatically have the appropriated build. We will see how we can make it easily accessible for players having other languages set in their Steam's preferences. You can expect this update to release before Christmas.

Bugs fix and improvements:


Character

  • Fixed a bug where the character was sometimes floating in the air at the start of a level and players had to pause then unpause to continue playing

Levels

  • Addition of music and ambient sound for the bonus level
  • Fixed levels after the cinematic of the level 6 not playing music and ambient sound
  • Fixed level 3 not showing the appropriate level when pausing
  • Fixed the Deer Shaman in the level 3. Players will not be able to push her around anymore
  • Fixed a collision in level 8 to prevent players from going outside the map with the ability acquired at the end of the level
  • Fixed many scripted events

Main menu

  • Fixed some issues in the main menu
  • Removed the "Options" button from the main menu (see Update on the English localization)

Miscellaneous

  • Addition of a banner in the Config Dialog
  • Addition of a video when the game starts to show a little animation with the logo of our school
  • Addition of a video when the game starts to remind the players that a controller is required to play

Pause menu

  • Addition of the "Controls" button in the pause menu. It only serve as a reference for the controls as players will not be able to personnalize them
  • Removed the "Options" button from the pause menu (see Update on the English localization)
